This beauty was my first & so far only intercontinental client 🥺❤️✈️ She lives in South Africa, and during our virtual consultation she told me that her company would be sending her to Atlanta for a few weeks and wanted to know if I could take her while she was in this country so she didn’t have to fly all the way from South Africa (ATL is still about 1,000mi away from me in NY, but at least it’s on the same continent). I of course made the exception and moved some things around in my schedule to get her in during that window. I’m honestly SO honored and so humbled that she and others have put so much trust in me. I don’t take that trust for granted for one second ❤️🙏🏻 Back to the process - people always wonder why this sort of thing takes so long so I broke down the timing & formula below 👇 1️⃣ 9:00-9:15: revisit game plan, go over maintenance/expectations one more time (bc her consultation was a few weeks ago) 2️⃣ 9:15-9:40: map out grey pattern 3️⃣ 9:40-10:30: begin back to back foils (Goldwell Silk Lift & 10vol, foils from @framar) 4️⃣ 10:30-10:45: drop/wipe/dry first few foils (that’s a @babylissprousa V2 dryer I’m using here) 5️⃣ 10:45-11:00: continue back to back foils 6️⃣ 11:00-11:15: drop more foils 7️⃣ 11:15-1:50: repeat steps 3-5 until the entire head is done & lifted to a level 10 pale yellow 8️⃣ 1:50-2:20: shampoo & pre-tone with SEQ 55grams 10T, 5grams 10VV + @k18hair sandwich 🥪 9️⃣ 2:20-2:30: power dry 🔟 2:30-2:50: map out grey pattern on entire head & section out what needs to be low lighted 1️⃣1️⃣ lowlight w/ Topchic 6A, 7A, pearl blue pure pigments & 10vol 1️⃣2️⃣ 2:50-4:45: apply meticulous-ass lowlights to match the pepper & process fully 1️⃣3️⃣ 4:45-5:15 shampoo, treatment, tone w/ SEQ 10T & clear 1️⃣4️⃣ 5:15-6:00 cut & style Total time spent coloring: 7.5 hours Total appointment time: 9 hours (incl: mapping, re-consult, prep, haircut)
That was my plan, but here I am at 54 and not grey. I finally have a little bit of grey at the temples, but very little. My husband's 49 and has virtually no grey too.
The color is not actually grey. When you see that iridescent white hair naturally I refer to that as platinum hair. Platinum hair has a complete absence of melanin. Melanin is created by Melacytes in the papilla of hairs cellular structure. No one wants grey. They want platinum.
This has been my observation when I see people go from dyed hair to their naturally grey hair. It looks so much brighter and healthier. They often look younger even.
As a lady who started graying very early on in life (stared turning gray at 17, yes your reading that correct) i absolutely love salons who are open and willing to do these types of transitions ❤❤they are time consuming as well as pricy (if getting it done in one visit, of course as it should be) but the result are beautiful and the upkeep is so much better than trying to lighten your hair each month trying to blend or hide the greys (bc of.course no matter if you lighten or darken your hair new growth it just looks 10x worse contrast )
@ConnieL-wh7vs I wish I had a streak on white in the front it's so 😍 pretty unfortunate I turned grey all over wheb I was 17 and at the time I would dye my hair dark brown so when my new growth grew in it was so hard looking ....as we see in this video it's such a tricky task to evenly blend you greys and darks and light to where it looks darn near perfect
I had a great great aunt whose hair went comPLETEly white by the time she was twenty. It was STUNNING - she got stopped on the street by a Hollywood hairdresser when she was on a vacation in Southern California, they just wanted to marvel at it.
I started going gray in highschool too. I had very dark hair and the white/gray strands would really stand out. Here I am, almost 50, going in for highlights and color as much as possible because my hormones over the years have made my hair go super thin on top. I have to do a comb over. If I went white and gray, they would just see my scalp. Been thinking of getting a wig.
Holy guacamole that client is stunning and rocking the peppered gray look ❤❤❤❤ love the hair but her confidence at the end was 100/10! You did a fantastic job.
My hair is naturally like this. Watching these transformations makes me so grateful. I stopped dying my hair 5 years ago and just go for a once a year trim.
Wow, the before and after is the most AMAZING transformation.. you are truly an Artist. I'm 68 have always been a natural dirty blonde but for 30 years, have been bouncing between gold blonde in winter and light blonde in summer. My stylist retired and closed shop and I've been to 4 in the last 2 years who can't get color right nor a cut right. I'm FINALLY going gray, but just at hairline and a bit more coming in all over now. TRYING to grow it out and NOT go to the salon until it grows out enough to see if I can finally have enough gray to not have to color anymore. I wish our podunk little northern California town had artists like you!!!
You could try your own highlights to ease the transition. It's really not hard. Or, easier, try learning some small braid techniques to pull the front back and blend it with the rest of your hair. No matter what you do, you're going to be more aware of the line than anyone else so try your best not to let it bug you. It'll be worth it!
Gorgeous. Im just starting to go grey and am actually looking forward to seeing what kind of grey Im gonna be. Im naturally a red head and Ive noticed that my hair actually lightens and turns blonde before it goes grey. Ageing is kinda cool. I mean, the aches and pains suck and not being able to do some things that i used to be able to do with ease, well that sucks too but some of it is liberating. Anyway, her hair looks amazing. Love your work.
That is absolutely gorgeous! She did the right thing to come to you. My hair is naturally white and I never dyed it a natural color. I love her white and I love my white!
This is TRUE ART AND STUNNINGLYYYYYYY GORGEOUS!!!🎉❤ You are exceptional at all you do and let me tell ya, when I’m ready to bite the bullet and stop the fight…NY to YOUR CHAIR is where I AM HEADED!!!!!❤❤❤
The coloring is beautiful and quite whimsical… how long would this color stay for her before roots show up, or some brassiness appears? I wonder how difficult it is to maintain this beautiful color
Meu Deus a pessoa acaba com o cabelo com as tinturas!! 😮 O q vale é ficar loura igual as outras!🫣 Até q profissional fez um "milagre" nesse caso!! Sejam naturais, meninas🙄😓🤗💁♀️
I come from ladies who have been dyeing their hair for decades. I've always wished they would just accept the grey proudly like this beautiful lady❤❤❤❤
9 hours is impressive, there are many stylists who would only want to tackle this over multiple days. the results are amazing and a true testament to your skill
I absolutely love this salt and pepper, greys, silvers, and even white hair colors. Thank you for making these types of transitions for older women your specialty.
My daughter in law, a truck driving hairdresser, lol, did my gray transition but I have the opposite, I have a natural bright white streak, just like my grandma did!! I love my hair now!!
Very rarely have I ever died my hair throughout my life (I'm 58) because it is so baby fine and thin. And even then it was mostly rinses. So therefore i have embraced the grey. And ive loved it. Ive never had so many compliments from mostly younger women saying they love the shade of my hair. Mind you I am more what they'd call salt and pepper but, hey... I'm in fashion without even trying. This makeover however is absolutely stunning. What an amazing stylist. 😍🤩

What did you charge for this length of service ?

@@goodquestion1Lol exactly 💯 I look my very best when my dark dye is fresh 😅
I don't like my gray. I started getting gray at 19. Now 54. Ugh I don't want it....
9 hours and you transformed your client into a Silver Goddess! GORGEOUS work!
She is beautiful
literally!! like silver fox vibes. she's so pretty
What did she do in all that when she wasn’t being worked on?
Its amazing how embracing her grey actually made her look more vibrant.
This has been my observation when I see people go from dyed hair to their naturally grey hair. It looks so much brighter and healthier. They often look younger even.
It's amazing how she is destroying the environment taking 8000 miles flights to get her hair done 💖☺️
You are not a hair dresser, you are an artist with patience and passion! 👍
Amen!! Total artist!
I LOVE when women embrace the gray. It’s such a stunning look.
But who is going to keep it up??
It takes so much to keep this color.
She’s mostly grey already. There will be no need to keep up with coloring.
I love when women destroy the environment taking 8000 miles flights to get their hair done 💖☺️
@ the flight was gonna happen anyway, she’s not using a private jet.
@@moniqueengleman873 She won't need to keep it up as the gray is her natural color - it's going to continue to grow out like that;)
I swear this is one of the most advanced things a hairdresser can do.
