You missed that "Pressing men in Moscow" is a major step for Putin as he has been trying to avoid getting anybody from Moscow or St. Petersburg. By "recruiting" from the outer regions, he has been able to hide how badly the war is going, but if he has to pull troops from Moscow, it will quickly become apparent to Muscovites that the war is going very badly and they need a new leader.

The official information on the A-50 came out a week or so ago. It was a Patriot. A maneuver had been made up by some US military personal for a strategy to lure aircraft into an area and then move a Patriot battery up into a mostly compromised position to take the aircraft down then retreat ASAP. Ukraine did this. Now you could say this was too far away for the Patriot, but that is only based on "official" data on the Patriot. The US massively lowballs things like altitude and range on their missile defenses. I have also heard from people that operate the Patriot battery about if this is possible and they will just stress what the "official" range is... making the air quote gesture... But then they say it could have been a Patriot. It was NOT a friendly fire incident as you could see the air defense missiles they fire exploding way behind the A-50. So take your pick... a modified S-200 or a Patriot. An S-200 would have struggles against the flares, but a Patriot would have ignored it. There are plenty of friendly fire incidence and Ukraine is typically the first to point them out. The A-50 was not one of them. I have noticed that Russia does like shooting down their own helicopters. That press gang clip is horrible. Forced conscriptions to fight a war YOU STARTED is just wrong. The US was supposed to get 4 ground based mobile 300kw lasers this year and one naval. They should put a couple of these ground based ones in Taiwan as 300kw could take out drones at an incredible rate. It could also help with ballistic and cruise missiles, but drones are easy pickings. A singe 300kw system could take down thousands of drones. This would let the US test the system in real combat. We know the conflict is coming. BTW. Did you know the Russian stock Market is still closed. It went down on the 14th and is still down a week later. It closed at 3215.91 on Friday and after market trading had dropped it to 2,222.51. That is why they did not open it on Monday. Key words...war industry...
Royal Naval slang refers to the navy as "the Andrew". This is because a leading press ganger whose name was Andrew ? press ganged so many men into the navy. One method was to buy a man a beer in the pub and place a "kings shilling" in the bottom of the mug. As soon as they had taken a drink they were deemed to have "accepted the Kings shilling". This led to tankards being made with glass bottoms.
Good report !
