Looks a great setup for an extended tourer! As an automotive design engineer building a similar setup in a Defender, I'll suggest a slight modification for better ergonomics if anyone wants to build similar. Have a slightly lower seat height so your knees are bent more like 90°, especially with the cushions on there & use the bed panel that fits in the walkway as an angled seat back for support. Also whilst I love the operation of it, I'd suggest having the desk/workbench slightly higher in relation to the body position whilst seated & able to extend further towards your torso if possible. That will give a better working angle for your spine & feel better if you're sat working on a laptop/tablet etc. for an extended period of time. Still a cracking build though as everyone wants different things, well done 👍
I love it! Am I the only one attempting to do this in a Landcruiser shortie?! I think I must be, 'cause if there is a single example online, I'm buggered if I can find it. But this gave me some ideas for my build, so thanks!
nice pop top, wish there was something like this in the US, put one on a chevy suburban , we have the ultimate car camper overlander tour rig, its to big for tight trails but thats what 4 runners and wrangler s are for
This style system in the Troopy is not really workable with a bench seat in there - simply doesn't leave enough space for useable storage with the walkway in there. Lots of our other Troopy designs do work with the bench seat - you could have a bar fridge plus a drawer or 2...just no walkway.
I agree, the problem with the lifting roof is you are removing valuable roof rack space for all your “other gear” the walkway also removes storage space so your left will little storage all round These fit outs alway look good with no gear in them
That's a Mulgo conversion & you basically use the internal fittings to climb up as there's no external ladder. It's slightly different to the Alu-Cab in operation as the catches are internal rather than external & the Mulgo design is basically a fully engineered roof replacement cant rail with a tent fitted to it, rather than a rooftop tent resized to fit instead of the roof panel. Both good products, but as an engineer I'd only buy one of them 😉
@@gomarkc007 Have a look at Mulgo, Daniel is an engineer & can pretty much do anything for you. There's an 80 running round he worked on with a composite camper body fitted that looks pretty amazing 👍
Hey Matt. As shown in this video the total cost for the cabinetry is approx $6k - installed (currently - Nov 2020). But there are lots of options which you can add / leave off which greatly affect the cost so the price is dependent on each individual customers needs.
What a great setup! Curious, what size fridge is that? And what is the largest you can put on the side like that and still have foot room and a bench? OR really what is the largest size you all usually use?
america has got a shitload of great campers and cars to put them on from what ive seen, especially since fuel is cheap there so you dont have to worry if you get a humunus gas guzzler thats got an equally huge camper arrangement built into it. Not that it has to be huge to be good but i have seen a ton of good ones there.
Hey Noddy. we have done Defenders...really need to bring the vehicle here to HQ factory in Gloucester to discuss options. when you're ready send me and email mark@drifta.com.au and we can arrange a consultation. Thanks, Beechy...
Drifta does not do roof top conversions... just the fitouts like on the vid. Email mark@drifta.com.au he can point you to the right people. THanks Jake
what would be the weight of this set up. I was concerned the ply maybe too heavy, but if you are eliminating runners that would offset that a fair bit. Could you combed the width of those small draws to save more weight

Damn jealous of this troopy. Looks like a great setup.
I love it!

I’ve always wondered how you get into those beds. That’s a great design, you’ve made fabulous use of the space.
One of the best setups ive seen
I like the design and finish, I'd own it!
You are a genius Mark, really good setup
This is a nice set up.
Very impressive, like all Drifta gear!
Very honest spoken

I love this set up. It’s pretty close to what I have in mind if I ever get in to my campervan dream. always quality work Beechy 👍🏼
Dream setup
Awesome!
Outstanding
Would love to see a troopy camper conversion for 4 people.
Is it possible to leave the second row seats in place and still do a decent outfit?

Great design. Well done.
Excellent Design! Very handy...although please show how you get in and out of upper sleeping area.
The pop top is not really part of the Drifta package. Search youtube for Alucab troopy conversion you'll probably find something.
@@leeroys207 Thanks...very helpful. Can a Alucab be done on a Landcruiser 80 series so you have access inside the vehicle?

Hey Mark, What the driveaway cost for this setup please?! - as setup in video, just curious if you can give a "ballpark" figure please?!

Fantastic job! Could you do a similar fit out for a 2012 Mitsubishi Pajero? What would be an approximate cost for that style of fit-out? Thanks.
best to email mark@drifta.com.au or give us a call! - kaito
You didn't show us the water system.

its a national luna.
Thanks , have to keep dreaming here in the States.
You'd think that Toyota would realize there really is a market for Troopies here.

What was the rough cost for this set up including design work etc?
Lots of options - best to email.... mark@drifta.com.au

In regards to weight, will you use aluminium over plywood? Dream trophy for sure.
They maybe use lightweight plywood, big difference of weight between both

Great setup, What sort of $ did this setup cost if you do not mind me asking.
