That is a beautiful shop you have there! Nice!! Great videos, I have always been a LOTW'S fan.. Be safe have a great winter of fishing, I will be watching.
Just remember those helixes eventually. They're not going to service them anymore and the parts will be gone and then they go in the trash... Myself I kept hummingbird stuff but I'm switching over my livescope stuff to Garmin... The mega live 2. We don't even know how good it'll work because the mega live 1 was good for down imaging but terrible for Forward imaging.... I think hummingbird's going to have some problems with customers going ahead in the future but that's just my opinion.... Everybody can make their own decision..... Thanks for the info
@patrickethier6190 Those things last forever but they do eventually quit servicing em then they are tossers no matter what brand they are. My brother is still using my Hummingbird 1197 and that has to be 15 years old.
Just a note, I think if you're getting into the hummingbird ecosystem right now just go with Xolorer and don't get a Solix. They are discontinuing the solix moving forward. The solix and Apex have dual core processors as the new explorer models use quad core processors. Not that mega live two won't work on those units they will but are you running it at full potential? I always say try to future proof if you can afford it
The helix guys arent crying because they have helixs. They feel shat on because some bought them in the spring. And some not to long ago. Hummingbird could have just made a black box until the helix got fazed out, that would have done the customers right. They would have made money, customers could have slowly integrated into the xplore units, those whos going to upgrade right away will. Everyone would sit well and be happy. Instead this kinda just makes a lot of people want to go to another brand.
Have 2 Helix units and a 360 on my boat. Watched the videos of the new Mega live and didn’t look as good as Garmin Livescope . Garmin too is coming out with a new one. Guess I am moving to Garmin and keeping my Helix to run 360. There will be a flooded used market of Helix. Great if you just want a used basic unit.
Everyone is coming out with new stuff. The point of the video is to decide what you want and how much you want/can spend. There are more opportunities for high end equipment right now than ever before. Brand selection is one of those good choices
@ Yes the Helix not working with the Live 2 is making me spend money I would have preferred not to spend. mega live 1 was absolute garbage. Things change Humminbird used to be the leader and that’s why I stayed with them for over 20+ years. Good that we have choices. Videos like yours helped me make a decision on what I want to do.
