BTS Covid Mic drop
They actually most of the time always have hands free mics that are attached to their ear because they dance all the time so it’s easier for them. But I actually like the hand held mics better because the quality is the best, you usually don’t hear their heavy breathing with those mics.

I think they had mics in their hands, because this song is called "Mic Drop" and at the end, you'll notice him drop the mic... which you couldn't do if it was a lapel mic... i'm guessing.

They easily switch mic and headset mic in different situations.
When they use mic, their hands are not to dance easily, bt they always make perfect.
BTS have a diverse range of music they are known for their touching lyrics dance their humble personality their love for fans and they have one od the most biggest and passionate fans their music videos always have subtitles so plz turn the CC on too

As for the mic, I guess one thing that we can consider are availability of lapel/clip mic since 7 of them. If somehow SNL have it, it might not be that stable since they're dancing. One thing for sure, BTS also use lapel/clip mics & most likely there's a reason why they dont use it on this performance.

I liked your comment about the handheld mics. I thought the same thing, also thought the camera work and sound quality is not as good as I'm used to for bts. If you compare this to their Dionysus performance which was also TV performance, Dionysus is SO much better and I'm disappointed no in SNL for not doing better
