Bangkok: A Special Time, A Special Place (Bicentennial,1982)

I was living in Bangkok at the time of the 1982 Bicentennial.I watched on tv the live telecast of the Royal Barge Ceremony while my parents, being Malaysian Diplomats, attended the event as members of the audience.

I was an advisor to the film crew and was lucky enough to be very close to many of the celebratory festivities. The most memorable for me was the performance of the Indian epic The Ramakian at Snam Luang and being near the King (Rama IX) when he raised the "sky tassel" (ช่อฟ้า, chorfa) to the roof of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

had I known, I could have gone way back in 1982. I finally went in 2004. 15 trips and waiting on the next longer trips now as I coast into retirement
