BRAHMATAL : Brahmatal Trek | Brahmatal Trek in December | Lohajung | Raftaar Adventure

Doing Brahmatal Trek (peak time in December & January) was an unique experience. This is a winter trek which starts from a small village called Lohajung. Lohajung is 80kms away from Karnprayag. You can reach Lohajung via Tharali & Dewal. Brahmatal is famous for a beautiful lake & enchanting Himalayan views. Brahamatal is situated at an elevation of around 12,250 feet. This trek takes trekkers through beautiful forests, Bugyals and snow-covered Himalayan peaks. During the trek you can see Himalayan peaks like Trishul, Mrigthuni, Devtoli, Nanda Ghunti, Maiktoli etc. Brahamatal freezes during the winter season which looks astonishing. Brahmatal takes about 5-6 days to complete (from Dehradun to Dehradun).
You need to take permit for this trek. You can obtain this permission from Lohajung. If you are doing tis trek with a trekking agency then they obtain all these permission for you. Its better to take a guide with you as the path becomes very confusing as you cross a place called Jhandi top. I left fir the trek in morning, and by evening I reached Telang or Telandi top, which is a big meadow with stunning views. We setup our tent here & spent the night. Next morning we started from Telang top & reached the Brahmatal. While coming back to Lohajung from Jhandi top we took a different route which passes through the dense forest & big meadows.

I did my Brahmatal trek with a Trekking company 'Raftaar Adventure' which is based on Lohajung. Raftaar Adventure team managed all things related to my trek & I had an excellent experience.
Raftaar Adventure organizes many other treks of the stunning Himalayas in Uttarakhand. This company has its own beautiful home stay in Lohajung, where you can stay.
Apart from this, you can take trekking equipment and other trek related things on rent from them.
