Actually, in the season that this game was played (the 1990-1991 season), Jordan won the MVP by averaging 31.5 points a game to go along with 5.5 assists, 6 rebounds, 2.7 steals and a block. Magic averaged 19.5 ppg, 12.5 asts and 7 boards. Barkley averaged 27.6 ppg, 10.1 boards, and 4.2 assists. So, Jordan was the better player of the 3. However, the year that Barkley won his MVP was the 92-93 season. Magic was retired because of HIV at this time. So it's not quite accurate to say Barkley beat out prime Magic for an MVP.

Oddly, Buck Williams of Portland got more votes than Drexler did that year, too, even though Drexler averaged 10 more points per game, 3 more assists per game, as well as more steals and blocks per game, too. The only category Williams led Drexler in was rebounds. Curious. In fact, Buck Williams had just as many votes that year as Larry Bird did.

I watched a lot of these games live on tv. When I played a lot, I was a similar size to Barkley, and was a dominant player everywhere I went. I could just do a lot of things better than most of the competition, and surprised a lot of people.
Watching how effortlessly Barkley does what he does is REALLY impressive. If you haven't watched him earlier, and later, in his career. You should, because even 30-40lbs heavier he still does everything he does in this video. Even the years of wear and tear didn't seem to discourage him from doing whatever he wanted too. He was a special player, and blessed with extraordinary talent.

Garbage. All 5 players on each team standing within 5' of the rim, bricking contested shots. Wide open 3 point line that could have spread things out. They just weren't thinking back then. Making 33% of 3's is 50% from the field on 2's. What if you make a higher %? It opens up the lane, spaces the floor and allows easier drives to the rim.

The greatest playmaker and the greatest poward forward.Barkley should have joined the Lakers in 1991,Scott and Worthy were plague with injuries and Magic was starting to decline to slow down .But because he was still the premier playmaker ,Magic and Barkley playing together could have won at least two championships.Barkley would have energized a declining Laker team,he would have elongated Magic career and Charles would have won a well deserved rings.I have Barkley as the greatest power foward, not only csn he played in the post he could get up and run a fastbreak as well as efficiently pass the ball unlike Tim Duncan. But he went to Phoneix,a very good team but not the Lakers.Imagine if Jordan didn't have Paxon and Pippen,he would still be a great player on a subpar team.

@Joel Villarreal Physicality works both ways, a superstar can initiate contact and have the benefit of the doubt all the time. The star protection started with Jordan. Also, if the player is stronger, faster or more skilled, to smack them makes no difference. Now, if you use 2 or more defenders to trap the superstar, that at least have some minimum impact, it can bother them a little bit (like the pistons and sonics playing phantom zones against jordan and olajuwon respectively). In 1v1, the offensive player will always have the advantage considering modern basketball rules (mid 70's and so on), with the advent of star protection, the advantage got even wider.

Most of the players from back in the day, were way smarter when it came to knowing how to play the game. They knew what they could and couldn’t do. And their skills were better as well. Today’s player may be more athletically gifted and talented, (although MJ and Dominique were two of the most athletically gifted players of all time in any era) but I would wander how a guy like Steph Curry and Kevin Durant would have fared in the MUCH more physical era of the late 80’s and early 90’s. There are certain players throughout NBA history who would’ve been great in any era and other players whose greatness was perhaps greatly benefited by the rules that were in place at that point in time. I think Durrant would’ve been great in any era but Curry possibly would have had a harder time because of the physical play, and if we’re going before the 80’s, he wouldn’t have been anywhere near as dangerous because of no 3 point line.

This was early in his career so he was young that's why he looks lean. He doesn't have Aids and never has, anyone that has Aids is sure to die within a year if not months. He has HIV which anyone can live a full life with if you take care of yourself and he is rich and has been taking the best medicines for 30 years so I doubt the virus even still shows up on a test for him.
