Internet memes reimagining Garfield have been brewing since Garfield Minus Garfield in the 2000s. I used to play a lot of R-type back in the day. It does feel a lot like it, the only difference gameplay wise is the lack of Force, and the charge beam, but hey, is inspired by it, it doesn't have to be exact.

Lumpy, ive been following you all this years. Love your work. I cant wait for the day you create a brand new character out of your twisted imagination! you are the best
lately it's harder for me to sit and watch gameplay with text dialog, so the voice acting is super appreciated - amazingly polished game, and impressive gameplay as always
Wait...they actually made a game based off their animations? Mad respect to the dude...now I want a Where's Waldo NES styled game based off that series.

This is what happens if you feed your cat lasagna after midnight while also pouring water on it and exposing it to direct sunlight.
Especially since it's midnight
so to end the world you gotta take a cat to the antarctic or far north where it can be day or night for ages depending on the tilt of the earth
You forgot the most important bit; teleporting it with wheat-based food products.
So we're fine, as long as nobody teleports any bread

I appreciate that everything solid is white-outlined. Some of these games have a real case of "background or foreground?"
It's about time Lumpster finally made one of these Gorefield games playable. I've been waiting for this. I'm gonna have to open an itch account now.
About time ? Wasn't Lasagna boy basically already playable Gorefield with a small coat of paint ?

in order for it to be a true R-type tribute, the final boss has to have a crappy attack pattern and self destruct after about 20 seconds.
That's Gradius, R-type would involve throwing an invincible powerup inside and letting it damage the boss.
And then a random bullet hits you from point blank range
