As a guy that has only watched about 40% of the ms games so far this season. Julio is so excited to get up to bat and swing at everything that it’s even more upsetting knowing if he’d play a little smarter he’d be so good. No one knows for sure what goes on behind the scenes but I have a very strong suspicion that the coaches mostly just act like cheerleaders, where everything out of their mouths is just encouragement rather than working with the hitters to fix problems in their approach or their swing. I think Servais has done well for the most part but he strikes me as somebody who insists upon radical positivity 100% of the time and thinks if anyone is ever held to account for their repeated stupid mistakes, it's going to ruin the chemistry in the clubhouse. You do a good job in the video of pointing out the specific ways that teams are exploiting Julio's weaknesses, but it's not just him. That was the main reason they missed the playoffs last year and they're doing the same thing so far this year in those situations.
I'm working on something now but I could take a look if he's still struggling, I thought I heard he hurt his shoulder on a swing end of last year (?) and hasn't looked great since then. Glad to hear you enjoyed the video!

So Julio beat the all time Home Run Derby last year so, we know he can hit. But other Mariners are showing him up lately. Time for him to kick it into gear. It’s time!
Some Dominican hitters have been known for their free swinging or some call them bad ball hitters. Roberto Clemente was a great hitter but he did chase bad balls . Some he hit out of the park or for triples and others he struck out on. Julio reminds me of Roberto a lot but Julio is I think still immature and does not have a plan when comes up to hit, all great hitters go thru this, adjustments have to be made and that is what separates them from being a bust. One other observation is that Julio hasn't hit as well since his all star homerun contest where he put on a great performance . But that event has caused many slumps even Ken Griffey Jr. admitted that it hurt him for a period time something gets out of whack with the swing. I think if Julio could go back and watch video of his hitting before the all star homerun derby he might find something there , but he will still need to figure out what they are doing to him now as compared to before. Some of those chases were not strikes and it's obvious when pitcher successfully sets a hitter up especially now as as hitter will only get one good pitch to hit per at bat and when your struggling that's very hard to overcome.

I think he's got a big flaw/hole in his swing. If you watch, he dives with his upper body and gets out front with upper body instead of staying back. He's a great talent but he was hyped pretty quick and without necessary performance
They were writing him off at the all star break last season, remember that? then he went on a f--- heater and got his season numbers up to speed in the span of like 2 months, ya he’s gotta make adjustments, but I think he can and will because he has before
@MarineLayerPod This is my best friend’s channel. I honesty think yall would find this video interesting. -brought to you by the guy with the Connor Joe trade.
Today. Balls out of the strike zone 3-2 count with bases loaded. He swung at a fastball that was in the inside batters box. Never again will I pick this guy.
Naw I agree. Been concerning all season. I keep thinking he’s gonna turn into that guy and he just isn’t. He can’t stop chasing sliders and all his hits have been lucky bloops or ground balls. He’s honestly been awful. Constantly getting into 0-2 counts. He’s looked borderline awful. I’m concerned
He needs to go back to basics….get single base hits….whatever extra bases he can get from them. He has been swinging for exit velocity which is affecting his rhythm. I’ve always said he dips into hitting zone…I think he should open his stance ( he looks to be slightly closed)
I've never understood why his Rookie of the Year counterpart in the NL Michael Harris didn't then or since get near as much publicity and attention. Julio has been routinely (albeit incorrectly) put in the top 10 players in baseball. I didn't understand it then and it would be even more ridiculous now to not have Harris above him. He may not have hit quite as many homeruns but averaging 20 homers and hitting .300? That plays anywhere. Not to mention he is a much better defender in centerfield. Yes Harris is overshadowed by the stacked lineup of superstars around him but it's time he starts getting the nod over Julio as the best young Centerfielder in baseball.
You’re correct about the hole in his game, but he was batting .100 ish two weeks ago and is up to .276 Like this isn’t the end of the world and he’s on a bad team with zero lineup protection and an incredibly sus coaching staff
Julio please go back to the stance u had in the Olympics and in the minors where u held your hands high behind your head with the bat-head parallel to the ground!! Watch video of Julio's swing with his old stance before he moved his hands down; it was a lot more "handsy" which allowed him to better adapt to location - he had no trouble with the ball inside which is a big hole in a swing now that he's got the longer low-hands swing: th-cam.com/video/_e--9LTrTAE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=TwQuCZk0FosrK5Ku
The problem with Julio is Julio and the hype right now. He is too aggressive at the plate and is trying too hard right now. He hasn't seen a pitch that he thinks he can't hit.
He will heat back up. It happens to all of us. Quit hating. Every major leaguer has had slumps and lows. Not one has not had slump before. Dont quit on julio man!
Hes been a slow starter. Seems like hes heating up sooner than he had in the previous 2 seasons. We seen what he could do in one month last year. Once he starts hitting it out he'll go on a run.
You hit the nail on the head, Julio is NOT INTELLIGENT, I'd rather have someone who is smart like Freddy Freeman or Ichiro, Julio is a complete idiot, and just doesn't take it seriously. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink!
It’s called being young. He’s still 2-3 years away from what many describe as the beginning of his prime. This is still the player that was breaking records for over a month stretch last year. He’s just a victim of being young and learning how to put those stretches together more consistently. That simple
@@TheBrendanDonovanTrade it’s not a perfect science. Theres too many variables that play a factor in determining when a young stud will “figure it out”. They don’t call it the game of failure for nothing. The majority of superstars don’t become superstars until year 3 or 4. Trout wasn’t anything special his first couple of full seasons either. But he showed glimpses of what he could be, then eventually it clicked. Not saying Julio will be regarded as the best player on earth for several years (not saying he couldn’t either), but like Julio, the season is still very young.
@@TheBrendanDonovanTrade the exact same as it was before. did I not say he’s still 2-3 years from even beginning his prime years? Why would my thoughts change? I mean the team is first in the division with Julio being a “shell” of himself. I guess we’ll be top 5 in the league when he figures it out like he usually does.
I think he's got a big flaw/hole in his swing. If you watch, he dives with his upper body and gets out front with upper body instead of staying back. He's a great talent but he was hyped pretty quick and without necessary performance
They were writing him off at the all star break last season, remember that? then he went on a f--- heater and got his season numbers up to speed in the span of like 2 months, ya he’s gotta make adjustments, but I think he can and will because he has before
So, how ya feeling now?
He’s 23. Just got $220m, probably relaxed a little this offseason. He’ll be alright, just needs to lock in
Seems as if the pitchers found a weakness in Julio’s bat. Throw all over the place.
@MarineLayerPod
This is my best friend’s channel.
I honesty think yall would find this video interesting.
-brought to you by the guy with the Connor Joe trade.
I love that stray to Arte
I’ve learned my lesson with this dude. He’s too much peaks and valleys. Him, Seager and Riley have caused my team to flop this last 3 weeks.
Julio Rodriguez without the home run derby hype, he's Swanson minus the defense
Down and away then inside. He will strike out or ground out everytime
Today. Balls out of the strike zone 3-2 count with bases loaded. He swung at a fastball that was in the inside batters box. Never again will I pick this guy.
Bats are coming around a little but the pitching is carrying them w/ timely hitting.
He is pushing to bat to the ball instead of dropping bat head rearwards and getting through the zone. He always starts slow but he has to get it going
Move hem from # 2 it's to much pressure there n cost to manny games loosing .
Hope for the best in JULIO
Naw I agree. Been concerning all season. I keep thinking he’s gonna turn into that guy and he just isn’t. He can’t stop chasing sliders and all his hits have been lucky bloops or ground balls. He’s honestly been awful. Constantly getting into 0-2 counts. He’s looked borderline awful. I’m concerned
I hope somehow he can find this video and watch it
Julio will be fine I think, I hope you talk about Corbin Carroll though
He needs to go back to basics….get single base hits….whatever extra bases he can get from them. He has been swinging for exit velocity which is affecting his rhythm. I’ve always said he dips into hitting zone…I think he should open his stance ( he looks to be slightly closed)
It’s July and still underperforming
You’re correct about the hole in his game, but he was batting .100 ish two weeks ago and is up to .276
Like this isn’t the end of the world and he’s on a bad team with zero lineup protection and an incredibly sus coaching staff
This is a solid team.
Hard to argue about the protection.
I am suspect of the coaching staff as well.
Ya 260 with a bunch of weak singles and very few extra base hits .
The fact he hasn't fixed this is scary.
I woild be more worried if he didn't struggle to start last year as well
Julio please go back to the stance u had in the Olympics and in the minors where u held your hands high behind your head with the bat-head parallel to the ground!!
Just about every star has slumps. Baseball is a mental game. He is fine.
So, how ya feeling now?
The strikeouts are very concerning…Elly De La Cruz seems to gotten better with them, so maybe Julio will, too.
So, how ya feeling now?
Mariners have NO coaching lmao
His numbers with bases loaded kills me bro, I rather have seby up with bases loaded 😭
I think this will be a problem for him going forward and the mariners are locked into him for too much money and a decade
Hes been a slow starter. Seems like hes heating up sooner than he had in the previous 2 seasons. We seen what he could do in one month last year. Once he starts hitting it out he'll go on a run.
So, how ya feeling now?
You hit the nail on the head, Julio is NOT INTELLIGENT, I'd rather have someone who is smart like Freddy Freeman or Ichiro, Julio is a complete idiot, and just doesn't take it seriously. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink!
Hes having a sophmore slump in his 3rd year. He will be good
So, how ya feeling now?
Hes been terrible
Yep he is a bust! It's baseball hardest sport to stay good at!
Biggest bust in history. Looks like a toddler with a wiffle bat.
Feels like I'm watching the same decline i witnessed Lindor endure.
How are you able to make this analysis but the Mariners hitting coaches can't? Sheeeesh.
If Julio become Javy Baez I will actually kms
vlad is broken
It’s called being young. He’s still 2-3 years away from what many describe as the beginning of his prime. This is still the player that was breaking records for over a month stretch last year. He’s just a victim of being young and learning how to put those stretches together more consistently. That simple
I hope you are right…
What about the other young hitters that manage to put it together before they are 26?
Are they just at another level?
@@TheBrendanDonovanTrade it’s not a perfect science. Theres too many variables that play a factor in determining when a young stud will “figure it out”. They don’t call it the game of failure for nothing. The majority of superstars don’t become superstars until year 3 or 4. Trout wasn’t anything special his first couple of full seasons either. But he showed glimpses of what he could be, then eventually it clicked. Not saying Julio will be regarded as the best player on earth for several years (not saying he couldn’t either), but like Julio, the season is still very young.
So, how ya feeling now?
@@TheBrendanDonovanTrade the exact same as it was before. did I not say he’s still 2-3 years from even beginning his prime years? Why would my thoughts change? I will add this though…he could really use somebody else in the shitty lineup who can hit the ball somewhat consistently. He’s expected to essentially be our savior. That’s a lot of pressure for a 23 year old. This game has enough mental difficulties as it is.
He’s heating up.
When you are being paid GENERATIONAL salary on a GENERATIONAL contract you MUST have a batting eye......Julio is yet another over-hyped hitting prospect in the long line in the past 30 years. The Ms have NOT developed a single hitting prospect with an EYE in 30+ years! This franchise has no clue what it is doing from an offensive perspective.
It’s genuinely hilarious how everyone seems to regress in Seattle lol
I was enjoying the video until you just had to diss the dodgers man I can’t watch any baseball video without my team being insulted it’s getting annoying at this point
Julio becoming the next Javy would be so funny
This video is stupid, its early and J-rod will heat up like he always do..
So, how ya feeling now?
A lot of A tier players are off to crappy starts this year.
He’s raised his batting average almost 100 points in the last few weeks lol
So, how ya feeling now?
@@TheBrendanDonovanTrade Just fine, it’s classic Julio. He will get out of his slump again and have another slump most likely. He always has a better 2nd half so give it some time
@@TheBrendanDonovanTrade I’m feeling just fine.
He’ll get it together again, second half is always better for him. It’s part of his game now haha
@@aaronops32 waits until Julio has a 2 extra base hit game to respond… nice 👍🏻
@@TheBrendanDonovanTrade I knew you would say that. Never sent the it last time
As Julio has the highest batting average in the last 7 days
So, how ya feeling now?
@@TheBrendanDonovanTrade I mean, still the best hitter on the team, but that’s not saying a lot, down year bust still best position player on the team
Mmmm… debatable, depends on what you value and what you are considering during an evaluation, be he is definitely the most talented,
… but regardless, the skinniest turd in the bowl is still just a turd.
ai voice
actually not, just a very youtube voice
Some Mariner fan. Put it out to the world. Why dont you diss on somebody from Texas. Dont make a video when jrod hits .476 in july
He’s not doing that bad. It’s the first month. Chill bro
He is doing pretty bad
🤡🤡🤡🤡
So, how ya feeling now?
Trade him
Numbers wise, he’s actually off to better start than his previous 2 years🙄
Wrong
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
🤡🤡🤡
🤡🤡🤡
This guy clearly is only looking at AVE. 🤡
Now hes got 33 hits with 11 rbi and .270 ba nothings wrong
It’s all singles. His ops is terrible. He’s playing horrible
Lmao exactly.. he's making 40 mil... He's paid elite... Seeing eye singles hitters don't get that cash... He's been terrible
So, how ya feeling now?
And Julio started off slow last year too.
So tired of the "worried about JRod" narrative. He's a slow starter. He's fine. He'll be fine.
So, how ya feeling now?
He will make the adjustments tho. He has every year so far. This is nothing new for him
😂😂😂😂😂 the guy who made this video obviously doesn’t know Julio as a player. Saying things like he needs to be going up with a plan says you don’t know his game. Julio has always been aggressive it’s what makes him who he is. It’s barely April and this is baseball he’ll eventually go on an absolute tear for a few months and end up with solid numbers at the end of the year. Julio will eventually adjust.
So, how ya feeling now?
*CHIEF!!!!!!!!!! It’s been a month and change* Holy hell! The Cubs will take him off your hands.
Julio starts slow EVERY year. do your homework.
So, how ya feeling now?
I love heating a guy talk. You probably never played past high school level. and this is coming as a former pro player 😂
😂😂😂you dont have to be a former mob player to see what's plainly obvious, that julio swings at EVERYTHING. And who cares if you were a "pro ball player".....95% of gym teachers in this country played minor league ball at some point. You obviously werent good enough to be willing to drop a name.
