The term you're looking for is 'heat sink'. There's no synchronisation going on, just a thermodynamic bucket for heat to go to. In this case the heat is coming from the water and being sunk into the regulator.
For sidemount divers you are advised to avoid diving with Miflex XT Tech hose, it's exterior clear coat makes it REALLY hard to deploy & stow the long hose against the strapped tank.
