yeah honestly should have been sung by the two most creepy voices (and dudes) from the beach boys: Brian and Dennis. Brian also has the most connection to the song too obviously.
Of COURSE it's creepy: a group of bearded, balding, pot-bellied men singing about (presumably) a teenage girl entering sexual maturity. That aside, this mix of what later adorned the plagued "M.I.U. Album" has fascinating moments. For one, it seems to be the classic Beach Boys line-up (3 Wilsons, Love, Jardine) playing and singing: Mike, Carl, and Brian (a wobbling 2nd verse, and an addled but still expressive falsetto throughout), and Dennis' even more hoarse rasp. The catchy tune is undeniable and the harmonies are classic pure BW. No one wrote little gems like this, seemingly at will, the way Brian Wilson did.

Adult/Child is a document of Brian's life and thoughts at the time, he was mentally all screwed up and often reverting back to simpler times and themes. The more I think about it, filtering out the less-than-savory bits doesn't do the experience justice for me. It's not a song I'd ever listen to on its on though

What would a video of this song be like ? A drooling middle-aged Svengali type of guy, imagining himself as a teen, finally talking Gidget out of her dirty jeans, and dressing her up in a tight skirt and a form-fitting bra, and then teaching her how to "be a lady". Sounds like a cross-cult between "My Fair Lady" and "Lolita". Bonus credits for Dennis bringing in Charlie Manson as casting director.

If I may put a word in defence of this song, it's similar to other creepy young girl songs by the beach boys (such as roller skating child and I wanna pick you up), but artistically they are good songs because they manage to capture the awkwardness of adolescence, where biologically we're adults but our minds are child like.
