I respect your personal sentiment, your stance and indignation on current events. It’s high time someone said what most of us have been feeling. Before this unprecedented worldwide pandemic, I’ve already been existing and thriving in my own social distancing. Ppl often deemed me as peculiar because of my resistance to the absurdity of what has become of our society as a whole. Common sense is no longer common and I refuse to accept mediocrity as a norm. You have built a little peaceful haven for yourself and nature has responded with tranquility and serenity in your surrounding that no amount of money can buy. Thank you for sharing handsome Jack and your beautiful dreamscape cottage with us. I love your genuine energy and your silky voice that tends to put me at ease. May we all live our lives to the fullest and to the best of our abilities despite of these uncertain times. 🌹💜

The sadness has overtaken you today - it grips me also at times - the destructive greed and apathy of man - you are not alone - it can seem such a solitary grief. It is always nature that returns the beauty, joy and peace. Perhaps the lack of realistic role models help create this consumerist world - you are a realistic role model Colette - you are making a difference - blessings xx

Oh wise Collette. What you say is how we all feel, those that love our Mother Earth & have tried to tread lightly on her. You home is worth more than that big house. I always say to my daughter, big houses mean big bills. Like you my husband & I have never had or wanted a credit card. We are lucky we owe no one anything. Friends moan about our Kitchen, as it not fitted, nor has it ever been. Well it has a sink, cooker & fridge freezer, dresser & odd bits of furniture, all old but useful still. Well it feeds my little family & my many house plants love it. I send many blessings to you & Jack. I enjoy your videos, while in my old Kitchen in my house that needs "doing up". But shelter us it does, as does yours. Stay well & take care. Regards from Northamptonshire UK.

My parents raised six children, clothed, educated and fed them and there wasn't a penny of debt in in sight. We wore secondhand clothes, bought secondhand furniture, secondhand cars, never had take aways, restaurant meals, my parents never indulged themselves in expensive holidays, clothing or any other bits of aspirational kak. They had one mortgage in their lifetime and it was paid off as a priority after five years. They were so hard working and had a sense of what was really important well before their time. My mother was a hard women and her mother too but I'm so glad she was.

It is 2023 and I just watched this video. Your vision of the future appears to be right on. I am encouraged with the young people I see today, seeing what is important to them. That so many of them recognize the true nature of what is important and what is not. My years are coming to a close and while I know if will be hard for them I also know that they will manage. For about the same length of time as you have I have lived a life more tuned to the spiritual part of us. Perhaps it would have been better had I started sooner but I am of the opinion that it is never too late. I am optimistic for the future. Meanwhile, I am very glad to have found your channel and several others that have helped me remember my ancient history. Your home is what dreams are made of.

I am so very sad how people are behaving! I was a trained nurse who loved her job, due to illness I had to reluctantly retire early on Medical advice! But I must say I am so disillusioned by people how they treat each other and behave so badly towards each other! I am so dismayed, I love my own company, my home , my garden! My family! I am so sad, people are moaning because they are denied their holiday!

I have just watched this, over one year now from when you posted it..
You are spot on Collette...and I have recently been thinking over so many of these things.
I too remember when we all ate locally grown foods, in season and we appreciated when foods such as tomatoes and strawberries came into the local greengrocers.
We have become so used to having whatever we desire readily available all year round and have lost gratitude for the wonderful nutrition mother earth gives us.
We have lost respect for this beautiful planet and for the many trees, plants and animals we share it with.
It is time to create a new way of living in harmony with nature.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
You are indeed a very wise soul.
Thank you for all you do for mother earth and thank you for inspiring me.
    🙏💚🌿🐝🌻🐾🐾

Earlier this month we saw videos of the water becoming cleaner in Venice and dolphins swimming in the canals. Then photos from space showing how air quality is dramatically improving all over the world. Now, in the past few days, there are more and more videos of wildlife showing up in towns because everyone is inside. All this in less than a month!

I continually tell my children and friends, that in life we are not entitled to anything. If we want to eat, we have to work hard for it.. want clothes, save and then take care of the clothes you have, the shoes, the vehicles. Everything is a luxury, and deserves our respect.

I live in rural Victoria Australia and we are seeing a different thing happening here. People are selling the big city houses, down sizing, working part time, growing veges and living a far more simple lifestyle. Many here are calling this the simplification movement. I know friends in the US are seeing the same trend there. The “corporate economy” just does not work. Many have literally become a tool of paid slavery where multi nationals are driven by greed and profit at the expense of people. I love my life...it’s is simple, and comfortable.

It made me teary when you said your house had been on the market for 5 years as nobody wanted it. Look at her now, all she needed was someone to give her some love & a chance to flourish! We live in the centre of a small city in a 100 year old house on a 1/4 acre. We often think how we would love to move out of town onto alot more land, but also know that our house & established gardens would be snapped up by developers & bulldozed for townhouses or the like. I sometimes feel torn as it'd be lovely to be out further in the country, but also feel like we are custodians of this small inner city plot that has an abundance of habitat for the native birdlife & 100 year old fruit trees. Realising that we are working with & supporting Mother Earth no matter the land size or where, makes me want to stay! Thanks for your channel, I have just recently found it & love it! 🤗🌱

I made the conscious decision 2 years ago that when I turned 60, I will not buy anymore stuff, except necessity items. My children are grown, they need little of me now. I can enjoy my time with them more, we can do all those little things that seemed to only be wishes in the day.
I enjoy the fact I remember those simpler times if old. When people bought those clementines only during the coming of Christmas. I don't need fruits that are native to other lands all year nor summer fruits that you only got during the season. That is what preserving those items was all about. My jams and preserves are a hell of a lot better than those made by big companies. What I can't grow in abundance for the year, I either purchase and make sure nothing is thrown away or I go pick my own at a local farm.
Talk about slavery to the rich, I am with you on that.
I find we have been living in a very sick world of the elites having too much power.
We have not come a long way as far as slavery. Yes people cry over the injustices of the past but don't see they are a slave to the rich and powerful.
The rich and Celebrities with their foreign maids and gardeners etc., it is demented thought that sees them as something to celebrate.

I totally agree with what you are saying. I personally am enjoying the peace of social isolating, not having the pressure of having to be somewere, just having time to listen to nature and bird song and to see the lovely blue sky without all the planes. Not sure I want to go back to the hustle.

I admire the resolution of your voice as you share your thoughts, the strength that not only has not abandoned you in all these years, but has grown day by day and has become a great wisdom. You are very fortunate to have chosen to follow your dream, against all voices. For having remained all this time faithful to your principles and to your true love for Mother Earth. I am touched by your words! Thank you so much! Best. Marcela

Collette, Here we are some thirteen months since you first published this thought provoking vlog and just what have we witnessed ? Sickness, suffering, and death on a scale not foreseen and, unfortunately, it continues. It continues, in a large part, because of the greed of those who monetize, those who profit from the misery of their fellow men and women. I read an article this past week that was celebrating the fact that nine people had been added to the list of billionaires in America as a direct result of the pandemic ! My stomach lurched at the very notion of it ...
I came to your website by way of your friend, Terri's, website in my effort to find a bit of peace and sanity and refuge from a world gone insane; I seem to have succeeded. Your thoughts and commentary seem to bring some clarity to my own as I try to plan for an uncertain future.
How I wish that we were not separated by an ocean ! I would so enjoy sharing a pot of tea and an afternoon of conversation with someone of similar values. I'll just have to settle on watching your videos ! And give Jack a good ear rub for me, too ! He's such a handsome and happy looking fellow.

I've lived rural for most of my life. Isolation is my normal. Gardening is my passion and that's not a team occupation. I prefer my quiet time with the critters and the aura of my plants. It provides peace and tranquility. Works for me. I will never understand why people need so many things and the next new experience. I have been fortunate in that I have had most everything I've wanted, but my needs have been pretty simple. I've also been fortunate in my husband. He's a good man and we've worked together to make our life as good as we can. Being happy with what you have is a big step in finding happiness and contentment.

I would willingly sacrifice many items now considered luxury including foreign holidays , I would far rather hang on to our wildlife , our meadows our woods and forests. Thanks for the video! Like you we retreated to an abused and unwanted parcel of land on a mountain here in Nova Scotia 15 years ago. We have rehabilitated the land, living off grid with little in the way of finances. We now have a beautiful homestead shared amongst 9 people, where we can be almost completely self sufficient. Many people visit us now for inspiration and to learn from us. The Mother plants Her children where they are most likely to flourish and promote Her agenda of life and healing. You are where you are in service to Her. She will provide what we need, we just have to watch and listen. Blessings on you my sister! You are not alone in your efforts!

  • @Space_Trucker

Colette, you are not alone, and I feel the same frustration and sorrow that you feel. Seeing what is happening to this wonderful earth that we make our home and the foolishness to which people are responding to it is incredibly discouraging. What you are doing is our only hope for starting to repair the damage that we have done, and I personally am in the process of making a life-changing decision in response to this pandemic - one that will hopefully put me on the path to a journey similar to your own. You are an inspiration to many, thank you for what you do. And please take whatever time you need to think - we have many videos to peruse in the meantime.

I grow strawberries with my husband in Australia. Last year we worked for $20k, put it into this year turn over $250k and not one cent has stayed with us. Wages $33 to pick strawberries . We have a small farm. I am in my 50’s we are one of the last of our generation of small producers in the area. I am done. I have been crying my eyes out at the very things you have been talking about. I have no idea how to earn an income anymore. I have been blessed with intelligence and skills. I am a registered nurse and can longer work in the health system to heal others as it has destroyed my body and altered my sensitivity to extreme. I too am no longer angry, I have no energy for anger. Not sure of the future myself, thinking of new ways to work with Mother Earth . Great video I will be subscribing. Thank you for your thoughts.

You’re video is just beautiful, makes me happy to know there are kindred spirits out there. I feel guilty when I think to myself, how little this pandemic has changed my personal world; I certainly am pained to see the loss and have loved ones on the front line whom I care and worry deeply about, but in terms of my home life, my home is still my sanctuary and everything I need is still here, waiting outside in my vegetable garden and inside in my kitchen and my book shelves.
Home is my sanctuary and my children and I are together and we are feeling hugged inside our home. We don’t go on vacations and so are not missing things of that nature. We are not bored because we don’t rely on things outside of us for entertainment. The weather starting to turn sunny and warm which will keep us busy planting and weeding and providing for ourselves. There is yeast in the kitchen to make bread to keep our bellies satiated. Our world has become simplified out of necessity, but for those of us who lived simple lives to begin with, the adjustment has been a breath of fresh air and I believe the chorus of birds I can now hear singing (for lack of car and airplane traffic) would agree. Be well friend!

They need enablers to help them keep their pointless and damaging lifestyles. So I want to thank you very much and send you a big, huge hug from Florida, where I tend to my little enchanted forest and getting much bliss from it ❤❤❤ all the best to you and all here on this channel ❤

I would never go to Dubai. I know people who have and they think they are special. I actually think what a waste of money and think they are no better than poor people that works there.

Dubia is a very horrible place. It is just a big load of buildings in the middle of a desert no farms to feed anyone all food is imported. The poor staff who service all the big hotels are Muslim people from those countries who's economies have been devastated by wars and they are all crammed into the city next door called Sharjah which is ruled tightly as a very conservative Muslim area. Which keeps the slaves in their place!! I feel sorry for the workers in Dubai. I had to go there to work on a ship and do some training so I had to stay in Sharjah for a few days next door to Dubai. I found it very sad to see the Indians, Pakistani's, Filipino and Yemeni people all slaving away every day for 2 years before they are allowed to take a weeks holiday to go and visit their elderly parents in their own country. It's sad to see that these Ultra Muslim Muslims treat their poorer brothers and sisters in such abusive ways.

Agree with every word..when I was a child in the fifties & sixties nobody we knew went on planes anywhere. What was a holiday 😄 a day down on the shore...in the sandhills. Butties & squash in a bottle....happy days. No money sloshing around for anything but basics tbh.
    Blessings to you there...from here.

Claudette ~ Thank you. Again. For your calm & wise words. Blessings on all you do to educate, inform but, most importantly, leading by example. Your humour adds that extra dash. It’s not ‘gallows’ humour, it’s punny, funny and fun. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing. Do what you need to do. I will be rewatching your videos from the beginning as I just started planting this last year and have been planting in earnest (I just felt moved to do so) the past 6 months. I have a patio that is 10/15 ft. only edges have any soil but I have 4 trees growing and vegetables/herbs growing in pots. I am making my own mini greenhouse this week. I believe it is a time of great awakening for many. Be blessed Colette and everyone here. We need love at this time. As always huge hugs to you and Sir Jack❤️

    Hello my friend,
Many many interesting thoughts indeed. I had my own personal connection lately of sorts in a weird kinda way. I have been living on $750 a month SS here in USA. At 66 now, much of this has been my own struggle to be financially stable and or independent since my divorce in 2010. But here I am now with an odd kinda feeling about excess and $. I have had NONE of each. So I have had to think and act differently. At times having resentments when nothing has turned out the way I wanted.
I’ve been resourceful.. grateful.. l lost my home a few years ago( my gambling ex) and almost everything all that was valuable. I now have no car...
I have had to walk places
Take things into stride many times
And find joy in my own space and time. Patience in waiting and wanting. I do have a couple
“ WEALTHY “ friends. They seem to be the ones least to help.
I guess I am understanding what you are saying about “ EXCESS” and all the global attitudes it brings.
Here in my own small world
I am used to being in..
Use to being frugal and happy to go with the flow.
I think what I would actually love to have more of is like minded friends in my life.
I will have to now WAIT to go out and find those as well. 🌈🌈

We lost everything 10 years or so ago. Nobody was offering any help, until we said that we will have a lot of stuff to gave away. It is really in hardship when you realize who are your real friends. You also realize what is really important in life. Sometime we need hard lesson, to open our eyes. Thank you Collette for what you are doing to mother earth, and humanity at the same time. Chantal from Canada. xoxo

Another thought- my grandmother had a saying ( a criticism really) that some people knew the price of everything & the value of nothing. I hope that in the midst of this pandemic more of us realise the real cost of our everyday lives & reconnect with things of meaningful and lasting value.

I agree with everything you've said ab5the true cost of things Colette, we as a species, (especially in this capitalist western society) have totally lost touch with reality, seasonal food, seasonal living. Living with our Mother instead of battling with her to suit our own wants/needs.
We need to take a step back, see what is realistic and in tune with nature. It is the only way to survive. Thankyou for being a beacon of hope and inspiration in these dark times. Blessings to you and Sir Jack xXx

Oh my goodness... I wish I had a video of just the sounds of nature in your yard. It's hard to hear nature like that in the city, over the roar and whistles of trains, sirens, loud cars, airplanes, slamming of car doors, rattling of delivery trucks, and people arguing outside. 😥

Your perspective, accurate as many of us are seeing. What a shame so many can't be free of these rule/war/greed mongers. We're in a struggle, yin/yang, our lives and the life on MotherEarth and as you've so beautifully and accurately stated, "the real cost". I am of the same living as you. Thank you for all the encouragement and your beautiful presentations of life as it could be for many instead of working for those who have no appreciation or value for people's time with family/ grounding themselves for health. Peace and blessings.
