Bought these and went straight into a 7 mile ruck, easy money. They've been my go to winter boots. Held up very well through rucks, day hikes, backcountry winter camping and even construction demo work.
im 38 and Canadian so I will never be in the running for a ranger tab, but I gotta say I enjoy the information you share and the way you present it!👊🏽
There a 45 year old first sergant here with me rn, If we can do it so can you, you can also be a different branch or even from a different country and come here
Sir! That 5 o' clock shadow is a no go! Lol I I'm going to start buying gear as soon as my pay issues get fixed. Thanks again for this video!
Def size up half size and opt for wide version on these after taking into acct potential for foot swelling and sock thickness
The hero I didn't know I needed
I’ve only got 20 miles on my Garmont t8 Bifida, I’m breaking them in for a military selection and so far they’re great. Got them wet rucking through the snow and they dried fast. Next I’m buying the Lowa Zephyr to break those in for my second pair of boots I’m taking to selection. I also have the Go Ruck MAC-V1 boots and they’re great as well for rucking. Merino wool socks are a must for rucking! I prefer Darn Tough and Farm to feet. Personally not a huge fan of fox river although they’re good too.
Appreciate your words on the boots. I have been wondering about quality boots for a while. I'm gonna try this pair out for the NM winter. Wish you all the best with your training. Great motivational stuff happening here!
Man I’m from NM and you’re best bet is to go somewhere in NM like silver city or ruidoso and walk and hike with a pack. Especially during the winter time. I’m currently in NY and they have one of their own pre ranger schools here and I’m telling you it’s horrible during the winter for those guys. Best of luck though.
@@jaimesandoval1337 Thanks Jaime. I just got back from a hike here in S.F. Up and down and up and down again in the snow. Felt great for the first snow of the year. 38 lbs. pack. All snow gear. Had a blast. Hope you get awesome work out today.
also good luck on that Best Ranger tournament sir! Rangers lead the way!
I'll have to check those boots out, they'd be great for JRTC since we're going in Feb. I won't be able to go to Ranger school until spring.
My Air Assault class started with 256, and ended with 111. So I'm assuming you got that tomahawk competing against 100+ soldiers on that 12 mile ruck, my money is on you for the best Ranger competition!! Thanks for the great recommendations as always brother!
Yeah man, I’m proud of that tomahawk! 🤘
Great info and great to see my notification go off with a new video. Great to see your stuff every time.
Good info about the winter boots. I have no cold weather experience myself
Garmont is simply awesome. Been rucking my T8's for the last three months and logged a ton of ruck miles on them....still minty fresh. Price point is awesome and durability the best.
I just found your channel you are putting out great videos this is my new favorite channel HOOAH
In the beginning of the video you said you were doing a workout for recovery, can you make a video showing what that would look like and discuss the reasoning behind doing certain exercises? Also do you have any tips for better muscular endurance of the legs?
Probably need to go half size or more up to allow thicker socks with the Garmont T8 GTX Extreme boots.
Best wishes to that little angel there
I was just wondering when you were gonna upload I swear to god I was just watching your last video when you posted this haha.
Live in Canada, agree with inserts, as mentioned, being uncomfortable.
Very. 👍
Times have changed ..was in 3rd batt 87-91 and we were issued nam era jump boots and that’s all we were allowed to wear …
Those are the inserts that go with winter boots. Got mine in Korea with the Belleville cold weather boots.
what temp do these start to make the feet uncomfortable? im lookin for boots that are good more mid-late fall, through winter, and to early-mid spring (50-70 degrees F max where im from). do you reckon these are solid for that? if not im taking any recommendations
Great video I’ve been trying to find boots for ranger school
I know that this video is about boots for Ranger School but I have a question. Do you use a rubber boots for rucking / trekking / hiking / camping? They are quite popular in Poland and Russia. For me, 17.5 miles walk in 3 hours 50 minutes is comfortable in rubber boots. Last Saturday I have been marching for eight hours streight in rubber boots. It was ok. Rubber boots are cheap, very easy to clean, they dry fast, quite warm with a woolen insert. Better blood circulation. And you do not have to worry about wet conditions
Great advice boss, im heading out to MEPS in January its a blessing love you all! Leave no man Behind!
Awesome Video keep up the good work
awesome video! do you think plantar fasciitis will be a problem for those with flat feet? I've been in the field a couple times and when I can't roll my feet with a ball it just builds up foot pain.
Yeah you might want to get some supportive inserts!
Check with Podiatry at your clinic on base, I have a similar issue myself and got a couple inserts free through a referral with my PCM. Happy training!
@@goarmybeatnavy841 thank you!!!!
Hey man! question for the 12-mile ruck in rasp are you allowed to use your own ruck?
No youll use the MOLLE 2 issued ruck
Any idea about RASP 1? I was not given a packing list. Iv been resorting to searching everywhere online but nothing official for RASP it’s self.
I'm glad I found your channel and am binge watching your videos. You have inspired me to get back into rucking. I never had to ruck in the Air Force but did start a few years ago with some people. I've been looking for some good boots. I bought a pair of the Garmonts but they were too small and had to be returned. Do they run small? I ordered the normal size I wear. Just wondering if I go up 1 whole size if that will mess my feet up rucking?
Yeah you don’t want to get boots that are too big, that will cause blisters for sure. The Garmonts should be true to size. I’d try maybe a half size higher first to see how that feels. Also should account for a wear-in period. They might just need to be worn in.
@@GrittySoldier I got 10 wide but could barley get the right boot on. The left was a no go. My foot couldn't get down inside at the bottom of the tongue. I must have weird feet. I was thinking about trying an 11 but do not want blisters. I'll try 1/2 size bigger and see what that does. Thanks!
Do the standard army issue cold weather boots meet the requirements?
How would these boots hold up in say, fort drum NY conditions?
I like the Garmont T8 BIFIDA's (although I changed out the laces for thinner, speedier ones), so now I'll try out their cold-weather cousins....
✅Order boots
✅Sub to channel
Thanks for the recommend!

😂
GRITTY SOLDIER!!! I got a good question I didn’t realize this till after I bought them but I didn’t realize their was 2 different extreme GTX garmonts. The one you linked was extreme GTX and I looked on the site and their was 200g thinsulate garmount is selling. I need help if this makes a difference in passing or not
These boots are sold out all over the place! Must be the Gritty Soldier bump
For wet and cold, you want something that's veg or CXL tanned leather.
Nice!
200g vs 400g is there a big difference ? I’ve used the garmont extremes in my career, but in my current situation I’m wondering if bumping to 400g would make a big difference.
Because that’s what Ranger School requires.
I have the 400g S2Vs for those cold days doing Bradley gunnery in January in sub freezing Temps and find they make my feet sweat a lot and I don't have particularly sweaty feet either.
Boot, Combat, BLACK, one each.. That's right I said it.
😆
Black boots? Lol we still had green 🤣 aren't you special. Amazing seeing the gear from what I had to now.
@@tsmith1439 Green... jungle boots? Bfd I know you were issued a pair of black boots
@@Richard-lu8ck yes green altama is what I wore. They were just coming out with black and those were either options we had.
Jungle Boots lead the Way!
How does the sizing differ? I take a 13 in the T8 NFS. Hope it's the same with these as I don't usually wear a 13.
For insulated boots it’s advised to go up 0.5 in size especially if you’re gonna be putting in inserts. I got them .5 up in size and they feel basically the same as my normal pair of Garmonts with just a little bit of extra wiggle room
I have every edition of Garmonts now lmfao.
😂 then you are ready for ANYTHING!
@@GrittySoldier stay ready so you won’t have to get ready sir.
Awesome
I wish rice Krispy treats kept my kids that occupied when they were younger. Working out in the garage, vlogging and watching a (18 month old?).
That’s next level….this deserves the …but did you die? patch
The key is to keep all the power tools at least 3 feet off the ground 😂
