radiant historia 3ds had like a 5 hour demo
Honestly the 3ds had a ton of great demos, especially for jrpgs
Bravely Second reigns supreme tho thanks to its core design of being a 5 hour prequel chapter and all its extra bells and whistles
Both of those demos were a huge party of my childhood and love them so much to this day.
Danganronpa V3 of all freaking games actually has a bit of a similar thing with its demo, though that one is a non-canon story with the protags of the first 2 games kinda just being there

too bad I kinda fell off dongobongo when I lost my save half way through 2
Bravely Second is my fave of the Bravely series.

I love Ballad of the 3 Cavaliers for all of the reasons you mentioned, but especially for actually allowing the player to spend some substantial time with Janne and Nikolai before the main quest. That alone leads me to replay it also whenever I wanna replay Second.
Man, between this and Dissidia Prologus, Square was on some shit with their demos in the mid 2010's. Makes me wonder why their Final Fantasy division decided to go as hard as it did.

same, i still remember them putting out that offical art of edea holding 2 joycons and getting excited
13:56 gave me whiplash. It's my own fault, but trying to set up account switching (I have a native PAL account, but also an NA one because... the PAL PS3/Vita store sucks, and silly me wanted to acquire games legally) made the Vita hacking experience a nightmare for me
Oh the first time I tried to hack my vita was a bit of a nightmare, I got like 80% there and never got round to doing the last steps
Its much MUCH easier now, It does take a bit more effort to do some of the fancier things with it like setting up micro SD card support and android emulation to play vita ports of mass effect inflitrator and Dead Space's mobile demake but the base hacking is super easy
@Kraftium I was pretty similar. Hit the 'can't be arsed' threshold and put it in a cupboard. That was about a year ago, now... I should dig it up and pester the hacking discord again.
Also, yes, microSD card is a must

Be sure it works I found 2 (one was seemingly just encrypted and the other just didn't work) pretty quick but couldn't use them and it took a hot minute to find a mega download for it
oh, i got mine from good ol hshop. was encrypted. but can decrypt and run fine ^^
unfortunately it seems that there isn't an undub version.. so i'm stuck with english voice acting for the demo

granted I needed it on citra to record and play in HD anyway (i know i could transfer it over after but thats work)
I really like the bravely default and second dubs so luckily I don't mind that (granted dual audio is always preferible)
Red Nova Tyrant has a video about exactly why the devs apologized for Bravely Second! It’s a great game… in its international release. I wouldn’t want to play the version Japan got either, it sounds pretty bad. I’m glad we even got Bravely Default 2, and I hope we get another game in the series.
The unique story of the demo is pretty fun, i had so much fun with it ❤️ also I barely realized after all these years that Nekomancer is a pun for Necromancer, that’s really cute lol. I don’t hate Catmancer as a name though

I prefer a LOT Bravely Default 1 and Second, than Bravely Default 2.
@@Terranigma23 BD2 is okay to me, and I’d rather replay Second because the quality of life features were great (and BD1 becomes kinda a slog even though I adore the game lol, it’s not something I really like doing)

@@KraftiumIf you've never read it, there's a book named MASTERS OF DOOM about the founders of id Software and their contributions to gaming. I listened to the audiobook read by Wil Wheaton for extra nerdiness. It's an interesting look at how games are made and what's wrong with the industry today. You'd probably like it.
If you're ever considering reviewing it for the channel, DOOM was made here in Texas not far from where I live. I drive by their old offices in Mesquite all the time. If you wanted some footage or pictures from the area, I could certainly get them for you. I mean, 15 minute drive for me, 5000 miles for you. Just sayin'...
nice video! I still think Recettear has my fav demo but yeah it has a lot of the things that make a good demo in general. you play the first chunk of the story, you can transfer your data to the main game AND it has the cutest anti piracy message I've seen in a demo. Still i do wish (mostly because of things like the 3ds and wii shop no longer being around) that you had the option of either a demo OR have it be a kind of prologue chapter attached to the game... because they made such an integral part of the story a separate thing it's now risking becoming lost media and that sucks...
but yeah keep up the good work!

Those are good too but they don't have an original story that helps elevates the main game's which is why I'd still put bravely on top
I played bravely second and never played this demo I think. I thought it just be like the first demo. Huh always wondered why they tried to make you feel invested in those other two. I still was disappointed in bravely second it felt like it didn't do enough diffeerently for it to need a direct sequel but eh payoff is payoff
Thats fair, though I still think BS did alot better as a sequal than BD2 did
I replayed the fire emblem awakening demo for years before actually buying the game.
I hadn't played a FE game since sacred stones, booted up the demo, played 1 map and was like "shit's still peak lets go"
I remember being so confused when I used a demo for Sonic and Mario at the Olympic games and it only let you play the game X number of launches.
I never looked at the Eshop ever again after that.
Luckily the Bravely Second demon was classed as a "Special Demo" which was normally reserved for special event stuffs (there was a pre order demo for pokemon ORAS like this and also one for smash bros) that had unlimited uses
I didn't play the demo because I had the game preordered. The next time I play Second, I should play the demo.

Have you seen the amazing bravely offline emulator? It lets you use the streetpass mechanics even on ur pc. I do wonnder if it works with the demo's tho, and if you would even be able to get a rom of the demos lol.
Oh wow thats neat (figured they'd be a way to do so but didn't look into it). I think theres a good chance it'd work with the demo tho since the street pass data is its own thing seperate to the game if I remember right
You can find roms for the demos still but they're notably harder to find I had to find a reddit page with a link to a site to a megaupload page with a password to get mine

I haven't played demos in such a long time, I sort of recently did it with Promenade and Stellar Blade but I just don't have the enthuasim for them anymore especially how God of War Ascension came with a Last of Us demo that was pretty crap and it made me think the game was not going to be good, so while I prefer demos over trailers, track records and reviews, at the same time, they also don't do a 100% good job at selling you on a game. I'm not even sure if the Stellar Blade demo I talked about was any good, I was just confused by the whole thing. I did used to play them a lot in the early years of me being a PS3 gamer since games were hard to come by, but now it's harder to care.
Demos to me are good in concept but there are too many variables to consider.
As for emulation, it's rather amusing how Nintendo and Sega systems seem hard to emulate for. I primarily emulate Sony systems and occasionally a GBA game so it seems I never had much in the way of issues. Then again, Nintendo just proves that they are in fact the worst 1st party game company going today. Microsoft are just hilariously incompetent supervillains and Sony just seem to be complacent at where they are as of now since Switch is on it's way out.
I'm still watching the vid mate but uhh it was Yakuza 6 which did that blunder not Kiwami 2

@@Phantom_GabrielI have a PS3 and there's a lot of retro game shops in the area. Should I get into the Yakuza games? And if so, where should I start? With Zero or with the first game? I feel like I'm missing out on something of significance.
@@100Servings honestly speaking yeah Zero is honestly the best place to start the series
However it's on PS4 Xbox and PC while there is a PS3 version it was only released in Japan
While the very 1st game was released on PS2 tho honestly try to play it with the Restored patch mainly cos the English dub for the 1st game is honestly pretty bad so either using a emu or a hacked PS2/3
There is the Kiwami version but it's the same thing with Zero when it comes to platforms
Tho there some stuff Kiwami I'm not the biggest fan of
It is the current best way to play the 1st game
And yes me saying all of this absolutely get into the series it's honestly one of my favourite series of all time next to SMT/Persona and Trails
(Tho I will say 7 and 8 completely change the gameplay from a beat em up like game to a turn based JRPG so don't be shocked with that)
@@Phantom_Gabriel I can handle a JRPG quite handily, as I have conquered about a thousand of them in my 40+ years of gaming. Also, I was stationed in Japan for a couple years in the military and travelled extensively when I was there, so I have a leg up that a lot of Americans don't. That said, should I just try to find the first game on PS3 then? Would that be Kiwami? I think Zero is available on PC, but I prefer being a console peasant. If it's that important, I can use my computer though.
