    Hey Ben, was interrested in a filter like this but after research i was a bit less hyped after i saw the 25 watts power consumption. i then found the Aquael Turbo Filter, the 500 version only uses 4.4 watts. similar system to xpertmatic, inexpensive as well. they have different sizes and you can get additional chambers as well. i ordered one, reviews on amazon looking good. Have a great day! greetings from germany

      @derTaktgeber 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i guess xpertmatic is some kind of a channel sponsor ;) and i am not sure if aquael is available in the U.S. but this could be a good, low power, low noise filter.

      @BenOchart  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Let me know what you think of it. What's the estimated GPH (or LPH?) and compare that to the wattage needed.

    The many things that are killing me about your move are 1. You are all about EDUCATION with a bit of entertainment. 2. Your tanks are established and you show why. 3. You are the filter MASTER. Best videos EVER!!! F Richard with the ULTIMATE

    One day Ben, your moderator will post first! I have faith it will happen one day, lol....J/K. Great video Ben. Your one of the very few aquarists that's actually taking the time to show people how these filters work properly.
    Keep up the great work!

    Hi nice filter but wanted to know what the little black clip is for.? It resembles 2 back to back horse shoes. Lmk thanks for the great video.

    • @BenOchart
      @BenOchart  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That clip attached the Venturi airline tubing to the powercord to keep the airline up and out of the water.

    Great video and interesting filter. I love the design, seems like it should be able to lower the maintenance on canisters and other filters in the tank.

    Thank you, can’t wait to get mine hooked up. Love things that are easy to clean. Question...that carbon cartridge, can you open it up and refill or is it a once and done?

    • @miked6335
      @miked6335 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was wondering the same thing. The Amazon page shows that the carbon cartridge lid can be removed using tweezers.

    • @janicelange8987
      @janicelange8987 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Took mine out of the box. Used small needlnose pliers and pulled cap off. So I guess that’s a for sure.

    • @BenOchart
      @BenOchart  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes with needle nose pliers or tweezers the little cap comes off

    My keeps making a humming or buzzing noise intermittently. I’ve just installed it without the hose Seems to be running well. But buzzing noise is irritating. Any idea how do solve

    • @BenOchart

    I have a 75 gallon and dealing a bacterial bloom any thoughts it’s been going on for about two weeks I run a 407 and a sponge in the tank what should I do help and my tank isn’t over stock

    • @BenOchart
      @BenOchart  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will pass on its own eventually. If it really bugs you throw some Seachem Purigen (a bag) in your filter. I have it in my Amazon store: www.amazon.com/shop/benochart

  • @na1du
    @na1du 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did your nitrogen cycle did a mini cycle once you clean the sponges?

    • @BenOchart
      @BenOchart  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never experienced that. The tank, if you don’t disrupt too much, should hold.

    hi great video do it make an different rinsing my sponge canister filter intake under tap water to faucet it's a small sponge on my Samsung 404b canister intake

    • @raycooper2287
      @raycooper2287 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never use plain water, dechlorinate it first, or use tank water. You want your beneficial bacteria to colonize in the canisters.

    • @roystevenson1297
      @roystevenson1297 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      okay thanks I'll see you on Saturday cichlids and coffee

    • @fishandfloral
      @fishandfloral 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you’re talking about an external sponge only covering the intake tube and not the filters in the canister, then yes, you can rinse it in tap water if you really needed to. It’ll kill whatever beneficial bacteria is growing on it, but depending upon tank size, that small amount of bacteria may not be making much difference in your cycle.

    This filter is not as effective as it could be… you can see that the bottom section is completely being bypassed, it was probably clean, while the top 2 have all the waste.
    The side vents of the media sections shouldn’t be there. You might as well just keep the top 2 sections.
