The plot of the serial revolves around six expatriates working in Jackson Heights in New York City

Salma works very hard at Haseena Beauty Salon. The owner of the salon Aalia is a good friend of Salma. Salma stays with her mother-in-law and step daughter Iman and is the sole breadwinner of the house. Her mother-in-law is cruel to her and makes shrewd remarks on everything she does. Later in the series it is revealed that Salma's husband Sikandar is a convict doing his time in prison and has been released early due to good behaviour. Sikandar is abusive towards Salma and has no constant source of income. He gambles and mugs people and sells stolen watches and cell phones in the gray market.
Imran Bhatti is a cab driver with a heart of gold. All the other cabbies of the neighbourhood admire and respect Bhatti very much. Bhatti came to New York fifteen years back on a tourist visa and has never been able to go back to Pakistan because of his illegal visa status. Bhatti has told everyone in his family that he owns a cab company in the US. His ailing mother lives in Pakistan with his older brother and sister-in-law who treat her badly.
Bhatti is married to an American woman Kathy as part of a citizenship deal. Kathy is mean and rude towards Bhatti. Kathy's daughter Isabella shares this attitude with her mother. Her son Mark however, is close to Bhatti and looks up to him.

I love Nani character and she played it so well. She was perfect fit for the role, can you bring her in other roles too please. Really liked her voice and demeanour! Great actor.

I'm posting it with wet tear dropping eyes....exactly our story!!!! My grandparents passed away one after another, literally with blindfaith anxiously and eagerly every single day waiting for their eldest son, immigrated to USA some 35-40yrs back....He was in his teens when flew and now himself a grandparent came first to visit us when my grandfather, soundly sleeping deep down in his everlasting grounded-bed (grave) and then came after 10yrs when my grandmother caught up in dymensia bed - ridden unable to respond to anyone anything (paralysed)! All my khalas were married, waiting for their eldest brother to had his blessings on their big day...but....they had kids borne who grew up and married but the one left them to Capture American Dream never came!!! Now, we the second generation and they, at US are nothing but two different world's!

you felt emotional and imagine our agony then; seeing our grandparents treating themselves at government hospitals when their son was Green Card holder! At the moment, that Family home has been sold out particularly on his insistence for grabbing his share in the inheritance. My question to all reading these comments/watching this serial: why the mesmerizing glamour lights and God knows what more there put blinkers on your eyes so firmly that the ground (mother) from where your seed has been sprouted; day and nightly nurturing (father's labour) cannot even for once allow you to look back! Why cannot your strength and strong hold over life may nourish your roots (parents).
@@binaIrfan my dear your story is sad. But trust me, for those of us aboard. Life is not easy. Our needs are always put aside to help those back home. They never stop being needy. They never stop begging. My kids are not in a private school. We do not have the latest phones. We do not wear designer clothes. But those back home are dressed better than us. I work and have worked all my life. First as a child, I saw my parents send their money back home and I always thought we were poor. Now, my husband does it. There never has been anyone in my life who put me first. It was always those beggars. My husband bought me an old car. He found it and I paid for it. But his nieces told him he was so nice and spoiled me. A car is a basic necessity in this country when it is -38° Celsius and you have to get young kids to school. Believe me, we are not sleeping on beds of roses here either. Our life is hard and stressful. The stress us augmented by those back home and their endless needs.

Brilliant how they have shown not only what Pakistanis go through to settle in foreign countries but also how back home in Pakistan families are. Unfortunately alot of families think their relatives in the UK or States are made of money and have bags of it. We don't even us British Borns work so hard to get through. We are definitely not made of money
I feel sorry for Bhatti because this is a reality of a lot of Pakistanis they get mistreated by wives , husband's, bosses.
May Allah make it easy for all those who strive to have a better life for their families.

This serial authentically portrays the reality of south asian people; otherwise, they would have chosen someone with better looks,people usually get ready to be part of tv serials regardless of their ethnicity and nationality. Every main character is commendably played by senior actors.

Mera khawab tha jab main europ jao ga tu pyari nani apni ko zaror yaha ly kar aao ga mgr main ah gya mgr mujhe time itna lag gya ke meri nani ko allha ny bhulla liya. mgr aab main ny socha hai apni ami ko yaha bhullwaon ga vist ke liya ab dekho waqat kya karta hai.
