ROCHESTER, NY - Downtown Walking Tour - MAIN STREET - 10/21/2022

- Visiting my hometown of Rochester NY. This is a walking tour starting off from East Avenue (near Alexander), then onto East Main & West Main. There was a lot of construction/road work going on downtown during this visit.

Yea, there was a lot of downtown construction in 2022 (and into 2023). Things are better since then, not so much on the west end, but foot traffic has picked up on the east end (during nice weather tbh).

My hometown. They’re trying. It’s looking actually a little nicer on the east side with new businesses on East Ave and E. Main, but wow it’s a complete dead zone on West Main. Hopefully the city can be revived. I love that place.
They’re were some signs of life though. A few restaurants and coffee shops with some traffic! I’m totally rooting for downtown ROC!

A regular, internal microphone on a cell phone will exacerbate the sound of wind. Looks pretty still for being on the ROC.

Where are all the pedestrians?
It was kind of eerie. They were doing a lot of construction/road work downtown at that time, so that may have contributed to the lack of people? I just went recently, and it’s still fairly dead downtown unfortunately.
Retail shops are all but gone, and restaurants/bars/coffeehouses are sparse.
Unless you work/live downtown (or there is an event), there’s not a lot to draw people to go downtown.
3 years from now, it'll be completely empty.
