Great video I own 2 of the 2017 models and they are great reels especially for anyone that is newbie to bait casters as I am. Make sure you set the spool tension to eliminate the side to side play and you are in business. Not to many people or saying that part on there DC reviews of these reels which should be said..

Good video...
I was at the store today looking at DC reel and the sales person pointed out the problem that even with the drag set all the way tight you can still turn the spool with your thumb!
Is that a real problem?
How do you deal with that issue?

I know what you’re talking about. That’s the only complaint I have about the reel. You have to set it to the max in most cases but it’s not terrible. You still get good hook ups. Thanks for watching!

Have a couple of DCs but not the 2017 or 2021 Scorpion. Which one will cast farther of the two with a compact 3/4 oz bait with braid? A toss up?

Hard to say. They are both really similar. Possibly the 2021 just because it has a larger spool. I love them both!

How do you take it apart to clean it I have one but I’m scared to take it apart. I’ve had mine for about 9 months and it’s starting to get a little “Geary”.

I usually take the side plate off and take the spool out and clean everything with wet q tips then put grease and oil in the bearings and certain spots. If you research on TH-cam you will find videos to help you so you don’t mess any part up.

is the scorpion better than the curado dc? I'm looking for a DC for my Adrena. Can you throw baits under 10g with the Scorpion?

I don’t own the curado dc but I do love the scorpion. I own the 2017 and newer model and love them both. I would say the scorpion and curado are very similar but i personally like the scorpion better. I’m not sure on how light of lures, I haven’t tested that enough to say

I personally don’t own that reel either but I know some people with it and it seems like a pretty good reel especially for how much cheaper it is than the scorpion and curado dc’s. Also, I had to buy both my scorpions through amazon

I don’t have the curado dc but from my knowledge I’d say it might be a tad better than the curado but they’re both very similar. I personally like the scorpion better but they’re both amazing reels

@@NateFFishing my bad, thx for the reply. It does pair exceptionally well with the scorpion dc. Although I remember a friend of mine used to have this rod and it snapped while fighting an amazon peacock bass. Thats was kinda disappointing for the amount of money they cost.
