I can't believe I found this video but I am glad I did! While I could not find Leather Rescue, I found a leather conditioner on Amazon and it did the trick! I have a work boot with that ASTM F2413 safety toe cap and it was making a sound only on my left boot and I think was coming from the sole near the toe cap. I poured about a third of the bottle into the boot and rotated it around to coat the bottom and then about thirty minute later I repeated it but this time bending the boot to simulate walking. When I tried again after an hour the sound was gone! Thank you and I really appreciate this useful tip.
Oh, man, you saved me a bundle. I was going to have my boots resoled for ridiculous squeaking deep in the midsole. The minute you started talking about the solution, I knew it was going to work. Thank you so much!!!
I used this tip on a pair of Nick's BuilderPros. They has developed a very loud and persistent squeak in the ball of the foot... It was extremely annoying and now they are quiet. So happy! Used the Leather Honey brand. Heated it a bit in the microwave and poured it in the boot as suggested. Thanks again!
Edit: Turns out the sole/midsole is NOT where the squeak was coming from, the explanation below turned out not to fix anything. So i tried applying a liberal layer of the Leather Rescue over the outside of the boots, paying special attention to the stitching of the cap-toe, applying more there. I let them sit for 24 hours, and just got back from a couple mile walk around the city. Squeaking problem is now solved, so it was the stitching connecting the cap toe to the vamp. -- original post below did now work. This was successful for me and so far I am pleased with the results so thank you so much for the video. I have a pair of maybe 6 or 7 year old Blake stitch leather boots that were squeaking from about the balls-of-the-foot area. First I tried using a liberal slathering of Bick4 Leather Conditioner in the shoe (since that's what I had on hand), coating the sole, for about a 10 hour soak. This did not work. Bick4 is not a liquid as much as it's a runny cream so I don't think it's really able to get deep into the shoe layers. Once the Leather Rescue arrived, and wearing a pair of nitrile gloves, I put about 3/4 oz in each shoe as well as a bead around the welt stitch (faux or no) just like in this video. I rocked each shoe around to coat the interior as evenly as possible, ensuring that some got over the edges of the sole and down to the insole where the stitching is. A fair bit did collect near the impressions where the balls of my feet sit, which is fine since that's where the squeak was coming from. I waited about 9 hours overnight and the shoe still had some oil in it so I waited another 12 hours. After 21 hours (give or take) total I wiped out the last vestiges of remaining oil and put the shoe trees back in, and left them overnight. The next morning, today, after maybe 30 hours total give or take, I removed the shoe trees, they had absorbed some of the oil that I am sure was squinching out, and I threw on some thick socks and took a walk. No more squeak that's been ongoing for years, I was about at the end of my patience. NOTE: I do not know enough about shoes, or Blake stitch leather shoes, or even these boots in particular (can't remember the brand, and I know they're discontinued anyway) to know if this amount of oil applied will in some way negatively affect the shoes in any way. Being Blake stitch they most likely have a fiber board insole and not a leather insole, and while I don't think drowning an all-leather/cork boot in oil would be an issue, not sure how this much oil will affect the fiber board that's underneath. I will update if anything changes.
I had new georgia boots that were squeaking after a week of wear and I used the same leather oil and it worked, no more squeaking! I let it sit for 2 days just to soak in good. My socks are oily, but i figure it will be like that for a few weeks until it is all absorbed. Now I can sneak up on people again!!!
Wow! So glad I found this video. Recently treated myself to a new pair of goodyear welted leather soled shoes for work, but after a few weeks of wear they started squeaking bad in between the leather midsole layers. I can't wait to try this!
Just bought a pair of great Replay leather shoes...the sound like Donald duck talking. Saw your video and i have to ask...i dont have lesthr oil available...would Johnson's and johnsons baby oil work the same?
Internet stole everything I had typed. So now short version. Thank you whites loggers will get this treatment. I was leaning this way but your video convinced me. Thank you.
thank you for your video ! I have a squeak on my Guidi 788V backzips that has really been bugging me. Just ordered the leather conditioner you used on Amazon and it arrives tomorrow. Hoping it will take the squeak away! Cheers and thanks again man
Just poured nearly half the bottle into the boot and along the side stitching like you did. Nothing yet. Did you have to wait a few days for it to work ? Thanks
@@mid-cityfashionfilms7253 it worked ! Thank you so much !! I had tried nearly everything else this was the only solution that worked. I did one more application of the oil how you described the following day, and like magic it was gone. Thanks again
I've gone through several of these Cabelas work boots. But this new pair I have sounds like a freaking duck !! But only my right foot. I've tried the baby powder before with some reults. But this pair is out of control. So the squeaking isnt coming from the sole inserts ?
Although i can appreciate the information hear. As a boot guy i wouldn't do this unless i absolutely had too talcom powder would be a much safer option. My fear would be the potential of the oil breaking down any glues that maybe used in the construction process causing the shoe/boot to fail prematurely.
Please describe the squeak you treated. I have a squeak in a Viberg service boot (CXL) with Dainite soles. It seems to be coming from the outer sole area. I hear no squeak if I walk on grass or carpets. I’ve rubbed the sole with a dryer sheet, WD40 and fine grit sandpaper without results. The squeak began after they were broken in. Also, I don’t hear the squeak when I walk on a hard surface if I point my toe in or out. I think it might have something to do with the shank, but will give your fix a try if your problem and mine are similar. I’ve just tried to wear the squeak away, but that hasn’t worked either.

Is it oily or wet after a few days if you pour it inside the shoe? Does it stain your socks?
No! Few days should be ok for socks.
I agree. The leather soaked it up well. Wipe the excess and you should be good.
Thanks for your video! You're right! I kept looking for something on this.
I know about caring for leather shoes but this is simple and easy!
Yes, a little messy but it works.

Mineral oil is not recommended for leather.
@@mid-cityfashionfilms7253 too late. 😆 Already used it. Will see if it did anything by tomorrow.

@Mid-City Fashion Films have to admit it just helped. I think if I keep it up it may get rid of it eventually.

All leather construction will give you the best chance. Not sure if Cabelas is all leather construction. Let us know.

It was hard surfaces for me. Most likely the midsole leather on leather rubbing. Not sure about yours. Might go away just by wearing them. Good luck!
Thanks for the tip 👍🏻
Is This Tips Work
Any time!
I did it and it worked I let it sit a day then let my warm feet massage it in took out squeak
Can i use this on a timberland boot? 😅
You can try but Timberland has rubber inside so might be iffy.
I tried sand paper and rubbed the bottom of the boot and it doesnt seem like its helping lmao
Squeaking from outside the boot?
I try it
