      Came here to make the same comment. Was just getting fascinated by the process, then it was over. More like this please. But longer 🙏

    This is a beautiful piece of enameling and a great videos showing its process . I recently purchased a very pretty 8” copper plate with bright red enamel top over hand carved nature scene with a bird and the most beautiful blue bottom, it says made in Japan. Don’t have much information about it but this video taught me that it is a base-taille piece.

    A truly beautiful object. Good clear explanation of the enamelling techniques

    Fascinating! I wonder how this was done hundreds of years ago, without the plastic film?
    Gorgeous artwork! Particularly the red glass ❤️

      I've a friend who's a silversmith. She says that according to her elderly teacher, back in the day you just sketched in pencil right onto the metal; you could wipe it off with a damp cloth if you messed up.

      Well, that was perhaps the most interesting video I’ve seen on YT. Almost unique in that I wanted more when, for most videos, I’m screaming less. Congratulations to the production team including getting the choice and volume of the music just right (for me). If you haven’t been and are able to go, please visit the V&A; a stunning museum with more to see than you can fit into a day. Go for a coffee to the tiled room; I defy anyone not to spend a lot of time there.

    Using an actual feather to apply the wet enamel to the piece.

    I wonder if gemstones could be powdered to dust and used instead of glass, or, would the fusing temp be too high for the metal to retain it's form?

  • @england6013

    How does the silver not melt

    • @keltai83
      @keltai83 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The melting temperature of the silver is much higher than the melting point of the enamel, so the kiln temp is set high enough to melt the enamel but not high enough to damage the silver. I imagine before modern kilns with thermostats it must've been a really nerve-wracking job!
