These birds are so beautiful, and friendly, too! The one in the Philadelphia Zoo's new McNeil Avian Center comes up close to visitors and never seems intimidated by crowds.
This bird is a Lady Ross's turaco, or simply Ross's turaco. Calling her a violet turaco would be incorrect, as they are a different species, in the same genus however. Google violet turaco and you won't get this bird.
@MorganFawnvern I agree that few zoos are good places for animals , but not "most" zoos. What do you mean by "most" zoos? Most zoos in States , or in the entire world . "Most" zoos in Asia , middle east , Russia , Africa and even some part of Europe are nothing but HELL for animals.
@MorganFawnvern And animals are the ones that must pay for that , right? Just cos some people can't travel to Africa to see them in their own place it does not justify keeping them in zoos. Those people can watch them in T.V in wild. It's just so unethical and mean to capture these animals and keep them in a place they really don't belong to.
what a dipshit ............ you have a narrow minded image and perspective " the wild" . have you considered disease predators hot cold starvation injury etc . do you just regurgitate other peoples bullshit .ever think for yourself and consider a full spectrum perspective .......maybe a animal prefers security over the wild ?

Violet and Ross's are two different species!
Beautiful creature , but I prefer to see them in wild , where they belong to ...
