Somebody should make a fan fiction film about the adventures of the Blue Wizards in the East, now that would be interesting!

Credit to the costume designers for a great job! Yes, the dialogue was very weak, “what little there was “. The story could have been better.
But! I’m still impressed with the overall effort. Definitely a mixed bag.

Hi! I'm Kili of the video, and thank you for thinking us dwarves to be so young 😂 We're both 30+. We did overact, as that was what the director (who also wrote the crappy script) wanted 😂 So I do not disagree the script being (kinda) shite.
Also yes, we're basically all cosplayers most of who've done the costumes (by ourselves) based on the film. So thank you for saying we kinda look like them and complimenting the costumes! 😂
For all of us actors, it was a fun side project to do during corona.
Thanks for covering us anyway, this was a fun watch 😂

@TolkienLorePodcast Pros of being tiny, you're almost dwarf sized by default 😂
(Extra "lore" drop: Originally we were cast as Kili and Fili, hence the resemblance but director decided in post-production that we were not them and thus the names are never mentioned 🤷‍♀️😅)

It was nice but certainly not of the caliber of the other Tolkien fan films such as Born of Hope.

Director (or mostly cinematographer, editor, VFX, sound) of the film commenting here. I agree, the film was never written as a "story", it's more of a video with goal of referencing lots of elements from the movies, almost like a parody in that sense. The dwarf actors were around 30 years old very short women and elves stood on boxes in some scenes and some scenes used CGI or camera angles to increase their size. The project started as a cosplay showcase video of Fili and Kili, maybe a minute or two long, but we also met Thranduil and Queen of Mirkwood cosplayers so we invited them over to the project. At that point I thought it would be nice to have more elves, because what is King without its people? Then I asked cosplayers I knew from previous projects to make costumes and join the project. The idea of the dark-haired dwarf pulling the trick in front of the elves was to show the magical power of the ring to be something one can't explain. The writing was never done, even the idea of voiceover came to the film during/after filming everything, before that it was more like a music video. It's just a fun project and we were never expecting it to get more than a few thousand clicks ;)

If you look in the description of One of the Seven you will see Tolkien Lore is acknowledged for "Sindarin Pronouciation Guide"!
All the actors are LARPers, it would seem their costumes are their own. The Fili and Kili actors are two young women, they are interviewed in the behind the scenes documentary, which I found more interesting than the actual film. They are just kneeling when interacting with the taller elves.

    • @TolkienLorePodcast

It’s still worth checking out. Loads better than rings of power. And it’s literally for their children to get involved with Tolkien at a young age. And the level of costume and the music is where it’s at, especially the elves. The talent was in the photography and scenery film work. And we know Tolkien would have loved to see children getting into his work as he read to his children and so have many peoples parents and grandparents were read Tolkiens work. Even George The Giant Slayer after his rescue from being kidnapped as a child his grandparent/parent read to him Tolkiens works for days and days until he recovered. Even to this today Tolkiens works however people got introduced to it has saved their lives. Even PJ films have inspired people to get into very real things like survival, smithery/ traditional swordplay, getting into the professions of sorts❤️

Alright, then. That’s just the impression I got from your description. Very much like that fan film about finding Gollum. That one really felt like it was made by someone who confused the books and movies. But no matter what, we’ll always have the amazing Russian version of Lord of the Rings, so there’s that.
