Just making a correction, at the 14:20 mark I refer to Any Colour You Like as track nine instead of track eight by accident. I put a note in the video during editing but it got deleted somehow and doesn't appear in the final uploaded video.

You were right the first time. The song "Time" ends with the line "Thought I'd something more to say", which is immediately followed by the third verse of "Breathe" called "Breathe (Reprise)". In their final concert at Live 8 in 2005, the band performed all three verses together as one song. Depending on how you count, I hear ten "songs" but eleven tracks.

Oh, forgot to add...I saw Pink Floyd on their A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour at Veteran's Stadium in Philadelphia in 1988. I had a floor seat, but it was in the back of the floor. Everyone stood up on their chair when the band came on and i couldnt see a thing as i was short and only 16. So i went to an upper level, and a nice older couple in the fromt row had an extra seat and let me sit with them. I had the most incredible view of the stage and circular screen and when the chorus of Us & Them hit each time, the colored lights pointing in at the center of the screen would swivel around to face the crowd and turn bright white lighting up EVERYTHING. It was simply breathtaking. Best concert I've ever seen. I'll never forget it.

The band made a dvd for the Wall that's basically a movie version of the album that tells the same story and plays all the songs over it. For decades pink Floyd resisted the tracks being separated; each album was presented as a whole compendium, the balance only resolved when the whole album was listened to,in one go.

To get that twangy delay you mentioned on money, he used a binson echorec which is an old school style delay that allows you to combine different delay times to get that unique effect. Things that we all encounter in our lives: the struggle to get ahead, randomness of accidents, letting time slip away, money, conflicts, the illusion of choices (i.e. "fate"), and death. The heartbeat bookending the album indicates a loop, repeating for each generation.

I just want to recommend listening to the whole album, then commenting on the record. If you don’t, that’s cool. Just listening to Pink Floyd is awesome. Glad to have you sit in the space that has molded many of us. The next albums you should listen to in order are Wish You Were Here, Animals, then The Wall. Echoes, on the album Meddle, the album before DSOM. It's where they finally got it together after years of experimentation.
Roger Waters described Echoes as the band finishing their apprenticeship, producing the masterpiece required to qualify and then saying "right lads, get your aprons on, we're going to do Dark Side of the Moon".
Best listened to on a beach with massive speakers behind you, the Sun has just set, the crescent Moon about to set and the stars are starting to come out. Close your eyes get taken away by the music. When you open your eyes at the end the Moon has set and the Milky Way galaxy is overhead. Sit in silence with the waves lapping on the beach.

I'm about 18 months older than this album, and I remember hearing somgs from it on the radio when i was 10 or so, but when i was 12 I bought the cassette, and listened to the whole thing. I can still see my room and remember how I felt listening to this album. I copied it to a blank cassette so i could keep a copy in my car. Ive probably purchased this album a dozen times over the years, as some would get worn out or scratched, or as the band put out different versions, etc. Simply put, its a perfect album to me.

Dark Side of the Moon is one of the best albums of all time. It stayed in the top 200 sales for more than a decade! Like most of Pink Floyd, you need to listen to and think of the album as a whole, not a collection of individual songs. Sit back in the dark with good headphones and lose yourself in a re-listen of the whole album. Mind "enhancers" are not necessary, the album is all you need. Listen to a mastered album or CD quality at least to pick up all the subtle details of the incredible production. The Wall and Wish You Were Here are also great to react to. They are less "connected" but still tell one story....

@mollyesanborn yeah.. and I realize the extra tough thing about them is you kinda have to do their discography front to back, just by the nature of their output. That doesn't mean you have to do it one after another, though! You could do Second Stage Turbine Blade, then a couple of months later, move on to the next one with a bunch of different stuff in between. If you space it out right, you'll have content for years..and a fanbase pretty thirsty for your types of videos, might I add. It helps to know the theme (s) of the album when listening, and even better when you know the lyrics.
The album is about life..... your life, my life, the bands life and everyones life, as shaped and dictated by society .
Side 1 takes us ftom inside our mothers womb, hearing her heart beat and strange sounds ( voices and music) from outside.
Then a scream to signify childbirth.
Now you have to Breathe for yourself in this strange new existence.
Then On The Run. .. about society and work making demands on your life and time... ..as touring musicians this is set in airports and in flight, as that is where their job wasted a lot of their time, always flying here or there after many hours wasted in the airport.
Then Time itself......brilliant lyrics from adolescence to The Great Gig In The Sky, the 5 stages of Death from denial to final acceptance, and the end of your TIME.
Side 2 looks at life from a different perspective, ending with a suggestion of madness.

For me, the last true Pink Floyd album, "Division Bells" equaled the masterpiece quality of 'Dark Side of the Moon'. However, there is a track intentionally left off this album and saved as a final radio hit for "Endless River", which were outtakes from Division Bell and released many years later. This hit was called "Louder Than Words". Some Pink Floyd fans don't recognize this album because Roger Waters does not appear on it. To me, that was like saying, Pink Floyd's first album, "Piper at the Gates of Dawn' doesn't count because it featured Syd Barrett on guitar and vocals. Guitarist/singer/songwriter David Gilmour had not performed with Floyd, until their second album. You will also find several Pink Floyd early radio hits were left off their albums. Released only as 45 rpm singles, songs like "Julia Dream", "See Emily Play", "Paint Box" and "Arnold Layne". However, they can be found on a compilation album called 'Relics' or just check out these TH-cams videos.

Certainly, one of the greatest Rock band of all time, and this album is one of the greatest Rock album of all time, some say THE greatest. I would agree but I'm biased, I've been a huge Pink Floyd fan since 1973 when this album was released, I was 17 years old.
Formed in London in 1964 they are certainly in the top 5 GOAT Rock bands ever, and like virtually every other Rock band to come out of England in the 1960s, they were a Blues based band. Progressive Rock is their sub-category.
They even took their band name from two American Blues guitarists from the early to mid 1900s,... PINK Anderson, (1900-1974), and, FLOYD Council, (1911-1976).
I've seen them twice live, and tickets to see them were especially hard to get, as they practically sold out every show they performed in 70s, 80s and 90s.
"The Dark Side Of The Moon" album has sold over 55 million copies to date, one of the best-selling albums of all time. The album also holds the record for most weeks on Billboards Top 100 Albums of All Time list,... something like 962 weeks,... that's over 18 years on the list!
Looking forward to more PF reactions. If you wanted to do single song reactions, in their entirety, PF1994 Pulse Concert would be a great place to choose from their ginormous catalog of songs. The quality of the video is quite exceptional, it has been re-mastered and re-edited, for an incredible Floyd experience, sonically and visually.

If you’re going to do any more Pink Floyd, one thing you have to know is that the song meanings and concepts are the main focus above all else. I know in your videos you cover the musical aspects of songs more so than the lyrical aspects of them, but with Pink Floyd, the meaning of the music comes before everything else. The only standout and noteworthy feature on the musical side of things is David Gilmour’s guitar playing. And even that is pretty heavily tied to the song meanings and the emotions being put forth. And it’s not that the music isn’t to be appreciated either, it’s just that the lyrical themes are very much the star of the show when it comes to Pink Floyd.
Their classic string of albums-Darkside of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall, (and by extension; The Final Cut)-are all concept albums. Pink Floyd has mastered _the concept album_ and have set the bar high for what a good concept album is to be like. Darkside of the Moon is widely considered the best concept album of all time. There’s also many people (like myself) who would give that title to The Wall. If you weren’t able to catch what exactly the concept of this album was, I would highly suggest looking it up. It’s really easy to come by since Pink Floyd’s concept albums have been thoroughly broken down and analyzed by many people. So there’s plenty of readily available album breakdowns where the albums concept is explained and accompanied by song-by-song explanations. And for their albums (Darkside of the Moon especially), for as fantastic and magical it is sonically, it makes it that much more mind blowing when you understand the concept and the meaning of what it is you’re hearing.
In most cases I wouldn’t really sweat it, but in cases like The Nothing by Korn previously, and Pink Floyd in general currently, I think it’s necessary to stress that the meaning of the music is what’s most important here.

Totally agree with you about paying attention to the meaning of the songs. It's often overlooked by reactors because the music is so surprising and the lyrics often require multiple listens to reveal the layers of meaning.
However, I have to disagree that Gilmore is the only "standout and noteworthy" musical features of Floyd. I love Gilmores playing, but Floyd was always their best when everyone was contributing equally. People hyper-focusing on Gilmore often seem to overlook the subtle and beautiful work from Mason and Wright which is integral to the sound of Pink Floyd. And to ignore or dismiss Waters contributions of bass playing, vocals, the arrangements and songwriting would be a real shame as it is every bit as masterfull as the other members of the band. It's the thing I love the most about bands of this calibre is that you can focus on any part of the music and find something enthralling.

My favourite album, the record that change my life many years ago!. Nearly 20 years have passed and I still feel it is the best album ever made. I always had that feeling of perfection, that everything is in its place.
I hope you enjoy Pink Floyd much more, especially The Wall and Animals!

This is such a beautiful record, it's like all of the sounds are perfectly placed and seamlessly blend together in one tapestry of sound. I'll definitely have to do videos for The Wall and Animals as well :)

Check out the connection between this album and the film, "The Wizard of Oz", it has some eerie coincidences

Nice reaction. Cool to see you do Pink Floyd. I’d recommend doing either Wish You Were Here or The Wall or Obscured By Clouds next.

Actually you got many of the references, such as the On The Run was in fact a nightmare of a fear of flying ending with a crash, then the clocks wake you up from that nightmare. The album is pure genius, and there is a reason it is one of the highest selling of all time. This documentary is worth watching now that you have listened to the album, it is with commentary by the band members:
th-cam.com/video/jUBnS5G34IM/w-d-xo.html ( PINK FLOYD - The Dark Side Of The Moon 2003 Documentary HD )
Their live shows were incredible, not only with their soundscapes, but amazing light shows too. the Pulse concert did the entire DSOM album in order and here is Time:
th-cam.com/video/GG2tZNOQWAA/w-d-xo.html ( Pink Floyd - Time (PULSE Restored & Re-Edited) ) NOTE if you watch live Pink Floyd, always select the ones labeled "PULSE Restored & Re-Edited".
I saw them live in 1976.
