I was a vet tech (animal nurse) for 10+ years. Usually only the largest animal hospitals can keep a blood bank supply on hand. In "regular" vet offices, if blood is needed for an emergency, often a vet or tech brings in their own pet to be a donor. The blood is collected and then given almost immediately. Some places may have a list of clients who volunteer their pets for similar donations.
I work in a large office that has access to blood and we still sometimes need employee pets to come in to donate because there is a constant extreme shortage!! The blood shortages are just as bad for pets as for humans, if not worse!!
I'm curious do animals have blood types like humans? I never thought of blood banks for animals. I will remember to have a pet donate when I get my own animal.
@@nasiskahnyes they do they have two. My dog is a blood donor here in the UK don’t know if other countries have them but if you’re in UK, have a Labrador or larger youngish dog, please look at Pet Blood Bank to see if your dog can donate!
Dogs have more possible blood types than people. Generally, the first transfusion doesn't cause many problems because the immune system takes time to recognize and remember foreign blood. It is any additional transfusion that causes problems.
Your experience with Prim is so close to what I went through with my cat Hermione when she got IMHA. Just seeming a bit off her food, then rushed to the emergency hospital with a red blood cell count of 6 for an emergency transfusion and a multinight stay in the kitty ICU. Like Luna, the vets describe her as “feisty” and she got sent home after she ripped the IV out of her own leg in protest. 😂 Her type attacks the cells in her bone marrow and not her bloodstream, so the transfusion was successful for a couple of weeks, but treating it took months of ups and downs with medication. But now it’s more than three years later, and apart from one small relapse, she’s perfectly healthy! She’s not so happy about having to go to the vets every three months for blood tests, but otherwise it doesn’t affect her at all. Sending all my good wishes to Prim! ❤
Pearl's laugh at 1:29:05 was the most adorable and genuine thing I've heard in a very long time. I could listen to that every day and never get tired of it.
*sending all the positive energies to your pupper* Hoping that she keeps improving and becomes stable without you having to break the bank! *hugs to you and your family* you all must have been through such stress and worry. Please remember to take care of yourselves and take time to decompress if you need it!
Oh Impulse, I am so very sorry to hear about Prim's health struggle. I am happy she arrived in time to be saved and there is hope. As a dog "grandma" and a mother of a human, it breaks my heart for you, your family and for her. Having someone you love suffering is horrible. You are in my heart and I hope she makes a speedy and strong recovery. Love your face.
So happy to have Prim back! Fun to have puppy cam. The game is looking nice. I never really thought of healthy animals donating blood before. I can't donate blood but never thought of pets doing it. I'll keep that in mind if I ever get my own pet. It was nice to have you back on stream. My schedule as been so messed up without it. 😉😊 Welcome back.
1:40:59 fell asleep shortly after Pearl showed up, just remember hearing her voice while I dozed off. Glad to hear you were able to bring your doggie home tho ❤❤❤
Howdy Impulse!! First of all, I am so happy that Prim is getting better. Hoping for a speedy recovery. I've lost furbabies myself. Several of them were litters of kittens that just didn't make it & I held them as they crossed the rainbow bridge. I know how that loss feels. Anyway, I have a tip that may help with the fact that Hermits skip reading. You could put a visual of the short grass in an invisible item frame. Because, let's face it, some Hermits may not know what "short grass" even is. lol 😊😏😉 I love your videos!! Thank you & the hermits for your time to entertain us all!! 🤩😍
Yeah, this reminded me of my husky when i was like 4 and she walked past the bathroom limping, so i told my dad and they took her to the vet, turned out she had cancer and it was too late to save her, she was like 6 or 7, it wasn’t too sad for me because I was only 4 so hadn’t known her for long, but it was quite sad for my dad and our other dogs.
OMG I feel so bad for not knowing Prim and Impulse were going through that! I've been super busy this week so I missed the Monday stream and haven't checked Twitter in a while, so I was just like "Huh I wonder why Impulse isn't streaming." I had no idea that was happening! Best wishes to everybody involved! ❤❤
Im sending all the love and support to you and prim!! I work at a vets office and know about IMHA quite well. I know you've been hearing a lot of negative news lately so i thought you should know that we have a 14 year old dog that has been coming in for treatments for this condition for almost 6 years. The dog still looks healthy, and we dont expect to stop seeing her any time soon! Dont lose hope!!
Make sure you pregame with a big vitamin D booster, and vitamin C airborne when going to a big ole convention. That's advice for everyone for _any_ convention, btw. The little things you can do beforehand, and the things you can do during will be the difference between heavy, and light consequences for yourself, and those you'll be with: 1) Using hand sanitizers between social interactions. I know it's rough on the skin for some of you, so a good lotion would obviously be needed in your case, even if you hate the feeling. 2) It's something that seems silly at this point, but wearing a qualified k95 mask if you're going to be sitting in a crowd for a panel for longer than 3 mins--this is meant to protect you, and others. It goes a long way toward preventing the bacterial interactions that cause illnesses in the first place. 3) And this one is just a matter of courtesy, but it _does_ help because this goes back to the exposure vs masks reasoning--make sure any food court areas you use are cleaned up after, and not leaving things like food trash laying around for a table busser to deal with (unless a sit-down restaurant, but _even then_ try to keep your space neat, and easy to clean in food rush hours) these bits, and more are what will make you, and others have the best chance of coming away with either nothing, or only light consequences. Having some lysol wipes on hand for the public food courts before, and after you eat--tedious, I know--will also help the "leave it better than you arrived" method for protecting everyone. It may seem like you're doing someone else's job, but it can only help everyone who's showing up for a big event not be as likely to suffer the negative effects later on.
im so glad prim is doing okay now. what your family is going through is my worst nightmare. i just moved to college 3 weeks ago and now im a 17 hour drive from my dogs, who are honestly my best friends. I hope things continue to improve with her and that she does even better now that shes home with you guys.
1:12:00 - if they either don't put all the items in all at once, or even open the trapped chest after putting the stuff in and closing it, it will fail.. you need a clock for 20 seconds vs a line of repeaters
Hey Impulse, life sucks. We cant control what happens to us, good or bad, and we don't know what obstacles will come our way; but we can control how we react. We can take what life deals us and turn it into opportunities, whether that be a lesson we need to learn or we can turn it into a reason to help someone. Almost losing a pet is hard and I'm so sorry you and your family is going through this, but because of you guys Prim gets to live a longer life that's filled with love and joy. Because of your actions you are not only helping your family and friends but also thousands of complete strangers on the internet. Your doing an amazing job, this is a rough patch that your going through but you will pass this a better and stronger person. It will be ok and you have hundreds of people in your corner. Stay safe and take care of yourself, your important too. ♥️
Hey Impules I work as an LVT (licensed veterinary nurse) we have a blood bank at our hospital in Alabama. My personal dog is a blood donor as well as my cat. I’ve had a dog with IMHA before and I know it’s a long road but hang in there, we have several patients who are making it through treatment and are regulated now. Best wishes to you and prim
I'm so sorry to hear about Prim but so thankful she's in good hands and was caught in time, treatable etc. I know you must miss her terribly. Sending love to all.
i lost my cat this past january to sudden illness, he was only six. sorry for what you're going through, a pet's illness is extra hard because you're the one who has to make life-or-death decisions for them and you can't ask what they want or explain to them what's happening
Don't know if anyone's suggested this and I'm not sure if it will work, but would putting the used fishing rods in a crafter automatically repair them?
The last video was really, really good. Nice and relaxed. Fun! I am glad it was a source of comfort for you. By the way, humans in general no longer like to read.

A tiny patient came in and needed blood, and we used a coworker's standard poodle. We've been joking about the tiny dog being a doodle now.

Glad the pup is doing well. I recently lost mine to cancer out of nowhere. Lots of love Impy❤
Lots of love and healing for Prim ❤
Sounds like you care about your pet a lot. Wishing for her full recovery 🙏
So glad to hear that Prim is doing better and seems to be responding well to treatment.
All the best, Impulse! Blessings to you and your family.
Poor puppers. Praying for Prim and your family.
I hope your dog is feeling better
As for the loading sound - copy Mumbos Mission Possible, where you get the task. You’ll know what I mean :)

👋 glad to hear prims better
Yay Prim can come home!! 🎉❤
You probably don't want to put vines over the top of the tree, as they will eventually spread to cover the whole wall.
You take such good care of us, even when you are dealing with family/animal emergencies. GG
hold the phone... etho and I share a birthday?????!!
