      This was great, thanks, I've been looking for "are baritone ukulele chords different?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Fenaylern Nonpareil Formula - (should be on google have a look ) ? It is a good one of a kind product for discovering how to play the ukulele like a pro without the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my neighbour got great success with it.

    It's where objective meets subjective and you have flow.

    When I make a cover of a song, I usually go through the original and other covers to feel what the other artists play and put their feelings in those. Then I play in my way after being influenced by the other versions. I cannot just copy, because I will feel empty and I’m not good enough to sound the same as the original :3

    • @RockClass101
      @RockClass101  7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      That's an excellent approach. The big point they made at music college was that you pull from many artists to create your own style :)

      You won't always remain a copy The Uke Player. When the Beatles were learning, they copied Buddy Holly and others, note for note, inflection for inflection, every bit of phrasing, pronunciation, everything! But of course, they went on to be their own unique selves.

    I can read ukulele tabs easily now. But I struggle to “improve”. Like how do you make it better performance wise.

    I’m teaching myself and have barely memorized two chords. I’ll definitely keep these tips in mind throughout my experience though. I think this is most helpful now because I’ll let these ideas shape the way I learn how to play. Great vid bro!!

    Learn, but make the song "sing" for YOU. I am just learning and find more enjoyment on taking a few chords and just playing with diff. strum patterns, picking and just messing around. Thanks for the tutorial. 😎

    This is SO true & a excellent tip for everyone, not just beginners but It would've been a lot better had there been a before & after! We only see the after so there's no way to compare. Of course you probably didn't think to film the before since you likely weren't even thinking of making it a video! An most people, especially beginners(understandably), don't want to be recorded & put on TH-cam! A before & after just would've been great in your video so everyone could observe the difference. Anyway, Keep up the great videos!

    • @RockClass101
      @RockClass101  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct, she was the inspiration for the video. So unfortunately I don't have a before/after. But you can watch thousands of our members playing in our monthly challenges: rockclass101.com/forums/forum/monthly-member-challenges/. We offer feedback on everyone's performances to help them improve :)

      Srs put me off guitar and I didnt learn to play instead of work an instrument until I kept at ukulele and didnt always know why I was doing something or what chord it was, just added bass or melody etc to me but probs is chords or makes sense in musicsl theory cos if it sounds good its probably for a reason

    How many chords are there to learn on the ukulele?

    • @RockClass101

      Technically, an infinite possibility. But I'd suggest starting with the most common ones, many of which we cover in our beginner's course: rockclass101.com/definitive-beginners-guide-ukulele/

    • @RockClass101
      @RockClass101  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try practicing without looking. As in, non-reading playing/practicing. That should be easier than trying to read AND not look at the same time.
      When I was young, I used to practice in the dark. Sounds silly, but you can't cheat that way lol.
      And if you need help with learning to read music, check out reading course: rockclass101.com/an-introduction-to-reading-standard-notation/
