When I worked for the Navy at the Philly shipyard we couldn't wait till they drained the drydock. They would drain down to a foot of water and work would stop. We would line the top to watch guys in waders try and net all the fish that got trapped. We would applaud when someone got one. They would pull them up in buckets and release them back in to the Delaware river.

You crushed it guys, thank you for saving those chunk sallys. I really enjoyed this! Whoever created that "spillway" should put some type of fencing where water still flows through when heavy rain hits but stops large fish from escaping their homeland.

LOJO, one of the best ways I've ever found to catch carp when they're skimming the top. Tie a small treble hook, no weight, and ball a piece of bread on the treble. It will float and they'll suck up the bread, set the treble and get ready for a fight!

Those are grass carp, those were about average size, they can get fatter than that, slightly longer. The big monsto's that are fun to fish for are big common carp. i know they're seen as trash fish, but i'm up here in the Northwest where they aren't a problem. We have some lakes here where the commons get around 40-50 lbs. The grass carp here usually sit around 15-30 lbs and about 3-4.5 feet long.

Those are grass carp and can reach a max size of 45 pounds depending on there environment

You need to get a big net that spans across it and you and Cory just walk through it with the net netting everything to find and or save what's in there.
Good tip. Opening cans on cement. Just rub the top back and forth on cement the top will wear right off in seconds

I believe the two larger ones would be38-42" long and 34-45 lbs going by the ones we used to catch here at millerton lake
i would say about right I catch some biggens at Peck road water conservation park in Arcadia California all the time on hair rigs and pack baits my pb is 44 pounds

Most Amurs in this country are bread sterile and stocked to control vegetation. These are not the same as the Asian carp that is damaging the Mississippi river

Next time you go for crap, you should try the hair rig. It works wonders on them. Also, they don’t really have any spines, their pretty safe to hold how ever you want. They just stink really bad.

You need a treble hook to catch carp and as soon as they hit it you need to set the hook. They like to bite the hook to knock everything off and eat it.
