Match that up with Tom's phenomenal vocals and Mike's guitar jam, and WOW! No other rock band had the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers sound. This is what a super group truly sounds like. The world of rock music will never be the same without Mr Tom Petty in it. Every member of this band is exceptional. And together they were the sound that moved generations back then and will for eternity.

They were very close friends for a long time, and some people think they were even lovers, but no real evidence of that. Tom Petty & Mike Cambell wrote that song as a TP & HB tune, but their producer got Stevie to sing on it, and it ended up on her debut solo album with Tom & (most of) the Heartbreakers playing on the track, and of course Tom sang on it with her.

I'm a big fan of TP, and this was the song that turned me onto him. I said 'used to be' because his old stuff has a magical quality that has not been present since 'Full Moon Fever'. 'Wild Flowers' was very disappointing and he doesn't seem to cut it anymore. But he used to be really brilliant and this is more than most of us will ever do. I appreciate your question.

Don't believe I was the only one fooled after I heard this the first time. Every now and then I listen to this to remind me how it felt.
This was initial to me. I was 17 and watched it on german TV. Next day i went to the music shop and bought me guitar and amp. Never a regret!!
