I think people say they don't like this season because it feels a bit unfocused. It was the same for season 6, the huge apocalypse happened/was stopped, and the writers had to start the slow build to the next Big Bad. In 6 we had Sam's missing soul, Raphael wanting another go at the apocalypse,Crowley and grandpa hunting Alphas, the search for Purgatory, Mother Of All, and finally Cas turning on the boys. Last season we knew from the first episode what the season was about, stopping The Darkness, and now once again after a apocalyptic season the writers need to do the slow build again. This season we have Mary back, Rowena and Crowley searching for Lucifer, Lucifer on the loose, and the British Men Of Letters. Who's the threat this season, what's the main story? We just don't know yet what to focus on, and the longer that uncertainty goes on the less people like the season. Or at least that's my theory.
I like this episode, because it adds so much of background lore and Life to the spn universe. We met canadian hunters and a side of hunting and a community Sam and Dean were not really a part of before. Also, Jody was awesome and Kim acted great in this episode. I enjoy this season too, I love the more character-focused approach. I feel like her prediction about her reaction to the rest of season might be accurate O.o
3 more season's to go Dakara crazy how far you have come lol Cool episode love the Lucifer-Sam callback "You know they write story's about us!?" Great reaction as always stay awesome👍...Ps Dean killed Hitler😂
great week starter treat for us, and like you said a great one as it not only had the always badass Jodi onscreen, but gave us some great plot/character movement with the conversations between: Jodi/Dean and Jodi/Mary and like you mentioned enlightened for Mary and Asa's mother at even how hard the hunter life is, that by saving Asa's young life, it brought so much good into the world by all the people who were saved as well as Asa's children (that he didn't know about).... great stuff as always, D! keep em coming
1:09 unloading on Mary the fact that ever since that day she's had to worry day and night like crazy if he, an obsessed hunter, would end up torn to bits some creature, versus losing him as a kid, mourning him, instead of fearing for decades and then mourning among these hunter people - God knows what she's had to see since Mary brought back her kid.
I was so scared for Jody cuz every time she's on here, her safety is at risk and it hurts me when she's hurt (maybe cuz it's partly cuz i have a big crush on her) but I'm glad she wasn't for once cuz that is an issue But i can tell Kim was having a blast this episode lol
if any show doesn't mess with your emotions, it not a good show. this ep was a very sweet ep

This episode is one of my favs of this season. Jodie - to me - feels like a second mom to the boys.
Jodie's more of a mum than Mary will ever be
