For any who need help following all the conversations, especially those that are soft spoken or fade away, I found the movie clarified for me and truly became a stunning revelation when I turned the captions option on. The whole story is in all the separate conversations. Truly remarkable.
Charlie Rose loves hearing himself talk.
That’s his job.
Julian Fellowes on the difference between Altman and (most) other directors in what they want from actors - it's near the end - is absolutely on the mark. Altman's "like" for actors is one of the things that shines through even his weaker films, and in one of the quality of Gosford Park gives the entire movie a wonderful "company" feeling. One of the great American film directors of all time.
"If you don't pay attention, go home." Great advice for anyone who sees any Robert Altman film!
"if you don't pay attention, go home, because you're not gonna get it .... "
Awesome.
Upstairs Downstairs pioneered this in the 70s, which was a masterpiece; and Julian Fellowes appeared on the Duchess of Duke Street, which also had the up-down mixture, where we care about both the downstairs and the upstairs families. It would have been nice to hear these folks give some credit to John Hawkesworth et al.
Great movie Maggie was great Hellen was amazing so was Mr Northam . Ryan was magnificent
Thank you Dick Cavett and Richard Burton
