it's really great Carl what they have done. years ago, no one seemed to care less about making anything or anywhere 'nicer '. And it is not just about money; pride and community spirit can transform the conditions, as they have done here. good example for the locals in many other areas to follow. thanks for sharing and showing us their great work !
Yeah it don't take much John to show a bit of pride in where you live, but there are still many places around here where one would not really want to be walking around, but the folks that live around this drain, and that is what it is, have completely transformed the look and feel of this area, and they have had a bit of media attention too, and it's well deserved i would say.. cheers mate, hope your weekend is going well there, Yvonne is in the middle of cooking dinner here so i thought i would have another quick session on YT (smile) ...
Amazing what they can do with a old creek, I bet they guard them fish well Hats 🎩 of to them for making their place a better place to live, Thanks for sharing .
Hello Derek, they have very much improved the area where they live, and the people who do this work live alongside here, mostly in them makeshift huts you can see at the beginning as we walk along the alley.. Yeah i would imagine they keep a constant eye out for anyone stealing the fish as they must be worth quite a bit of money, but it would be hard for anyone to ever steal them as the people who built this live onsite.. Many thanks for watching mate, have a great day there with your family...

This gives a whole new meaning to riverside apartments and I cannot believe how clear that water is. What great little spot and although need now is a bit of outdoor dining. Such ingenuity needs to be praised and enhanced, such a great job by the locals. Looking at the size of those koi, that patch of water is probably worth a fortune and they don't know it. Great share Carl and have a wonderful week. Take care.
Ha ha, yeah i think when people think of riverside apartments Andre this is not quite what they have in mind (Grin).. Oh the water is very clear, and one must remember this is a drain, where a lot of peoples waste water goes, and how the fish thrive so well here is just amazing.. There must be all sorts of pollutants in there, i have even seen kids doing their number twos in there where this video starts, yet the fish are even breeding in here as there are baby fish literately everywhere.. As you know i keep Koi carp myself back in England, and believe me they can be very sensitive to anything in the water, so what is going on here is just astonishing, as these fish are in very good condition.. Am not sure if they sell these fish, but yeah at UK prices for Koi they would be worth thousands of pounds.. Many thanks my friend, enjoy the evening there with your family...
Hi Jeff, yeah it sure was worth making another video showing the changes that have taken place here, i pass this way on a daily basis so just had to film some more.. Many thanks Jeff, will stop by later and see what you been up to...
Hello Carl You take great footage, this pond is very beautiful with all the lovely fish, I can see why you went back to film, it again.. Even...tho.. the Philippines may be very warm for you, it sees very calm, and peaceful to be there... the land and, scenery is so different and tropical, that it makes.. it worth.. it.. I always wish you the best, my friend..
I got a better camera now Nancy, and the footage is so much clearer than it used to be.. Ever since i got back in the Philippines all new videos have been made with my new camera.. Yeah the heat is the only downside to being in the Philippines for me, otherwise it would be perfect here.. Many thanks for you lovely comment Nancy and for the support, enjoy the new week there...
Hello my dear friend Carl, Thank you so much for sharing with us this wonderful new video. Such a lovely place. Thanks to you, we all your friends and subscribers are discovering the country where you are living : The Philippines. I wish you great moments on this weekend. See you next time
Hello Lizzie, pleased you liked the video, and Yvonne is sitting here with me now and says Hello back.. Yeah Tilly is growing up so fast, i was looking back of some of the first videos of her i uploaded on this channel, it quite chocked me up (smile) hope you and family are having a nice weekend there, we have had no electric and it's not long come back, Hmm "Happy days" lol, many thanks...
Hello Carol, am here and ready for me two session on YT (smile) Hey i liked the black fish too, but all the fish here were very nice, and there was also many thousands of baby fish/fry swimming around, so whoever is taking care of these fish knows what they are doing.. Many thanks Carol, will stop by your channel later and see what you been up to...
Thanks my friends, yeah this makes a nice change to have something tranquil like this stuck right in the middle of the city, and right beside the main road too, it's a bit of an oasis really lol, have a good day there...
Oh thanks Eden that's real nice of ya, yeah been making quite a few music videos recently for my music channels, i do love my music, and i love making all sorts of videos.. Appreciate the support my friend, have a fun new week there...
They are really big fish Christine, and i would imagine are worth lots of money, and the fish are actually breeding in the pond as it's filled with baby fish, so they are obviously liking where they live.. Many thanks my friend, have a good day there...
Hi Carl, thanks for the interesting video. I think the 2 black fish were really unusual. They stand out more than the others. They almost look like sharks. But I suppose they must all be Koi or Carp. I also noticed several much smaller fish. They were all beautiful and colorful. Have a great new day!
Yeah i thought the black fish stood out more than the others, i have no idea what they are, but don't think they are any type of Carp, i am quite sure on that, but you are right about the shape of them, they have a similar shape to baby sharks, and they also swim like them too.. I would love to know what type of fish they really are.. Many thanks for watching my friend, i will stop by later and see if you have any new vids up...
Well...the black ones might be some type of catfish....that's what I thought at first. Because they move like catfish. But catfish usually stay near the bottom. (Unless, they're being fed, I suppose.) At any rate, Have a nice weekend!
I actually thought they might be catfish, but you are right they normally stay on the bottom of a pond, and mainly come out at night.. i will ask next time i visit this area, my brain cells are doing overtime now lol, thanks for coming back...
Carl, They have really made that a nice area. I just saw a report on this same area this week. It is nice to see people who take pride in their area and try to make improvements. This has really become an area of interest from what I read.
Hello Steve, i guess that was a TV report you are talking about? yeah the people who live along here have put so much work into this place, and i have spoken to quite a few of the people who live here, and have worked on this project, and they are quite proud of what they have done, and so they should be, as it's much better than it looks in this video.. Am off to the dreaded mall in a while, will stop by your channel later and see if you got any new vids up, cheers mate...
Carl, It may have been a TV report. I think it popped up in a Facebook message. I just remember seeing it and thinking to myself how I had seen you do a video on it already! It was pretty cool knowing about it before watching the video there. Hope you had a great day at the mall! I guess I have a different perspective than some. Not having a mall to go to for several months, I enjoy the times we do go!
Hi Carl, remember this from earlier. Looks like a nice place to visit. Sure is a lot of fish. Must be well feed. Thanks for sharing again. Much enjoyed. Liked...Lloyd :)
Hello Lloyd, yeah i thought i would make another video from this area as there have been so many improvements and changes here, the local people have worked so hard, and the upkeep of this area is almost constant, thanks for watching my friend...
I like to watch videos Steve of areas i have not been before, and YT is a great way to do that, i so love YT, and i refer to it for so many things, like i did the other night, on how to open an external hard drive and retrieve lost data, which i need to do as one of my hard drives is not being read by the computer.. Cheers mate, pleased you enjoyed the video, have a great Sunday there...
Yeah lots of improvement here, it's fast becoming a hangout area, i have seen people getting off the jeepney with their kids just to stand by and watch the fish, and there are a few places along here that sell food, and i have seen many soldiers here taking their meals.. Thanks for watching Gloria, it's much appreciated...
Hello Malou, fish are so relaxing, i quite often pass this way when i take Tilly to school, and i always take time to watch the fish, one would never believe this was right on the main road opposite the Gaisano shopping mall.. Am looking forward to you moving back here, hope you upload a few videos then, thanks for watching...
It is a very run down area, and there are many areas like this in Iligan City, but these people who live here have tried to improve the area they find themselves living in, and one really should give them much praise for what they have done and are still doing.. I remember this area before any of this work was done, and believe me it was a place most avoided going, but not now, thanks my friend, have a great day there...
That's a very good question, and one i don't know the answer to, but next time i am around here i just might ask someone where all the fish came from.. These are not just regular goldfish or mirror carp, these are very expensive Koi carp, and some are of quite a high grade, but i was wondering if the fish were actually owned by a fish farm, and that these fish were put in here simply to grow them on before being taken back and sold, but that's just a thought that went through my head.. Thanks for your comment, it was a good one...
Awesome thoughts too my friend, whoever own the pond they can really grow the business. Very nice upload, it also reminds me of my childhood. My family owns a pond except it is much bigger, you can grow any kind of fish, crabs etc. But we don't have those kind of fish haha we only grow tilapia or milk fish.
This is actually just a storm drain, but the local people who live around this area decided to smarten up the place a bit, and they certainly have done a good job here.. Thanks for watching and commenting...
Cheers mate, i was actually going past this pond this morning, and there was a dead fish floating on the top, first one i've seen here, but the rest of the fish looked OK.. Thanks for watching...
I remember passing this place long long time ago it smell bad with garbage but there were a lot of guppies as common in any sewage of this city That passage is dangerous to walk for people who don't live there Happy to see it is improving
Well i have been walking along this passage for 6 years now, everyone always says hello to me, i have never felt it to be a dangerous place to go, i used to walk my daughter along here to her school every day.. Yeah even now it does smell here at times, and am surprised how well the fish do in this water, as fish are very sensitive to polluted water, so someone is doing something right here as all the fish look so healthy.. Many thanks for watching and commenting...
That's good to know that it's not anymore dangerous yeah it keeps my head scratching to how the koi are thriving and the other fish in the video can withstand harsh conditions Generally I think sewers in that city are clean because I mostly see guppies everywhere Some part near the spring pool area I saw some flat fish as seen on your video You are most welcome
Well then you would know just how good the work they have done here is from first hand experience, but i actually filmed this about three weeks ago, maybe we were there on the same day lol, during the festival i filmed this.. Thanks for watching...
It is a little wonder. Because of your video, my fiancee and future step son visited it on my last trip to see her. She was surprised that I even knew about it LOL You are my secret weapon Carl. Saw the horse drawn carts too, but missed a rind in one :(
Haha, your secret weapon, i like it.. Shame about the horse and cart my friend, but you can do that on your next visit, they will still be there.. Hope it all went well with the Fiancee and her son, i know these meetings can sometimes be a bit awkward.. Thanks for stopping by, it's good to hear from you...
I have been there a few times now, spent time in CDO and her home town, Iligan and Camiguin Island (that is beautiful) and the second we spent mostly in her home town and CDO and the last in her town and in Iligan. I actually like Iligan better than CDO. For one thing the traffic is not so Homicidal LOL. Cheers
Hey i also prefer Iligan City to Cagayan, i have been to CDO many times over the years and even considered moving there once, but am so pleased i didn't.. Iligan is a great city and it's getting better by the day i would say.. We went to the new cinema yesterday in Robinson Mall as it was my daughters 5th birthday, and we had such a nice time, we had the whole cinema to ourselves, just two other people in there, we couldn't believe it, the cinema is awesome, and the aircon is first class, we actually felt a bit cold lol, and that's a first here (Grin).. Oh i think the traffic and roads everywhere in the Philippines i have been too is bad, i might do a video about it one day, thanks for coming back...
We went there and saw Jumangi with the ROCK. I was a little sad to see so many of the shops unoccupied on my last visit. But the Food court was awesome and the Pizza shop near the ground floor entrance served "wagon wheels" instead of pizza HAHAHA, 1 pizza served 4 of us!!!!!
When this mall opened many of the people here thought the old Gaisano Mall would lose so many of its customers, but that's not the case, if anything it's got busier.. I don't think it will take that long though to fill these shops, as the rent in Robinson mall is much cheaper than the Gaisano, and the mall is ten times better, the problem is, is that it takes two jeepney rides from my home to get there, so many people from this side of the city just go to the gaisano.. Yeah the food court is a great part of the Robinson mall, and out of all the malls in Iligan i prefer Robinson...
Its competely gone now. My 3 year old daughter loved to go there and feed the fish and to have the pegions eat from her hand, its a shame this place no longer exists. Paul from Arkansas living in iligan city.
Yeah i saw it at the weekend, there are still fish there, but the bridge and all the other nice things they put around the area are now gone, such a shame really as this area was a welcomed attraction to an area which was very run down, and dirty too before they done all the wonderful work here.. Thanks for watching and commenting, I'm just glad i captured this place on video before it was demolished...
Very sorry but i could not translate properly what you were saying, but my partner will be home in a short while and she will translate for me.. Thanks for watching...
My partner is back now and explained what you were saying.. No i don't think it overflows that often, but they have high nets at both ends that stops most of the fish from going further down this storm drain, but i have seen baby fish that have got through and are further down this storm drain.. Thanks for your comment...
Yeah of course it's not all clean, it's a very large area, but the part where they keep the fish is really nice.. Am surprised the fish can live in this water, but they look so healthy, and are thriving in this stretch of water.. It's certainly not a waste of time what they are doing, they are making a very scruffy area of Iligan City look nice, and it's a shame more people did not show a bit more pride in where they lived.. Thanks for watching and commenting...
I heard that news only the other day, i think it's just crazy, the local people here have turned this area which was filthy, and known as not being a safe area to walk around, into something really nice.. This is an attraction in Iligan City now that many people enjoy visiting, including myself and my family, it's become a bit of a landmark too.. Let's hope they change their mind on tearing it down.. Thanks for your comment...
it's really great Carl what they have done. years ago, no one seemed to care less about making anything or anywhere 'nicer '. What a nice pond with good looking fish.
I am wondering where did the owner purchase all that beautiful fishes?
They are so big too! tfs friend.
Taga iligan pud ko sir. Hehe Asa nah cya dapit?
bisaya ra pud ko sir hehe, ask lng unta ko dili sad mudako ang tubig diha sir basta mag ulan?
Very sorry but i could not translate properly what you were saying, but my partner will be home in a short while and she will translate for me.. Thanks for watching...
My partner is back now and explained what you were saying.. No i don't think it overflows that often, but they have high nets at both ends that stops most of the fish from going further down this storm drain, but i have seen baby fish that have got through and are further down this storm drain.. Thanks for your comment...

yun lng na portion na yan ang malinis...pero pansin nyo tung sa bandang dulo..ang dami parin basura naglulutangan ah...
Thanks for watching and commenting...
i love it

The bgry is tearing it down, i am very disappointed in our government
I heard that news only the other day, i think it's just crazy, the local people here have turned this area which was filthy, and known as not being a safe area to walk around, into something really nice.. This is an attraction in Iligan City now that many people enjoy visiting, including myself and my family, it's become a bit of a landmark too.. Let's hope they change their mind on tearing it down.. Thanks for your comment...
