Io sono stata lì quel giorno per fare la critica per la rivista Ópera Actual. È stata una serata indimenticabile, magnifica interpretazione e scenografia meravigliosa!. Dovrebbero programmare più opere liriche nel Malibran. È uno dei teatri più importanti della storia dell'opera, l'antico San Giovanni Grisostomo. Farinelli, Caffarelli, Senesino, Pollarolo, Lotti, Caldara, Haendel, Porpora, Cimarosa, Paisiello, Rossini, Bellini....tanti personaggi importantissimi della storia musicale hanno sviluppato la sua carriera nel famoso e bellissimo teatro. Non si capisce come mai non si rappresentano più opere liriche lì. Non si può nemmeno visitare il teatro fuori dei giorni che si fa una rappresentazione, che sono pocchissime volte all'anno. Povera Venezia, è un peccato che non si possa (o voglia) fare molto di più per conservare e mostrare la sua magnifica bellezza. Venezia non è solo il ponte di Rialto, le gondole e Piazza San Marco. Il comune si lamenta, ma perché non mostrano tanti posti meravigliosi?

Ma in realtà viene usato per opere del repertorio barocco o per gli spettacoli rivolti ai giovani delle scuole. È sempre stato così sin dalla riapertura vent'anni fa, anzi venne concesso già nel 2008 al conservatorio per la rappresentazione dell'opera annuale in collaborazione con la Fenice.
A memoria quando ancora c'era il PalaFenice si tenevano al Malibran gli spettacoli con scenografia 'leggera' e sotto il tendone al Tronchetto quelli che richiedevano scene più articolate: e.g. nella stagione 2001/2002 Rigoletto andò al Malibran e Le nozze di Figaro al PalaFenice.
Poi siamo onesti la Fenice è una macchina da musica imponente, dalla sala grande alle Apollinee; il Malibran possiede solo la sala (meno magnificente del teatro maggiore, palchi funzionali e due balconate sovrapposte) con una sorta di anticamera-corridoio davanti. A meno di scardinare le assi di palcoscenico e buca per ammirare le fondamenta della casa di Marco Polo davvero non c'è confronto.
Come ogni teatro Fenice e Goldoni-San Luca inclusi sarebbe buona cosa vederlo se si riesce in occasione degli spettacoli. 🙄

Wonderfully Baroque. I didn't know this opera but this production is amazing and stopped me working for 2.5hours. Great staging and terrific performances from the whole cast (I especially liked Lucia Cirillo) and the costume department obviously had a great time. Freeze frame this anywhere and it's a work of art. This is sure to be the benchmark production for years to come

Wow. Simply wow. What an astonishing discovery. Having been drowning myself, for weeks, in Semiramide, just after discovering it, this opera just awakes a completely different feeling. My body feels happy and light as a feather - no other words. I will be back, for sure, dozens of times.

Vuvaldi, grandissimo genio musicale, al pari di Mozart, Rossini, Beethoven, Wagner, i più grandi compositori della storia della musica. Era moderno e stupefacente, sommamente versatile, come Mozart. Tutta la sua musica è godibilissima e meravigliosa. L' intero e sconfinato catalogo musicale non mostra debolezze o cadute di ispirazione. Peccato che sia stato riscoperto così tardi, dopo quasi 200 anni di oblio.
Non scherziamo. La musica di Bach era molto più complessa, basta vedere i lavori per organo e quelli per coro che all'epoca solo i più dotati tecnicamente potevano eseguire.
@@lucaogliari2912 Bach e Vivaldi sono vissuti in un epoca antecedente, non so di quali lavori stai parlando ma certamente il Bach alle tastiere è molto più semplice dal punto di vista tecnico della maggior parte dei compositori principali venuti successivamente.
Un qualunque pezzo di Liszt non è nemmeno paragonabile a livello di pura difficoltà tecnica. Del tutto analogo il paragone tra Vivaldi e il più recente Paganini per il violino.
Il punto è che dal '600 in poi si è certamente vista una inflazione generale dell'abilità tecnica dei musicisti che direi è culminata nella seconda metà del 1800.
Detto questo, difficoltà tecnica e bellezza della musica sono solo lontanamente correlate e infatti nonostante tutto è proprio Bach il mio compositore preferito in assoluto con capolavori come il concerto per clavicembalo No.1 in re minore BWV 1052, se la batte con Mozart ed entrambi stanno relativamente poco al di sopra di Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt e Alkan.

Great music, great singing. Brilliant production. Great staging. Staged as they should be instead of those horrible modern productions we see in so many theaters now. Beautiful costumes, gorgeous sets. Performed in all its splendor. This stage look too small to be La Fenice.👏👏👏🎶🎶

I saw a production of Handel’s Radamisto at The Lowry in Salford many years ago. All in black and white with distorted perspectives: un-watcheable. I also rented a DVD of Handel’s Rainaldo from the then Lovefilm: all in Mary Whitehouse type 1950’s costumes: again un-watchable, so ugly ! I like opera, but I’m not an opera buff. The sets and costumes are so important. I’ve just seen a performance of Handel’s Alcina at The Lowry. The performance and singing were excellent, the set and costumes just about OK, but the stage props were John Lewis peacock green (lovely) with cheap modern ferrule legs. It woz the legs wot dun it !
These modernist set designers make you sick: they ruin everything. Wait till they do Rigoletto in Nazi uniforms ! It will get rave reviews from the luvvies.

I just saw a production of Rigoletto at the Teatro Liceo in Barcelona that was horrible. Nothing on stage but a large square on stage and steps going up to nowhere. The costumes weren’t the best. And there you go again,designers that don’t have a idea of good stage design.

Act 1
In a delightful garden in which two springs are seen, Medoro escapes from a shipwreck into the arms of his beloved Angelica. Alcina magically helps Medoro and he recounts how he was first captured, then shipwrecked. Orlando is jealous of Medoro, but Angelica lies and says Medoro is her brother. Alcina is attracted to the knight Ruggiero. She uses her magic to make him forget Bradamante and love her instead. Bradamante discovers Ruggiero's "betrayal." She shows him the ring he gave her therefore breaking Alcina's spell. Ruggiero feels guilty for his actions.
Act 2
In a grove with green secluded spots, Astolfo reflects how he loves Alcina, but is tormented by her unfaithfulness. Meanwhile, in a mountainous alpine region with a high, precipitous cliff, Angelica and Medoro swear their love and part ways. To rid herself of Orlando, Angelica sends him to fight a monster who guards -she claims- a vase containing an elixir of youth: the potion by which Medea revived the dying Aeson. In fact, she is just trying to lure him into an enchanted cavern from which Alcina's spell makes escape impossible. Orlando enters defying the monster and is trapped. Realizing Angelica's faithlessness, however, he digs his way out despite the spell. Angelica and Medoro marry in a countryside at the foot of a hill. They carve their vows on a nearby tree. Orlando finds the tree, and on reading the inscription, becomes so furious that he starts destroying the trees.
Act 3
The place is at the entrance hall before the temple of Hecate. Astolfo believes Orlando dead. With Ruggiero and Bradamante, he plots revenge against Alcina. The secret of Alcina's power lies in an urn with Merlin's ashes, which is locked in the temple of Hecate. They await Alcina's return. Inside the temple of Hecate, Bradamante disguises herself as a man. Alcina falls in love with her. Orlando, still raving mad about the marriage of Angelica and Medoro, fights with the temple statues, inadvertently destroying Alcina's power. In a deserted island.
