The best thing to do at the moment is to wait for the Surface Go 4, hopefully it will have a fall release and not 2024. If you can't wait, I'd go with the Surface Pro 8 as well.
I have the I3 version of the Surface Go 3. The performance for day to day apps/web/office is perfect. I'd have liked an extra couple of hours on the battery, and I wouldn't game on it. Thats my review in two short sentences.
Work rolled this out and I had one for 8 months but the battery 🔋 was terrible if you had it dialled in for performance. It was good for basic things but as soon as you got down to hard work it just slowed down. I got a Mac laptop 💻 13 inch Air with the M1 chip and 32 fb ram and it’s just very good. 15 hours of battery life and it’s still going strong after 2 years
I have had a Go3 for over 12 months. It is a basic computer and IT IS slow. BUT it is useful for basic things as you are moving around every day. So I guess that is the compromise.
I think there is a big difference between the entry Surface Go and Upgraded Surface Go. My Surface Go 2 with 8GB ram (huge upgrade), SSD and Core m3 Processor is very usable. The Core m3-7Y30 is as fast as my old Surface Pro 5 with i5-7300U. Perfectly fine for business and viewing the web.
Right, this m3 (or the i3) with 8 GB RAM is the correct configuration to buy. The Pentium Gold with 4GB RAM is the base configuration and the wrong configuration to buy. If you spend just a little more and often use it docked, the Surface Go is a great small Windows tablet.
Exactly. I need a Windows based tablet for field use (ham radio). There are only a few applications for Android and for Apple, close to none. So Windows is the only solution. Of course I have normal gaming laptop, but it is heavy, battery life is of course worse and in the field, it is much more vulnerable. At the end, there's no real alternative.
The next generation is coming in fall 2023. What do you know about the Surface Go 4? It is expected to have a better battery life. What else? Will the upcoming Surface Pro with 11 inch be better than the Surface Go 4?
Just a warning I’ve had mine for under a year and the cpu usage take 100% to open edge and I can’t figure out any reason why that is it’s not the drivers or anything 😢. It becomes a slow potato that can’t even use word
I have the surface go three. I design kitchens with it run about 30 tabs a day. It's light weight and I take it to job sites So it's been great.
If you actually believe the battery life specs listed on ANYTHING, then you are WAY too trusting. Those are always measured with optimized settings.
Nothing about using these in our IT dept has caused me to believe I should stay away from them.
You convinced me not go buy the surface GO 3. I hadn't realized it came out in 2021.
I will most likely go for the surface pro 8

I have an surface go 1 and it works pretty well with linux
@@ironfist7789 lmao. I upgraded to the Surface Pro 9
@@SlyFox247go 4 isn’t available for consumers - only for business 😢

You're seriously comparing a $500-ish entry-level 2-in-1 to a $1500 laptop?
Yeah i was driving a 30K$ Toyota and switched to 100K$ porsche.. sooo much better.

A stupid take . There is nothing like go 3 and it's great .
Soooo if that is bad what is the alternative?
exactly, what do you recommend?

A robot is doing the review after being sacked by the Surface team.
Do you know when the new surface go 4 will be released?
According to Windows Central: Likely in the fall of this year.
