I only recently learned how to crochet, and this was a really easy tutorial for me to follow! I did end up accidentally making a large, but definitely my fault lol going to try again for a medium!! Turned out so cute, just too big
Hi Hailey and so glad you're learning how to crochet! Sometimes sizing is a bit tricky, especially when learning but well done and thanks so much for watching. 😽
I followed instructions perfectly and still end up with 10 dc chains in the front and like twice the size of stitches on the back! Why? How? What am I doing wrong!? 😢
Hi and thanks so much! I think the large size might still be a bit small for a pug but you could try a larger hook size and bulkier yarn and experiment a little to suit your dog's head circumference. Let me know how you go! 🤗🥰
Does 1 double crochet means the same technique as half double crochet? I did not quite understand the 2 1 thing on row three… BTW I just saw your channel and I love it already! I am just starting to learn to crochet and your channel is a great help. Thank you!
Hi Nina! Thanks so much for being here. 1 double crochet means make one double crochet. Half double crochet is a different stitch and isn't used in this tutorial. I refer to crochet stitches using US terminology. I hope that helps and happy crocheting! 😻
I'm a beginner and I loved following along! I'm having trouble finding the first stitch and pretty sure I was always on the previous or second and third one. Do you have tips on finding the first stitch?
Hi! It can definitely take practice recognising the first stitch but you'll eventually get the hang of it, I'm sure! Perhaps you could try looking up a tutorial on TH-cam on the basics of working and increasing in the round and see if that helps? Good luck and let me know how you go! 🥰
Hi Vicky! I would love to see your pictures You can send them to catventurous.community@gmail.com or you can tag us on Facebook and Instagram @catventurous.crochet Thanks so much! 🥰🤗
I am making the small version and after I did the 10 Dc on Row 5 it was not working because there was no room left to put the 16 chains so I don’t know what I did wrong, so can you make a video of you doing it
@@CatventurousCrocheteach size I’ve made makes the front and back two different sizes. Yours don’t look that way. Is the 10dc side the front or back. It is much smaller than the other side.
Hi Anis! So glad you're here! I'm sorry that it's not easy to see. Perhaps it's the darker yarn? I may film a different hat with a similar basic style in a lighter colour at another time but for now I'm sorry I don't have plans to refilm it. I hope it works out! 🥰
Hi Abigail! Sometimes you have to pull quite firmly on the tail end to close it. And perhaps just double check you've made the ring correctly. If you have, it should close up. Good luck! 😊
I'm doing size small and medium as a gift so no cat I can measure. I'm a bit unsure on round 5, at the end it says double crochet until the end of the round...am I supposed to have 10 stitches left after the second part of the ear?
Hi! You should have 9 stitches left but don't worry about counting at that point. After the 2nd ear hole just place DC x 1 in each stitch to the end. I hope that helps! 🥰
hey i'm so sorry, i want to ask about total dc and sc in every row please? like mine in the first row 12 dc, 2nd row 28 dc, third row 42 dc, fourth row is 56. am i right? but why when i want to make the part of 2nd ear hat cat i have to make more 10 dc. and is not not the same as the first ear. please answer my comment, thankyou dear
Hi! Thanks so much for your question. It depends on the size you're making but if you start with 12 x DC in your magic ring, your second round will have 24 stitches, the third round 36 stitches and the fourth 48 stitches. I hope that helps! 🤗
Hi Melanie! You're right, it's not an easy task. 😅 If you can get an estimate (maybe while your lovely is asleep) that's probably fine. Then, I would recommend making the hat on the larger side just to be sure. Good luck and thanks for watching! 🥰

Hi! I've a very genuine questions. What is the difference between the regular increase with the alternate, the one that you use starting from row 3. Thank you in advance
Hi! Thanks so much for your question. I would love to help but I'm sorry because I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. Could you please expand a bit? ☺️
@@CatventurousCrochet oh, I'm sorry. on row 3, you mentioned about alternate pattern? (I don't know if i hear it correctly as English is not my tongue language). The one that use inc, 1sc, 1sc for row 3. The usual increase that i usually found is 1sc,1sc, inc. so what's the difference between these two method?
Oh, sure! It just means to alternate 2:1:2:1... pattern, so alternating 2 x DC then 1 x DC then 2 x DC etc... for round 3. I'm sorry it wasn't clearer! Happy crocheting! 🤗
@@CatventurousCrochet i see. But is there any particular reason why u use alternate pattern instead of the usual increase? I mean what does it effects? The shape? Does it make it look rounder? Because i think if the usual increase that people use may look like hexagon or something.
@@ameeratulaniqah4267 Perhaps it's just the way I describe it or perhaps you have a different way of increasing but this is how I usually increase in the round. You could try both ways and see how it turns out. Let me know how it goes!
Hi! I know that you have already made a cat sweater but would you maybe in the future consider making a sweater vest for a cat? This one brand sells them for 100 dollars or something but I can’t find a tutorial anywhere :(
hi im sorry to bother you, i know this is not a tutorial for beginners, but i can’t understand with row 3, 2dc and then 1dc, ive been trying looking that up on internet but i couldn’t find the difference, whats the difference between 2 x dc and 1 x dc? doesn’t it mean just a dc repeatedly?
Hi and I welcome your question! No bother at all! This is referring to increasing in the round. There are a couple of different ways to do it but in this example, place 2 x DC under ch. 2 (in the same st. you sl. st. into) then in the next st. place 1 x DC. Then, continue repeat 2 x DC then 1 x DC to the end of the round. Hope that helps! 🤗
oh okay thats make sense, i wasn’t find the difference, but when i tried it, it is really look different (the v shape on the hole and if its 1xdc its a line shape) , thank you so much!! this is really helpful, thankyouu!! wish me luck! 🥰🥰🥰
I'm sorry to hear that and I'm sure it's frustrating! Perhaps try working with a lesser tension or even try a different yarn? Let me know how you go. Good luck! 😊
for some reason whenever i make anything magic circle wise it doesn’t make a perfect circle. the edges are always going in some kind of wave. do you know why that is?

This one brand sells them for 100 dollars or something but I can’t find a tutorial anywhere :(
I can try! Might you have a photo of what you're thinking of to send me? You can email me catventurous.community@gmail.com. ☺️
hi im sorry to bother you, i know this is not a tutorial for beginners, but i can’t understand with row 3, 2dc and then 1dc, ive been trying looking that up on internet but i couldn’t find the difference, whats the difference between 2 x dc and 1 x dc? doesn’t it mean just a dc repeatedly?
Ппикольно, интерестно моя кошка оденет такую шапку
Can you make a hat to cover your ears because it's cold outside?
Hi! Actually, I'm thinking of a way to do that so the ears are not touched by the hat. Stay tuned! 🥰
@@CatventurousCrochet cool!
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, my crochet keeps rippling and it won't lay flat
I'm sorry to hear that and I'm sure it's frustrating! Perhaps try working with a lesser tension or even try a different yarn? Let me know how you go. Good luck! 😊
@@CatventurousCrochet I figured it out! I was using the wrong stitch lol. Thank you for the video, It's super easy and informative!
@@kibby7870 Glad to hear it worked itself out! Please send photos if you have time. 😙
I love vats
for some reason whenever i make anything magic circle wise it doesn’t make a perfect circle. the edges are always going in some kind of wave. do you know why that is?
Hi! It could be something to do with your tension. Perhaps try crocheting a little looser? I hope that helps! Let me know how you go. 🥰
@@CatventurousCrochet thank you! i actually just had to look a little closer to how to do the double crochets. i was doing that wrong, i only just started a week ago. but i am so thankful for your video bc i’m now able to understand everything and even read patterns! thank you very much :)
@@doodboood A pleasure! 🤗
