he didn't explain the official rules and his grid pattern is incorrect, the rulebook clearly explains it's a 5x9 grid, his is 5x8 and the rules say you can extend beyond the grid... it seems like the value of this is to show how the game is played, he went to all the trouble to make a video and didn't explain the rules in the book.
My Variation: A player can still use path cards if they have a broken item card. But if they have 2 of the 3 types of broken items, they cannot place path cards. If a player has the broken cart, broken lamp and broken pickaxe at once, they must repair at least one of them when their turn comes up. If not, then they are Eliminated for the round. They discard all their cards in hand and cannot gain any more turns and therefore, cannot receive gold regardless of results and roles for this round. That eliminated player must reveal his/her role. If all saboteurs are out of the round because of that, the gold diggers automatically win this round. Repair cards can only be used for yourselves unless someone is about to be eliminated for the round because of having 1 of each type of broken cards (as mentioned above). If all Gold diggers have at least one broken item, the saboteurs can reveal their roles. They won the round! If you are on the winning side, even if you have any broken cards, as long as you don't have all 3 types of broken cards, you still receive gold nuggets for this round.

It looks like it would overwhelmingly favor the miners because it would be near impossible for the saboteur to sabotage the team without revealing their identity. Your fake teammates will only buy the 'I didn't have a better card' line for so long.

Actually the rules aren't that complicated but all the social aspect oof the game, make sure if you a bad guy stay hidden as long as possible , and without telling other , show them on which side you are. Played many time, and had so many suprizes with m friend and even my as appeared evil gf :)

rules say, when miners win, they get as much gold cards as there's miners not players in total (i.e. no more than one gold card each round) - but they seem to be two versions of the rules and people tend to play what this video say as it's more balanced 🤑
Sharing information isn't the same as talking freely. Sharing would be showing the card to others, which is forbidden. Talking (lying or telling truth) is allowed - nobody else knows if you are honest or not.

It adds the possibility of the saboteur isn't in play. But the gold-diggers in that round won't know that the saboteur is out.

One of the saboteurs isn't used each time so you never know how many saboteurs you're playing with.
