    I work at the orient bonsai nursery in Melbourne Australia, and I always only recommend my customers and students to watch your channel as I think your knowledge and the way you trim bonsai is the right way the same way I was taught I hope to visit your nursery one day and see for myself your knowledge and work

    I have a ficus bonsai outside in Florida. Every day it looks like it has grown new leaves.

    I found in the grocery store, a little ficus shoved in too deep a pot and unpruned. Well at least recent to my purchase. When I took it out of it's poor little pot I found a treasure. I have been following for a while so I pulled the soil back from the trunk and upper roots, revealing what looks very much like the legs of a Rubinesque woman. Trimming the lowest tiny branches and some larger ones I revealed her plump and shapely trunk. I continued to trim off a new bottom to the ball of leaves that was the top. Up raised arms and what can pass for a head, rewarded my tentative efforts. I named her Gaia and she holds a place of honor in my living room. I hope you enjoy this rags to riches story of a humble marketplace Ficus❣

    I’m having a real issue trying to get my ficus to grow with any vigour. As I understand it they like lots of light so I positioned it on my kitchen windowsill- south facing window. However it doesn’t seem to like the intense heat on the rare occasion we get sun here in North East England 😅
    It’s a battle between not watering it too much but stopping the leaves from getting baked. Unfortunately I don’t have a humid greenhouse

    • @pansepot1490
      @pansepot1490 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Can stay outdoors in the summer. If you do it gradually so the leaves can get used to sunlight (luminous shade, dappled shade, then morning sun, then longer exposure - this process over the course of few weeks) you can also keep it in the sun. It’s a tree after all, not a plant that grows in shade. All houseplants in general benefit from a vacation outdoors when and where it’s possible.
      Do you feed it regularly? It’s important for a vigorous and healthy growth. Also some people place the pot on a tray with gravel and water. The evaporation creates a humid microclimate that benefits the tree. In ideal conditions it can even start producing aerial roots. Good luck! 👍.

      @@pansepot1490 might try the gravel tray. Wasn’t sure about outside though. With the poor British summer we’ve been having day temps of around 15-18 and night sometimes down to 8- hardly tropical

    Ive had my ficus for a few years now. Ive been putting it outside in the summer, in a very sheltered spot and watering daily. Its looking much better but still no aerial roots. Its so frustrating

    • @DeciduousSnurb
      @DeciduousSnurb 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Try putting your ficus in more sun. (Mine handle a few hours of full sun or more a day.) As far as aerial roots, try letting your ficus grow lots of foliage, mine personally grow them while in a vigorous state of growth, also with humidity.

    Hi Peter do you prune all the Ficus or have you trained your staff to be proficient in pruning, do you ever get a cramp by doing so much pruning work, I know at my age 82 I do get hand cramps occasionally and I know you are of a similar age. Thank you Peter.

    Why do I never see Oak bonsai? Is it because they have a tap root? These Ficus are invasive weeds where I live. I have a hedge of them all around my property and the trunks are like 6" diameter.
