    My favorite d4 system. So relaxing to play when I want a break from the highly theoretical d4 c4.

    This is an amazing opening for low ELO. This opening carried me from 650-1000. It creates an easy to understand and simple position

      @@zoichi_kanoe6227 Not exactly. A 650-1000 rated player won't be able to handle certain complex, tactical or advanced openings. I just meant that it creates an easy to understand position with a simple plan

    little tip : if you want to keep your repertoire as simple as possible, play the trompovsky against 1. ... Nf6

    • @theMosen
      @theMosen 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      The Trompovsky and 'simple'? That opening can go in multiple directions very quickly

    • @Zyrexia
      @Zyrexia 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The only way to call Trompowsky 'simple' is that you have just 1 plan the entire game - attack. Not positional maneuver and all that bs (some positional play is still needed) @@theMosen

    • @theMosen
      @theMosen 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Zyrexia I'm sorry, 'attack' with no further specification does not qualify as a plan. Attack what, with what? Which region of the board are we contesting? With the Tromp, it all depends on black's next few moves. And the Tromp isn't even known for being such an aggressive opening, if you want to go all out attack from the start, you should probably open with the king's pawn.
      The 'simple' Trompowsky plan is: trade your dark squared bishop for the knight while damaging black's pawn structure in the process, get a solid dark square pawn structure and control light squares with your pieces, then either attack kingside or take your structural advantage into the end game. That's kind of the basic idea of the opening, but in my experience games rarely actually play out that way. Black has too many very natural moves that derail that plan, starting with the fact that half the time they don't even allow the initial trade. That's not at all to say it's a bad opening, each response by black creates new weaknesses and opens opportunities for white. Point is, you can't just rely on one simple plan, you'll need to come in with several plans for the several directions the game can take early on. It really doesn't classify as a simple opening IMO, not like Colle or London or Vienna

    Interesting coverage. A dedicated Colle (Kolty) player should first of all know against which setups he should not be using the normal development scheme. I think in general against kingside fianchetto plans it's essential to play c4 and just play a normal 1. d4 Nf6 2.c4 position and accept that you can only play systems where Nf3 is a feature.
    1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 is still fine as after 2...g6 you can just go 3.c4. That's a great choice if you like playing against all the Indian defenses but don't like facing the QGD or Slav Complex. For a QGD/Slav player there is really no way to avoid Colle System while staying inside their repertoire as 3...Bf5 will get you sub-optimal variations of the Slav after 4.c4 and 3...Bg4 4.h3 Bh5 5.g4 Bg6 6.Ne5 isn't really a typical QGD/Slav position in the first place and is quite promising for White anyway.
    My comments apply to the Koltanowski which I've played a lot of. I don't really know much about the Zukertort system.

    Stjepan, at 16:05 you mention 10…b6 (instead of 10…h6) and that the “Greek Gift Sac” Bxh7+ then does not really work well for White, but how exactly would you recommend to play for White after 10…b6, if not 11.e5 Ng4, 12.Bxh7+, Kxh7, 13.Ng5+ Kg8, 14.Qxg4 Qxe5 (and then maybe 15.Nb3 or 15.Qh5) ?

    The Colle System may be a good opening for Classical, but for Bullet and Blitz it develops too slow...that is my opinion. It might be okay for Rapid.

  • @JustanamebroDK
    @JustanamebroDK ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So these dangerous sidelines you mentioned in the classic colle, would you say the zukertort is better against g6 fianchetto/2. nf6/reverse london setups for example?
    How do you know when to play one system over the other? Or is it just a matter of taste?
    Surprisingly fun opening despite it's simplicity. Most black players are simple so used to playing against the london they're have little clue how to throw a wrench in your plans - which are easy to execute too. Especially fun in blitz because the game flows from your initiative with easy to play moves, and constantly asking black questions.
    Great video. You have an awesome approach to explaining system openings.

    I really like the zukertort opening but what if black fianchetto his dark squared bishop in 3rd or 4th moves after we play e3? Since we block our dark squared bishop with the pawn, i generally have a problem in that kind of situation. And also our valuable light's squared bishop's diagonal is closed in that way. What should be our response?

    Out of interest don’t you need to do dxc5 before castles? As black doesn’t need to copy castles and can just play cxd4 which white doesn’t have a move to punish. This either forces exd4 (which ruins the system plan for e4) or if cxd4 from white then they will always get an IQP when pushing e4. Then after the recapture black can castle with probably an easier to play position.

    • @Fringe-ui8qf
      @Fringe-ui8qf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you can do dxc5 before castles but generally white is always happy about cxd4 exd4. It opens the dark squared bishop up on c1 and the e-file for the rook. It's a good carlsbad structure for White.
