It is just mind blowing that the Emperor is the direct descendant of the Emperor over 2000 years ago. His Y chromosome is passed on for over 2000 years.
@@geisteswissenschaft well, true. But I think what he meant was that the first emperor’s DNA was passed down to him. No skipping or adoption. Take Queen Elizabeth 2 for example. Her royal lineage only goes far back at 1,400 years, but some of Elizabeth’s ancestor rulers were women directly descendant of a king or a cousin of said king. So, the “Y” chromosome of said king was passed down through a woman. As a result, the Y chromosome that the woman’s children will have is from a different man, and not from a king (I.e. Victoria and Albert). However, since, Japan’s rule of only men becomes emperor, every emperor from 2,000 years ago has that pure Y chromosome, directly from that first Emperor because his DNA continues to be passed down from one Emperor to another, and not Emperor to an Empress. Does that make sense? It did in my head. 😆
Queens providing moral support and congratulating Empress Masako bring tears to our eyes. There is so much unsaid narrative that needs to be rewritten towards a "happy and safe place".
Yess, I guess it has to do with the time the empress spent in Europe during her battle against depression. The dutch royals have been especially supportive and the spanish queen seems to be close to Masako, too. She knows about the pressure you get, being a commoner with an own carriere, turning your life upsidedown, becoming part af a royal family, becoming watched and critzised by everyone.. ( sorry, sarcasm ahead) ...because ofcourse everyone knows, how to behave as a queen and everyone would do a better job...
@@revontulet1686 Masako's father was a Japanese diplomat in the US and Masako was educated in Boston, which contributed to her self doubt regarding her engagement to the future emperor, and later having to stay away from socializing in public. It cost her a lot to get married under such traditional restrictions.
They have a very special bond. Years ago Masako’s father lived, as a widower, in The Hague, working for the ICC. Masako was not allowed to travel to her father by the Imperial Household. Máxima pleaded Masako’s case with Queen Beatrix who then invited the then crown princess and their daughter several visits to the Netherlands. An invite of the Queen of the Netherlands. Also the Dutch Queen let it be known that Dutch protocol doesn’t require the attendance of members of the Household on private moments. That meant that Masako could see her father a lot, much to the chagrin of the Imperial Household, who normally is omnipresent wherever or whatever their principals do.
Ps the jewelry Queen Máxima is wearing is designed by the French jeweler Mellerio dites Meller. It was ordered in 1889 for Queen Emma, the great-greatmother of the current Dutch King.

And every generation gets shorter because they refuse to have a consort who is taller than the emperor.
@@lualncol lol. The current empress is taller than him.
Well, scientists didn’t find any proof of it. But 9 centuries is already a miracle
Nuestros reyes, los de España, son maravillosos. Destacan entre todos los demás!
You mean plastic botox face 😂😂
Queens providing moral support and congratulating Empress Masako bring tears to our eyes. There is so much unsaid narrative that needs to be rewritten towards a "happy and safe place".
Josephine Acosta-Pasricha
Well said. Queen Letizia appears to be especially demonstrative in her affectionate greetings and overall demeanor.

Indeed. We need to have more compassion for people who are suffering with mental health issues.
@@revontulet1686 Masako's father was a Japanese diplomat in the US and Masako was educated in Boston, which contributed to her self doubt regarding her engagement to the future emperor, and later having to stay away from socializing in public. It cost her a lot to get married under such traditional restrictions.
Máxima jewlery is insane and she carries it so gracefully. The way she looks at Masako is full of tenderness…
@@RoyaltyMagazine thank you for giving us this background information! I’ve always known the Dutch royal family have been very friendly to then crown prince and princess, inviting them on family visits when Masako was under a lot of pressure to produce a male heir. It’s so wonderful to know that there are these background stories to ensure Masako could see her father. The Japanese Imperial household could be so heartless and horrid sometimes.
Yes!! Because Maxima Knows "The Truth" of Poor Masakos Life!!
The King and Queen of Bhutan are both so good looking. Their kids are going to be gorgeous when they grow up.
…I am a pure Japanese living in Japan, but once again I am impressed the greatness of the Japanese imperial family!
So great that make their princesses to turn commoners.
Their royal family is getting smaller.
What a beautiful event...
They look stunning and shining. The Japanese imperial couple. Beautiful ceremony
Wow. This was spectacular all the way round. Beautiful setting.
Finally the good part of being Empress of Japan! Congratulation, Masako-sama!
Letizia es mi favorita es delicada elegante me encanta para mí la mejor 💞💞💞
品のあるドレスに民族衣装のようなドレスに皆様美しいですね。
So much tradition and beauty.
La cultura japonesa es muy fuerte
Queen of Bhutan was the most beautiful woman in entire ceremony. The best dressed was obviously Letizia of Spain.
Very beautiful!
Letizia's dress is outstanding; it just needed to be a tiny bit shorter in the front for easier walking.
Queen of Bhutan is a young lady.
Have you notice Queen of Malaysia. Of course she is beautiful too. Only she is around 60 years old.
Best dressed was Máxima
🇪🇸👏👏👏
They appear to be a very charming, gracious and down-to-earth couple.
.king and queen of spain was stunning..viva El rey y reyna Espania.
One of the Beautiful Tradition of the World..
Queen Letizia so beautiful and so welcoming, love her!!
Thanks!!👍🇪🇸🇪🇸

It would of been great if we had the titles of the royals who attended. I would love to research them separately.
It’s not difficult. Like everything in life you need to study who’s who.
It would have made the video much easier to follow if there was something describing the enthronement ceremony for the Emperor and Empress of Japan and also some identification for some of the less well know royals at the ceremony.
12:29 Beautiful! I guess there is a special friendship between those who have overcome the difficulties.
These people used to rule the world, now they're fashion models
They still rule but traditionally only.

@hexalone Agree.
Is not the out side but the inside of a person what it COUNTS....
Well said.

Oh gosh! I've never seen anything like this. The Japanese really love their ceremonies. Prince Albert of Monaco looks like he put on a ton of weight! And Queen Letizia wore her biggest and best tiara!
What a wonderful charme the Prince of Wales...❤ the way he walks
The Kings are wearing Japan's highest order "The Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum".
As does the Crown Princess of Sweden, being the only female heir apparent in her generation.
Is it the necklace kind of thing or the bronch on their coats?
@@winterflower2002 It is the collar (or chain) of the order.
A great time watching The Royal with magical, trandition is presentation of life
Wonderful to see Empress Masako in her regalia. Hope someone does a documentary on the symbolism & history of the ceremony. Loved Mathilde of Belgium's gold gown.
Mathilde is such a lady!
I love how everyone were just walking by and then Victoria was like "Hi!"

Omg... Bhutan's Queen is gorgeous. And the King is also very humble. Seems like a nice man
I wonder how much the Empress Masako's Kimono weighs. There are so many layers !! ☺
10 kgs
Amazingly impressive. Wonderful traditions.

Charles. Was saying, this is the second time i saw a prince become an emperor in the same country too
And Charles is still a prince
Very nice ceremony for the new Emperor and Empress of Japan.
Those sticks that the Emperor was holding made so many flashbacks to those historical dramas I watched. Imagine of China still had an emperor and empress?..
Japan wonderful country. If I could I lived there. friendly royalty Spain 👍🏻👍🏻😂😂😂
Queen Letizia seems to have a real affection for empress Masako. Two beautifuls women.
