I had one crash land into my driveway and go limp yesterday. Wasn’t moving aside from blinking and breathing. I wrapped them up in a soft towel and left them in a big pot outside and ran a couple errands. I came back and they were still sat in my pot preening themself before hopping out of the pot and running through my hedge. It was a very polite bird 10/10
Moorhens have such a hard time. A pair near me have never managed to raise a chick to adulthood as the river normally washes away the nest/eggs or the herons/crows/magpies steel their chicks. I've seen them build 7 nests, only 3 made it to hatching and only 1 chick made it past 5 weeks old. They are amazing parents too, great team work. I adore them.
I love these birds so much. I used to watch them and eurasian coots on the canal by my university :) So lovely to see them up close. The parent is beautiful and the babies are adorable. Thank you for filming this!
Groetjes Jacq

Wow, that is awesome to watch! Nature are amazing! Greetings from Portugal!
I love Moorhen such great parents. Even juvenile siblings help their parents raise a later brood. Shame the population is currently decreased in the UK.
Me and my mom had raised 7 moorhen eggs along with the parents. It had rained a lot while they were still so one egg was gone. After they hatched everything was good. But today on 5/26/23 one of the babies are gone. I had cried alot .

Adorable.
I always hear them but I've only seen it once. Can you make a video about the Virginia Rail.
No Virginia rails in Europe 😉
So in the video they are European Moorhens not Common Gallinules.
