Got my belly button pierced 12 days ago. It barely hurt me, but I am afraid of a rejection because I have no idea how to differentiate between its warning signs and the normal healing process. My piercer advised me to apply a non-alcohol antiseptic spray twice a day for 10 days. I noticed it used to look quite red, so i started using my family's traditional way of healing piercings as well (applying a mixture of coconut oil or ghee with turmeric overnight). I have solely used that for the 7 piercings on my face. It worked wonders and stopped the inflammation, redness and the sting completely. I was then advised to do a saline solution soak once every two days, so I have been doing that along with the traditional method and my piercing looks great and is completely painless. There's only very light redness if you look very closely, but it's not something someone would be able to point out right away. I did have the itchy phase but it went as randomly as it came.

Do it, but try to scale up. Like a 2mm gauge 18mm long curved barbell with 6 and 10mm balls (titanium off course). Things have to look in proportion. No little-girly belly jewellery in a standard 5/8mm balls on 1.6x10mm way. It's a pita to find that, but it is possible. I'm a 6ft1 woman with a 85cm waist, so I needed a larger scale to my feeling as well. I bent the bar myself from a 2mm nipple bar, also much curvier than usual (100° of a circle).
