Man, some of those melodic lines must be mind-bending to play in 5/4! Then again, you have played Take Five... And some even more rhythmically complex stuff.
You certainly do make it look easy! But I suppose 5 and 7 would be the easiest odd time signatures to master. 9, 11, 13 and so on, those get pretty insane...
Time signature-wise, the craziest song would have to be Dance of Eternity. But it's not jazz. Improvising over a rhythm is a whole different thing than playing a written out melody.
Ahh, it's so nice to come back to the sweet and gentle lilt of a graceful Bossa Nova! 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2, 1-2, ... etc. Did you know, the old telephones used to ring in 5/4, that is, back when all you got was a bell ?
@@gabethebabe8187 You don't know much about the Bossa Nova, do you? I even wrote out the rhythm for you! (Each bar being two longs followed by two shorts...) Of course, you THINK it is different to a Bossa, because of the heavy driving nature of its delivery, but underneath the rhythm is the SAME. In fact, that was the whole point of my posting... and you took the bait. :-) However, it took a whole week for the first response that took issue with my comment to appear, so maybe most people recognised the truth. The Mission Impossible theme is written in a 5/4 rhythm that happens to be the underlying metre of the Bossa Nova.... (and the classic telephone bell ring).
effyleven sure it has the same underlying rhythm, that is pretty much a fact. That doesn’t immediately make it a bossa nova. One of the biggest elements of a bossa is the amount of silence that can happen in the melody. Bossa composers also describe the feel of a bossa should be peaceful and calming. This tune does not fall under that category. (Btw I was the first one to reply to ur comment, not cuz I was the first one to disagree, but because I was literally the first one to see it, I can guarantee it lmao)
@@gabethebabe8187 The whole discussion is about what *rhythm* makes a Bossa, whether you play it gently on a guitar, or smack it down hard in the bass register of a piano... ... or ring it from a telephone bell. (But then, I think you realise that now.)
I'm not the only one that pedals without shoes!! In all seriousness though, I've loved all your arrangements and this is no exception. Your work is great.
Up there with the best but you obviously have to remind yourself to remain humble as not doing so would invite complacency, which stagnates further improvements in playing ability. Superb pianist, blending everything from the past into one being.
Goodness. The score is clearly displayed. The way to play is vividly videoed, in sync with the clear music sheet. But i still feel i cant play this beautiful arrangement!
Sounds a bit like some Final Fantasy boss fight music. Very interesting to listen to some quirky rhythms and love how independent that left hand rhythm is. And not to forget than piano is gorgeous wish I could afford one.
Excellent arrangement... Also your deserve special appreciation for including notes in the video too.. All of there years of you-tube watching this is the first time i'm seeing this..
Another masterpiece of yours! I'm sure that it's not at all a problem for you to play it in 5/4, of course. Anyway, it would be interesting listen to you in that tempo too.
Love this one!
SLSMusic thank you👍
Important nearly to fall off the bench at the end (of a hand-over-hand Em7 arpeggio). That’s what makes it virtuosic.
Man, some of those melodic lines must be mind-bending to play in 5/4! Then again, you have played Take Five... And some even more rhythmically complex stuff.
Synthesia Composer I’ve spent so much time practicing playing in 5 that it’s almost like playing in 4. But not quite that easy.
You certainly do make it look easy! But I suppose 5 and 7 would be the easiest odd time signatures to master. 9, 11, 13 and so on, those get pretty insane...
I've heard a song in 17/8 before... It was jazz of course.
Time signature-wise, the craziest song would have to be Dance of Eternity. But it's not jazz. Improvising over a rhythm is a whole different thing than playing a written out melody.
Synthesia Composer Imagine trying to conduct that... XD
Definitely the most amazing arrangement of Mission Impossible. Well done.
MarcoStango thank you so much👍
1:07, the moment of transition between a very good cover and something incredibly awsome that only you can do
my wife says she loves the way you keep the main theme of the song.. and how you dance around it with jazz..
What an awesome comment!

Wow this is so far from a bossa nova it hurts. Wtf are u talking about

If you ever end up taking requests, could you do an arrangement of a standard like Autumn Leaves in that amazing style of J A Z Z you play in?
Imo, the time signature is clearly 10/8 (3/8 + 3/8 + 2/8 + 2/8). Anyways, the arrangement and the performance are really good sir.
Love it!
