I was first taken to the Sadlers Wells ballet as a child in the 1940s, before it became the Royal Ballet. The Company had several male dancers who were not tall, they were famous for their emotional interpretation as well as superb technique and musicality . To know yourself and perfect what you can do is all that matters. I've been following ballet all my life and I love arms and hand placement above all else! Stay relaxed and take care.😊

@@Susanmuir2 thank you so much! Can I ask you…. How do you see today’s ballet world in comparison with back then? Thank you and sorry if I bother you.😊🙏🏻

@@sergioromeroofficial We used to see a lot of mishaps but the grace of movement was always there. Companies now have become much more technical with support for dancers, and stages have improved! The classical ballets and choreography remain the same, but it's easy to aim for perfection and forget that ballet is an art form. I imagine it's very competitive now. Perhaps the Ballet Schools have favoured the 'ballet body', same as some appear to turn ballet into gymnastics, in my opinion. Vulnerability is part of it, I'm glad you have a partner who dances with you, because that is perfection!😊❤

Thank you Sergio. I'm a shorter male dancer and would love better turnout, BUT, you're right. I have strengths that others don't and it's better to focus on changeing and improving what i can, instead of lamenting the things I can't.
    Merde

@@Dontlicktheballoons that’s absolutely right!! Having said that, you can still improve your weaknesses, the body can change and adapt much more than what we think 🤔

Great video! I’ve always struggled with comparing myself to others and I can attest to how important our beliefs are. Blaming everything on “the others were just born better” demotivated me from trying since I thought I could never improve. Thinking in that way was preventing me from improving, and once I started moving away from those thoughts things that I didn’t know were possible for me started working. So don’t give up! And keep the videos coming 👏

Wonderful advice. Each hardworking, sensitive, creative soul has something slightly different to offer. No, we are not suitable for every possible role. The hard thing though is to see ourselves from the outside, and to imagine what others might value in us.

Brilliant video! I absolutely love your jungle animals example! 🐒🌴🐘
"You have to believe in yourself."
    "Always have hope!"
    "Stop comparing yourself to others."
    "Create your own persona."
All of the above are very true!
But my teenage self (non-dancer, sorry, but self-confidence is a universal problem) would have said, "I'd love to, but I have so many faults and weaknesses. How can I start to believe in myself?"
My Life Experience self has discovered two solutions!
    1. Practical (relatively simple. Write down the skills you have.
    Then write down the skills:
    a) you think you should already have,
    b) want to have,
    c) need to have to reach your career ambition.
Then set a SMART goal on how to achieve each skill. (Look up "SMART" goal setting.)
    2. Psychological/mental health/emotional (requires ongoing effort, but it's very doable and it gets easier with practice. Guaranteed!)
You said: "You can create a persona for yourself."
    Teenage Me: How?
Life Experience: We can CHOOSE the foundation of our thoughts, our self, our attitude to life.
    The foundation I have chosen:
    1. "Yes, I can!"
    2. "I am grateful for every experience, even bad ones. I often learn the most from those."
    3. "Every failure increases my mental toughness/resilience."
    4. "Success can only be achieved by learning from multiple failures."
    5. "All problems/setbacks/failures are a CHALLENGE, not a burden. They give me inspiration to improve."
    6. "Be kind to everybody."
    7. "I am my own best friend."
Teenage Me: Ok, but #7 ... really? Sounds cheesy. And I'm very hard on myself. If I am not very strict and have the highest expectations of myself, I will never become successful.
I say things to myself that I would never say to anybody else.
    Life Experience: Example?
T: "You idiot. Why can't you do [skill] properly? Everybody else can do it but you can't. Nobody will ever hire you. Everybody else will get a job but you won't."
LE: Why would you not say this to anybody else?
    T: It's mean. It's actually verbal abuse.
LE: Yes. I'm glad you realize how bad your negative self-talk is. Do you not deserve the same respect, encouragement, and hope that you give to your friends and family?
T: Um ... yeah, I guess. But how can I make myself improve if I'm just saying nice things to myself? I would just become content with what I already have, and won't want to improve.
LE: How do your friends react when they can't do [skill] and you say nice things to them?
T: They feel better and try [skill] again until they improve at it.
LE: So why would you react differently?
T: Ooooh. 🌥️⛅️🌤️You mean I can be kind to myself AND improve? 🤯
LE: Yes! I finally discovered this in my late 30s!
T: 25 years earlier would have been better.
    LE: I know!!
T: At least you can tell today's teenagers about it.
    LE: 🤝😄
    Cont...

LE: Look up the list of "cognitive distortions." These are common negative thoughts everybody has from time to time.
Having higher expectations for yourself than for others is "double standard."
Assuming "everybody else" will get a job, and you won't is "catastrophization", and "predicting the future".
It has helped me enormously to be able to classify my thoughts! Then I can choose whether I should be taking them seriously or not.
Last tip: When we are tired and/or have low blood sugar, our thoughts become negative more easily.
🌛"Night changes many thoughts." Also "It's always darkest before the dawn."
      🥪🥗"An empty stomach breeds imagination."
🌸For the ladies, monthly hormonal fluctuations can also affect our moods.
Keeping these two or three points in mind can also be extremely helpful when analyzing our thoughts to determine if we should take them seriously or not.
Further reading: Look up "cognitive behavior therapy" also known as CBT.
Thank you so much for the video! You are wise beyond your years - it's wonderful that young male dancers have a role model like you!

Hi, could U tell what to do when Sb has naturally really small unacceptable turnout because of hips and only when turnout more with feet I can get kind of more acceptable range (even though is still small but not as that), but this makes my foot hurts with passing time and there is a high risk of injury which I recently have had
