    Do not use any adhesive on the cards...this damages them, and lowers resale value....I used to work in art restoration

    I always pick up an idea or great tip from you Rusty. You are so right, kindness not only makes the day enjoyable but sometimes more profitable.

    There's one thing you can do with the tobacco cards that would bring you even more money, but it's going to take a little more work. Instead of mounting them the way you show - "tipped in" - you could out them in a double matt so that you have color showing on the front and back. Then frame that. By doing this, the buyer has a good view of the back of the card and the description of what it's about, etc. Just fix the card in place with a tiny bit of art mounting tape top and bottom to keep it from moving in the mat, and you're good to go.
    Doing this, it takes the single framed card up to the $25-30 range, depending on the image. $50-55 for two cards, then you could do three cards, four, six, eight, etc. If you know how to/have the equipment to cut the matts yourself, that's even better, you just buy the paper stock, the frames, and extra glass. For the extra glass part, I'd buy cheap 99-cent plastic frames of the same size, save the glass and dump the rest in recycling.
    Back in the 90s I sold these in not-for-profit museum shops, and the larger ones in a popular image could go upwards of 125. The company we bought from made a big point that all the cards they used were original, and were NOT reprints, so that would be worth putting in your product copy as well. It will add to the perceived value of the purchase.

    That was a good message on being kind, to everyone. I shop often to my nearby thrift stores, and I do my best to be as polite as possible to fellow shoppers and the working associates, it makes for a better day for all. Win ,Win for everyone.

      I disagree. There are billions of deals out there. Me buying one lot in one location will not affect your business. I started out buying things individually and I still do. The other competition of resellers is what is most difficult ...competition.

    I used to manage high end jewelry store in high end mall. I said Costume Jewelry to my district mgr, told Never say COSTUME JEWELRY, always say FASHJON JEWELRY. Thought you may want to know costume is outdated, fashion is best.

    • @BastetNoodles
      @BastetNoodles 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Costume jewelry itself is 36:14 dated, so...think your manager had it wrong. "Fashion" jewelry sounds like stuff from the 80's & up to me.
      Personally, my ears perk up when I hear " vintage costume" referring to jewelry.
