Suisei is blue, she's popular, and is also arguably the best singer in Hololive while also having really good English pronunciation which will be good for singing, "Take Me Out to The Ball Game" on top of it all. It's gotta be a nice coincidence for Holo how this has worked out for the 3 talents they've made life sized statues of to work for this Dodgers collab.

I know why, I live in Los Angeles, I am a Dodgers fan and a Hololive fan. The Dodgers recently acquired a Japanese player Shohei Ohtani - he is very, very good. "Dodger Blue" is the team colors which is why they chose 3 blue holomem.

The WBC was so amazing and I can't imagine how hype it was in Japan, wish I was there since I heard like half of all households were watching it. The game Sui-chan was talking about vs Mexico where they were down by 1 run bottom of the 9th inning, Ohtani hitting that insane double to get on base, Yoshida getting on base then getting subbed in with a pinch runner, then Murakami with the hit to send both Ohtani and the pinch runner home was quite literally an anime ending. And that was just the semi-finals. The Finals vs USA, where Japan was up 1 run bottom of the 9th, Ohtani pitching against Mike Trout (his best teammate in Angels and one of the greatest hitters of all time) and striking him out was a storybook finish. An anime/manga writing that stuff would have people claim it's unrealistic but it happening twice in the world cup of Baseball is insane.

I actually tear up watching Ohtani and Trout facing up. They had been thus far playing “meaningless” baseball, excelling everyday. Finally they played in a final for something that matters, but only one of the gets to go home the hero. Baseball just renders fictions unnecessary.

All memes aside, if I had to think of a legitimate answer as to why Suisei was chosen, I feel like there’s a very logical explanation:
This is without a doubt Hololive’s BIGGEST foray into the western market yet. Sure, we’ve had a convention or a concert here and there, but baseball is a widely popular sport in the US and attracts an entirely different audience. Plus, with the venue being the DODGERS STADIUM is sure to have a whole bunch of eyes on the game.
Hololive and Cover probably want to make a substantial first impression on…well, for lack of a better term, a mostly normie audience that probably has no idea what the heck a Hololive even is. And what better first impression than to bring out some of their hardest-hitting talents? The musical powerhouse that is Suisei, the record-breaking Pekora, and, of course, the highest subscribed VTuber in the world: Gura.
So that’s why I feel those three in particular were chosen. They want to make a strong first impression to a western audience not familiar with them.
…Of course, all of them being blue may have also helped.

It has to be someone who can crack the normies in US, and no I don't think Kanata or Okayu are capable to do that. Suisei and her extraordinary charisma and singing capability definitely fits the role.
@@Cosmoman78 True. Korone could work because she also has a big foreign following but LA Dodgers theme is blue and Korone's yellow and brown doesn't really fit, so Suisei, Pekora, and Gura are the perfect trio for this.
Suisei also recently had a TikTok dance based on her song hit viral spread, so people would def do know her.
It is simply because the three of them are the most popular member in Hololive currently, that's all there is to it. I am honestly a bit surprised that Kobo was not thrown there in the line up for good measure.
This collab is more about Dodger trying to extent their brand awareness to people of Japan, where baseball is also very popular, and Hololive was picked as marketing ambassador, not the other way around. Although there is common interest here. So it makes sense they would pick the most popular members who have wide reach to the masses for this collab.

Apparently, blue is also a color commonly associated with Dodgers (I am not a baseball fan, so I would have never guessed) and to this I will say it is almost like the writing is on the wall for this collab to happen. Hololive has great brand recognition in Japan, it just so happened that their most popular members are blue themed, and the there is Dodgers blue. All the pieces are falling into place.
Although, I share OP's sentiment. I personally think there are members who are far deserving to be involved in this project like Korone and Kanata who are the actual baseball fans for example. Korone herself is a well known baseball geek among Hololive member. But sadly in this money oriented industry, numbers rule everything.

In all seriousness, I'm quite sure that they chose the three not only because of colors, but most likely because those three makes a lot more sense in terms of representing the company in an enormous collaboration like this one. Pekora has been in the top streamers for a few years now, Suisei is vtubing's top celebrity, and Gura has the most subscribers while also being the most famous in the EN branch.

Agreed. Nothing complicated about this. This is a major coup and opportunity for Cover so they're doing the equivalent of an all-in by throwing 3 of their top and most representative talents at it.
Suisei is definitely not the top choice for a baseball collab, and I say that as a hoshiyomi. But she is top choice to be the face of the company, as one of the most accessible to a mainstream audience. And she is indeed blue.

Nijisanji isn’t actually collabing with the NBA, they’re collabing with Rakuten who has the copyright for NBA merch in Japan. So at most some corporate dude at NBA HQ got an email like “hey, we want to make some merch w/ Nijisanji, is that cool?” And the dude was like “ok 👌🏾”. They’re not going to be featured by any of the teams or organizations.

With the new LA office opening in june, this collab will probably mark the official grand opening of that office (not store, just an office. I assume that Suisei was selected because she's one of the very best singers among the Holomems and one of the highlights of the thing is supposed to be singing "Take Me Out the the Ball Game." Pekora was a bit of a mystery; I assume that she was selected because blue is her primary color.
That and Pekora by far is the most popular in Hololive.
Suisei is simply the hottest most popular Holo member at the moment. She sells the most Merch so her face is out there among the public more than any other member. Her song Bibbidiba went super Viral and there is a ton of shorts on YT and Tiktok featuring her dance. It's a no brainer to have her there.
