    Even though the driver is having a hard time communicating, He's giving his best trying to answer every question. Kudos to the driver and thanks to Gadget Addict for advertising this. 🤙

      I might do a follow up video in the future which shows a 'special tour' they offer around Intramuros, still using these e-trikes. I think that tour is a minimum of an hour.

      +Princess Isla's Adventure it will take awhile because the higher upfront costs but in the long run they should pay for themselves with fuel savings. I guess that's why it helps to work with the Japanese government and local government to find ways to make these e-tricycles work in the PH.

    He asked if it's a good job. He doesn't realize that it is not just a good job in the Philippines. It is a fantastic job. There is very much suffering in the Philippines. This is a very happy man that is driving this trike. He makes very good money. It looks like a comfortable ride for him too.

    Pretty cool man, now all we need is some electric jeepneys. If I'm out walking for a long time here in the city I can feel my chest getting clogged up from all the nasty exhaust those things put out. Electric is the way to go :)

      I think the etrikes are not mainly really for tours... the drivers telling you about the different sights are their added value to the transport service but that's all... I think these etrikes are imposed by the Intramuros Admin majorly for a more ethical (compared to the kalesas) and innovative (compared to the pedicabs) transport in Intramuros where the taxis can't get in (because of the narrow streets I guess?). Hope you get official answers from the Admin. :D

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My understanding is that it's really for tours or commuting and that's why they have the different price options. My understanding is that a lot of students in the area are using these e-trikes with monthly passes. I'll upload a picture of the leaflet that shows the route and price options :) Just check the video description in a few minutes for a link to my blog with more details.

    The city "within the walls" surrounded by a moat (now turned into a golf course).
    Trivia: Spaniards and Filipinos drove the Chinese out of the walled city because they were bad for business - selling merchandise at a much cheaper price. They moved them to the Parian on other side of the river which eventually became Binondo, the very first Chinatown in the world.

    Hey i saw my 🏫 school. Oh the good memories and hardships being there. hehe. Even a slight rain is a blessing, cause it'll surely flood the streets and class will be suspended. yey! lol! Wait, BEMAC E-trike has a sample unit with aircons installed and windows &door enclosures right?. Also, do BEMAC have an even smaller unit? Good for, say 2-3 seats including the driver? Great idea would be to modify the back as a "food cart" sort. Fishball, Shawarma, ice cream, lugaw, waffles, sisig, etc. If only BEMAC could make a sample to check it's cost and feasibility. It's size would be very ideal for "mobile foodcart business".

    • @johnfortich
      @johnfortich 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Add in a solar panel on top to power up the cooling or cooking equipments and it's good business. But would the size of roof for the solar panel be enough?

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I saw a few flooded streets around there after the rain. Nothing tooooo bad though. You might be thinking of Star8, they're the ones who have the e-jeepney and the e-bus with windows, doors and aircon. I think this is the first offering from BEMAC, it's a Japanese company but they're manufacturing the e-trikes inside the Philippines. Star8 actually have an electric food cart which was shown briefly in my e-jeepney video before. I think BEMAC are really focussed on a single e-trike unit right now which really makes sense with the LTFRB pushing for modernization of public transport. If they can come up with the best alternative for the existing tricycles AND make them locally, that's a huge selling point.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The solar panels on Star8 vehicles extend the range but they're not enough to avoid needing traditional grid charging. So they'll help, but you still need your traditional charging until solar panels become more efficient.

      Gadget Addict This design, just my opinion, still too big and heavy compared to an ordinary sidecar tricycle. And it's a whole industry of motorcycle sales who'll fight (directly or politically) against it. It's got to have more than an ordinance or a good cause or heck safety in it's belt , it's got to have that "affordable, pretty and profitable" appeal. This has "expensive, untested, and uncertainties" written all over it. It's good BEMAC markets these as totally a separate category of public transport. Like the offspring of a tricycle and jeepney, less the poison air and vulnerability. Be nice to see if BEMAC could pull it and market this unconventionally, like how a phone is to a telecom providers. Bought by the local government, including construction of charging stations, but lease to own to the drivers. That be great. I want one for personal use but more like those two seater golf cart like mini e-car.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess that's what these pilot program are all about. Testing what will work here in the PH. Many of these e-vehicles don't need any special charging station, just a regular socket capable of at least 20A. So a 'charging station' can literally be at pretty much any existing house or business. I actually saw an e-vehicle which is very similar to the smaller local tricycles currently plying the street. I'll see if I have video footage of it and upload it as a new video :)

    Difficulty turning at 0:57. at this capacity might as well be a 4wheeler, might help with efficiency and turn radius

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's no power steering so if you don't want to give your arms a workout, it's easier to just use both arms. I don't think it's strictly required but if you're driving this all day, every day, you might get into this habit.

    • @danzmachinz2269
      @danzmachinz2269 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gadget Addict i wonder if jica/bemac has 4wheel golfcart style prototypes, or would they cost a great deal more. Great vids btw.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know, BEMAC are only focussed on this 3-wheel e-trike known as the 68VM. Aside from the e-jeepney, it seems like most of the smaller e-vehicles here are 3 wheeled. I'm glad you like the vid :)

      I still can't believe I've been there so many times and was never told that before :P It's a relatively short tour but it's well worth the money. I'd certainly recommend to do the e-trike tour instead of a pedicab tour.

      I hadn't heard of that vehicle before but I just looked it up now. I've seen very similar vehicles before but they didn't have the built in flexi solar panel. Pretty cool! Although they seem more aimed for private travel than as a public utility vehicle. I think i'd be more tempted with an e-bike. Although having a roof over your head sure would be nice in the rainy season!

      Yeah I loved that part of the video! The Canon G7X camera performed really well on this shoot. I put it into 60FPS mode and it handled things pretty well. Not the fastest auto-focus but I'm really happy with how the quality of the video came out. I even used the built-in microphone instead of mixing in my lavalier mic cos I thought it sounded good enough already.

      It was a bit of a struggle. I need to improve my Tagalog. I actually spent a few months taking Tagalog lessons (3x a week) but they kept swapping teachers and screwing me around, so it didn't work out so good.
