I love the little details in your videos Rodney. Like when you can see 2 dice laying on the table, 1 of them is showing one pip, and another six. You think about everything, wow.
It's really nice to see a legacy game with replayability and that doesn't damage components. I love the idea of legacy gameplay, but can't come to terms with destroying a game, nor losing it's ability to pass along to a buddy when I'm through. Can't wait to start playing this one upon arrival this week! As usual, Rodney, your rules videos are second-to-none!
Why does it look good? It looks boring and also it seems like its not replay-able. It would be the same "scenarios" over and over if you ever wanted to play again. At $75 and the fact that you don't play against other people, I think thats quite the ripoff and quite boring. Lets be honest people want this because of its relation to league of legends, if that weren't the case I doubt there would be any hype around it.

WOW. what a game - nice job RITO :D Nice explanations Rodney! Living in Macedonia tho, and as a former League of Legends player, I just hope I will not wait for long until this game arrives to my country ...
Couple quick questions: 1) if you complete an objective mid-command line, do you finish the rest of the commands before continuing on? 2) when attack cards talk about ranges 1-3, if you upgrade to range 2 or 3 do you always still have the ability to damage minions at the shorter ranges?
karma121983 1) You fully complete the command line. 2) I don't have the cards in front of me, but if memory serves me, the longer ranges include the shorter ranges too. For example Fuel Tank effects all spaces up to the total range.
Scythe lvl 2: "Turn 90 or 180 degrees." Scythe lvl 3: "Face any direction." Isn't that the same thing? in any plane (two-dimensional) turning up to 180 degrees would mean "any direction". Or am I missing something?
It's been a little while since I shot these, but without looking it up to see if there are any other important wording differences, I would say you're right.
That's how I read it too. My group is starting our campaign tomorrow, so of course I had to have Rodney show me how to play! When that part of the video came up, I paused and had to look, to see if I was misunderstanding something.
I love the programming element. RoboRally is one of my favourites because of the chaos the programs can cause. A little disappointed that the protagonist minis are pre-painted as I love painting minis. I guess I could always paint over or enhance the pre-painted scheme if I didn't care for it. Anyways, thanks for the vid, well done as always.
I have one question about "program track", if this track was full and I will get a damage card that order me to move one space to the right, what would it happen? The first slot would be empty or the card on the sixth slot would pass to the first; I'll be waiting for your answer, thanks for your attention and for your videos, cheers.
When you get damage that you need to place into a slot, you roll a die, and place that damage card on top of that numbered slot. You then execute the instructions printed on that card (if the damage effect is to move 1 space to the right, it means you move your mech to the right, not the cards in your program). As long as that damage card is in your program, when executing your command line, you'll also perform the instructions of that damage card, ignoring any underneath of it, until you repair that damage. Does that answer the question?
Hi Rodney, Is making this channel your full-time job? It has great production value and you seem very committed to creation, and supporting others who create (like those that wrote the music you use). Kudos to you, and I look forward to your response.
Nailed it Rod, another awesome tute thanks, look forward to watching the rest. I'm a Games Workshop board game fan but this looks like something else..... :o)
In a 4 player game does Memory Core let you draft the extra cards you deal out. For example, if I have level 2 Memory Core and deal out 6 cards, does player 1 draft the fifth card and discard the sixth card?
I don't review on this channel, so I can't help you there, but hopefully the videos can help you learn to play, so you can get to playing a little faster if you do get a copy!
@@Calixtus I don’t do reviews, so I can’t help with that. Instead, I teach how the game is played. I talk a bit about that here: th-cam.com/video/p0Lv8LHadMc/w-d-xo.html&t=10m55s
There is a discussion about that here, which I think has the most up to date information: boardgamegeek.com/thread/1645785/lets-chat-about-shipping-costs
Each of the scenarios can be played as one off challenges, and after the campaign, there are ways to increase the difficulty. I also suspect we'll be seeing players making their own challenges and custom scenarios as well.
Hey Steel, that's not something I can weight in on - I avoid trying to assess for others what their enjoyment of something will be (as that's going to vary wildly from person to person), but I hope you find the information you are looking for, and that this video can help give you some insights.
So if there are no good cards that a player wants or can use, can they scrap it without having to carry out the scrap command, or does scrapping force you to obey the scrap command? Basically, can I discard a card that I picked up if I don't want it without having to resolved anything?
Unfortunately that answer does not fully met the question asked: When you discard a card, can you chose to not resolve the discard (scrap/reprogramming) activity? (guess: no) Which then triggers follow-up questions: in case of "reprogramming" can either one or both slots be empty (guess: yes). in case of "scrap": can you perform that, even if you have no damage at all (just to get rid of that specific card) ?
You can lose individual missions, but then you can go back and retry it from that mission (you don't have to go back to the very start of the first scenario).
How did you get so many cards at @11:01? Are 5 new cards refreshed each time a Player Phase ends, so all the process gets repeated again and you don't lose Commands from previous rounds? If so, I'm guessing that this happens after the Minion Phase. Also, how much did you like this game? My friends and I have played LoL a lot, but it has a very hefty price tag for a game that has limited play (or, can you play it after you're done with the actual campaign? This looks like a Legacy game...).
Right, you repeat the phases of the rounds over and over again until the game ends (but you don't wipe your board each time - you continue to add to it). I don't review on this channel, so I can't help you with that question. There are no destructive elements in this game (like a legacy game would have). Things unlock, but once you're done, you can reset everything, or play the add challenge bonus levels when you are finished. They are also working on more custom scenarios to release on their website.
I see, so former missions don't influence the later ones, while still continuing a story. Okay, thank you very much then. Love your videos! I'm a total newb to the hobby and each time I see that you have a tutorial on a game I feel relieved to know that I will be guaranteed to know how a game works and be able to discuss with my group if we would like it! I like hearing the Dice Tower TALK, but your videos are MUCH better to decide if we would like to buy the game! Thank you for your great work!
Former missions influence future pones, in the sense that each mission unlocks some new cards to add in - but they are easily removed and reset if you wanted to start an entire campaign over again. Very glad you're finding the videos helpful - and welcome to the hobby!!
I have bought the game and i am really happy about it. It's so funny and at the same time provides a great challenge. I have a question about the damage phase. I need to take and result 1 damage at time. If as a result of a damage card i get moved next to another minion that previously do not damage me ... I will get damaged from him ?
W O W ....i mean L O L .... Is there any info when it crosses the ocean and in what price ( in euros) ??? by the way Rodney your clarified way of speech is phenomenal.....
Very kind of you to say. Check the description of the video and you'll find a link to their website for the game, which provides some information on how to order the game in October. Cheers!
Thanks for the video; it looks awesome! How replayable would you consider this? I know it's not technically a legacy, but are the secrets so big that it would spoil repeated play (trying hard to word it so it doesn't look like I'm asking for a review ;))?
Yeah, I would have a hard time answering that. I feel I can say that it's not so much that the secrets create narrative changes, so much as they add new elements to the game play. When you play through again, it won't be for the story (which stays the same), it will be for the added challenges that get unlocked. I'm personally thinking about creating my own scenarios actually. I wouldn't be surprised to see others do it too.
The game is advertised as a 2-4 player game, but it's fully co-operative, so if a person wanted, they could choose to control multiple mechs on their own, but that's up to the player. I would just say that's not how Riot Games is advertising the game.
Hey Josianne, if you go to the link in the description of the video, you'll see in the upper right hand corner they indicate when you'll be able to order the game (it's a date in October).
I think that means you can keep facing the direction you are already facing, whereas before, you would HAVE to turn either 90 or 180 degrees. I don't know for sure, however, that's just my best guess.
Hey I love this channel. Do you know what's different between wave 1 and wave 2? Is it just a reprint of the first one, or a whole different game? I really want this, but the first one is really expensive these days.
Hey there - I'm not sure. I know the Waves are really just productions terms. They printed a certain number of them, and then when those sold out, they prtined a second wave. I'm not sure if they made any changes between waves.
When you move past a space with minions, do you kill the minions you passed over? Like say I move three spaces, each with a minion, are they all killed?
So if you play with 2 players, is the games' AI adjusted accordingly? I'm afraid I won't have anyone to play this with, so I'll probably be going solo on this.
I've been playing this almost exclusively 2 player. The adjustment is that you always draft a total of 4 Commands. So with 4 players, everyone gets 1 each. With 2 players, this means both players get 2 each. So although there are fewer mechs, they level up a little quicker.
the champions comes from the game League of legends ( Zigss, corki heimerdigner and tristiana) I wish they made 1 command deck for each Figure . it just does not fit into the game that Ziggs ( trows bombs in the computer game) now can shoot lightning balls and so on :) i know its a small thing but its like having a Cyborg in Shadows over camelot . the draft could still have happend but from individual decks were we were forced to discard X remaining cards after picking. But the game does look great still.
Out of curiosity, the card 'Scythe' has it's first ability "You MUST turn 90 degrees". But its second and third abilities do not say "MUST"...is this at you choice now?
For the 2nd ability, you must turn (I know it's not stated explicitly), but for the 3rd level you can turn i any direction, including, back to the one you are currently facing :) )
When you get to the final scenario, it unlocks an advance mode for playing through again. Alternatively, you can stop thinking of it as a campaign at that point, and just play it like any other game, choosing a scenario and trying to beat it.
Sure, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some rule or mechanism in the secret scenario books that would make one or more of the missions unplayable solo.
this is a game that would benefit from using a tablet app instead of the instruction booklets to ensure the players dont skip ahead and look at new things early
I feel this is one of those things that if someone wants to spoil the excitement of surprise for themselves, then they should be able to. It won't change or affect how you play the game with your friends so I don't see it to be that big of a deal. I know that I won't be looking ahead at all! I look forward to the surprise element! But not everyone is like that.
I only just found out about this game too and it's $200 on Amazon. Went to Riot's website and it's no longer in stock. They have sold the game in multiple waves, it seems, and have a link to upcoming waves but when you click it, it goes nowhere, so I believe it's out of print now. You can find unopened copies on Ebay but keep in mind the shipping is expensive. There are one or two sellers currently with multiple boxes and offering it with free shipping (probably added to their overall price), for around $150. You will have to judge if that is a price you are willing to pay for a new copy, or wait and see for opened ones at less cost to bid on. I'm a big Robo Rally fan and minis gamer, so for me I am willing to splurge to not miss on this one.
They are standard card size (like Magic The Gathering). I haven't done a card count, but I can say, if you sleeved them, they wouldn't fit into the inserts. That said, they are really high quality cards - not flimsy, and we've played a full campaign and then some and they still look good. Your mileage may vary :)

In a 4 player game does Memory Core let you draft the extra cards you deal out. For example, if I have level 2 Memory Core and deal out 6 cards, does player 1 draft the fifth card and discard the sixth card?
You still draft the normal amount, the Memory Core just gives you more options to choose from.
Hi Rodney. In your opinion, after having played several games, is it possible to custom make your own missions? Thanks!

Careful, rumors spread fast :)
+Watch It Played Ha, yeah, I know, I guess I meant to say you might be responsible for mass shipping to Canada... :)
I heard he was just going to arrange for one copy to be shipped to each home in Canada...
Would it be possible to have a video made of faq’s and demonstrations of certain rules and cards
Hey Adam, this is not something I plan to do currently.
Is there any possiblity for solo play?
The game is advertised as a 2-4 player game, but it's fully co-operative, so if a person wanted, they could choose to control multiple mechs on their own, but that's up to the player. I would just say that's not how Riot Games is advertising the game.
Im looking on riot site and i can't find the place to order that game.
Can you help me to order it ?
Hey Josianne, if you go to the link in the description of the video, you'll see in the upper right hand corner they indicate when you'll be able to order the game (it's a date in October).
Many thanks
what would be the difference between "turn 90 or 180 degrees" and "face any direction"?
I was thinking that myself - I'm guessing it means you don't have to turn/can stay facing the same direction
I think that means you can keep facing the direction you are already facing, whereas before, you would HAVE to turn either 90 or 180 degrees. I don't know for sure, however, that's just my best guess.
It would mean, you don't have to turn. You could keep facing the same direction.
I'm not sure if they made any changes between waves.
any chance your time with Riot will include a play through?
Very good chance :)
When you move past a space with minions, do you kill the minions you passed over? Like say I move three spaces, each with a minion, are they all killed?
Anytime you move into a space with a minion, you stomp it. So in your example, yep, 3 minions dead!
Love this video, but I just got this game today, and I still don't get what the hour glass is for?
This comes into play in later scenarios (you'll find this explained in the later tutorial videos :) )
the champions comes from the game League of legends ( Zigss, corki heimerdigner and tristiana)
I wish they made 1 command deck for each Figure . it just does not fit into the game that Ziggs ( trows bombs in the computer game) now can shoot lightning balls and so on :) i know its a small thing but its like having a Cyborg in Shadows over camelot . the draft could still have happend but from individual decks were we were forced to discard X remaining cards after picking. But the game does look great still.
would make more sense if heimer make the robots and ziggs made the bombs for them
Are we going to get a playthrough of this one?
A good chance, we'll see!
Chain Lightning says "If a Minion dies". For the tutorial scenario, do crystal shard deaths trigger Minion death effects?
Yes, in this case, a crystal can be chained from and to.
nice vid :3
Thank you!
Excellent!!!!
Thanks!
If The Damage Card Is Removed From your command line, does it get rid just the damage or the command card as well??...does that make sense
Hey Sidney, it just removes the damage card (not the command cards underneath). Hope that helps. Have a great time playing!
Needs a Teemo expansion!
Just say NO to TEEMO!
COME TO THE DARK SIDE >:)
Only if the Teemo is full AP, the MOST ANNOYING kind of Teemo.
Minion horde? Riot = Supercell confirmed
Is it possible to fail a mission and have to try again?
Yep, that's how it works. If you lose, you try again.
where do the names of the mechs come from?
e.g. Ziggs and Heimerdinger
These are characters from the League of Legends universe.
so my only gripe is, is there any replayability for this game? dont want to play through all of missions and have a big box collecting dust ; (
When you get to the final scenario, it unlocks an advance mode for playing through again. Alternatively, you can stop thinking of it as a campaign at that point, and just play it like any other game, choosing a scenario and trying to beat it.
Thanks Rodney!
Is there any reason this can't be played solo controlling multiple mechs?
It could be, but it's listed as a 2-4 player game, as that is the count the designers feel gives the optimal play experience.
Sure, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some rule or mechanism in the secret scenario books that would make one or more of the missions unplayable solo.
Nope, you're all good there!
Awesome, thanks.
this is a game that would benefit from using a tablet app instead of the instruction booklets to ensure the players dont skip ahead and look at new things early
They have added a "Radio Play" on the website. Has kinda same feel.
I wanted to see Rodney flipping that big box.
That might have been a record if I had :)
why no rumble he is already on top of a mech
Just wait and see ;)
"Story" wise, Rumble is the one giving you the missions. The idea is that the four characters learn from Rumble how to pilot a Mech.
makes sense, thank you
shouldn't corki and heimer kinda know to use them since heimer could probably make himself a better mech and corki always flies planes
This is so expensive, how did you get this game?
You can usually order it from their website.
What are the dimensions of the cards? And how many are there as I would like to sleeve them.
They are standard card size (like Magic The Gathering). I haven't done a card count, but I can say, if you sleeved them, they wouldn't fit into the inserts. That said, they are really high quality cards - not flimsy, and we've played a full campaign and then some and they still look good. Your mileage may vary :)
Okay, Thanks
Can u still buy this game?
You'd had to check their website, but I believe so.
Seems complicated... When you loose this game? I dnt get it, there is no way to loose?
Hey Giovane, each scenario provides a win and lose condition.
the only one you returned was the one i liked most :(
No worries, I use different mechs in each video :)
He uses Corki in the Mission 1 video doe
