imo their song 'mvsk' was so perfect in every way. it's dark, alluring, hypnotic and a totally new way to express a "space" concept without sounding like the usual generic sparkle sounds. it bothers me to no end that wakeone is directionless when they have incredible talent on the line here!! for their next comeback, i'm PRAYING for something sleek, elegant and mature; in this way, i genuinely think that all the members can showcase their strengths to the level that they deserve.
That exact same concept has been izone's concept. It would be unoriginal for kepler to follow izone's image. They're better off with the quirky space concept
i’m glad to see someone make a video like this. It’s almost unfathomable to me how terribly kep1er are being handled, from their lack of promotions, to lackluster music and performances, it’s all a trainwreck. There’s no harmony with the group and as you said at this rate they’re gonna end up absolutely no where in two years time. i kinda disagree about yeseo tho. i think giving her acting gig during the promotion of the group wont help her or the group because of conflicting schedules. they only have 2.5 years and kdrama filming takes months. i want her to act too but she already has prior experience, so her acting future wont really be a problem. also, as an example, izone didnt have acting gigs for hyewon and minju.
i feel so bad for yujin, clc have been handled terribly then were disbanded, and now the moment she thought she'll finally get the debut and the successful career that she deserves wakeone spits on her and ruins everything
One of the big problems with WakeOne they only have eyes for Dayeon. I don’t they are underusing Dayeon is the other way around you see Dayeon in every single thing the ones who actually need more exposure are Mashiro and Yujin they are good vocalists and dancers. Bahiyih has already got some exposure at the cost of Yeseo so they basically don’t touch the time of Dayeon but they take time of the other members. Sometimes I feel they want to create this image where Dayeon is the center. So basically Kep1er’s problem is on management some moves feel random.
I agree to some extent that Dayeon should get lesser lines but she is literally Kep1er’s 3rd best vocalist after Chaehyun and Youngeun. Yes she sings better than Yujin and Mashiro. So I think problem here is that WakeOne want Dayeon to do everything but they really need to choose whether she’s a vocalist or rapper and stick with that.

What the OP must've wanted to say is probably about solo career opportunity that she can benefit from while promoting as a Kep1er's member. However I also think that it is not going to give a great outcome for the group still as while Kep1er is successful, they're not successful enough to have its foreign member to be pushed like that. Xiaoting cannot do acting and hosting as she's not fluent in Korean (plus I doubt a foreign idol member will even get such chance). Modelling is nice though. They should go for it with her.

And Wakeone allowed her to perform ballroom in Isac those are opportunity for spotlight. If OP meant spotlight as solo activities like MC, brand ambassador etc all of them are not given spotlight yet except Chaehyun. In terms of vocal and dance parts, Vocally she is F. But she surpassed someone F+. She is a great ballroom dancer but Kep1er's choreo doesn't cater to her techniques in dance compare to others but she was still given a chance to be the center in dance breaks. She has charisma and talent that's why it's feels like it is always never enough. She would have better opportunity if she's in other group. But supressing is not really happening. Tho cover songs and dance covers for all members would be better. She is part of my bias line (foreigners+Hiyyih) and I think they aren't given much attention from wakeone. Hikaru-rap, hiyyih-lines, Xioating-deprived of concept which would suit her more. I hope Kep1er's popularity boosts so solo activities would be possible for them.

It's obvious that they don't have a plan with the group. I recon that they would just milk them until it's time for disbandment. They had all the opportunity to capitalize on their members. They have trended for multiple reasons. Yujin for example, already gained a lot of following during the show. Xiaoting's ballroom dance at ISAC. She is obviously a star. Hikaru's strong stage presence too.
Yes I agree with you I have seen so far Xiaoting, Hikaru, Yujin trend, and Dayeon. I have also seen Chaehyun get recognized because her voice. I started to see know people finally recognize Youngeun and Yeseo’s dancing skills in Queendom. Also, Youngeun, Mashiro, Bahiyyih vocals. But honestly, all of the members deserve so much better.
Youngeun has been my Kep1er bias since I watched her kick it performance even before I saw the first episode and I’ve watched the show 3 times. She gets lines but for some reason, she feels invisible with he other members and so does Mashiro. It’s really strange

She shined so much back in gp999 and people would always praise her for her talents and she was even the fourth most popular member when they first debuted but W1 just decided to waste her talent with lack of screentime and other things such a rap, youngeun suits girl crush and badass type concepts like in kick it which she shined so much, the concept of kep1er just ain't it for her

the problem is NOT the lineup, it's the promotions and management. I don't understand ppl saying "they don't have chemistry""they don't fit the vibe of the group" like wdym? remember this is a group of 9 humans. (I know it sounds weird but let me explain) ofc the members have their differences, every kpop group literally does, but other companies try to make sure their images as a group are similar - styling, training, musicality etc... it can make a huge difference. Just like op said.. firstly they don't have a sound, their 3 albums are completely contrasting.. their lore is also underdeveloped so it's not going to help their popularity. They also don't promote the members well, they could post more covers to showcase their talents, their yt vlogs and content are poorly edited. And for the members, yeah the styling sucks too, it doesn't highlight the members well, and sometimes they arent cohesive as a group(especially up! promos, half of the time yujin is dressed up for an elegant concept nd hikaru for girl crush) Wakeone sucks at managing. They're a new company to the industry, and they are only running bc they are backed up by cjenm financially And honestly, kep1er is only popular bc they were from a survival show (and bahiyyih being txt's brother) it's the only 2 things the general public knows about them. They would've been nugu instead (AND FYI, yes my girls they are extremelyyyy talented and have amazing personalities, but talent and character isn't equal to popularity, it's just how it works)

Wing wing (Japanese comeback single) is better than up and Wadada in Line distribution.. The song sounds the same as up tho. And I dunno why these songs are always hitting high notes. Some Kepler members sound better in undertones.. For ex) Mashiro can hit high notes, but her undertone sounds much better. Kepler should make more songs like MVSK that showcases their undertones.. +)I miss Soojin from Idle.. she had amazing undertone..
You are right! Kep1er has no identity. However, when I heard “The Girls”, my brain was like “This is it. This is Kep1er. This is Kep1er’s sound. Kep1er’s identity.” So, I don’t understand why WakeOne won’t keep going with that. Yes, Kep1er is versatile which they can do with their b-sides but, Kep1er is Girl Crush. great video dude,, and i honestly relate to this a lot (sadly)... i watched gp999 live every week, i voted, i was very invested. i liked the final lineup and also ended up falling in love with them even more, ready to make them one of my ults. but then wadada dropped yk, not great, still had hope tho (even bought a signed copy of the album like i was still very much into them) but i guess i just slowly lost interest in them as time went by because now im scared to say that i almost dont care about them anymore.... this video explains it very well imo for their japanese debut i didnt even bother to listen to the bside anymore, tt got boring quick too.. yeah.... its sad ill keep a tiny bit of hope for their next comeback,, maybe it does get better

The fact that you don’t care about Mashiro says it all. Mashiro was soo popular in GP999 but now she’s just as hidden as Yeseo. People always forget about Mashiro but sadly in this case unlike Yeseo where it’s the company’s fault. Mashiro decrease in popularity is her own. Her personality is very reserved and quiet but on stage she really does perform well.
I RELATE TO THIS 100%. I followed GP999 from Ep 1-Final. I cried when Bahiyyih got 2nd Rank for the Final Top 9. Both my top picks (Xiaoting and Hiyyih) made it to the final Top 9. But after Wadada released, my excitement died down after like three months after their debut. The reasons for it are similar with yours! As for Bahiyyih, the amount of hates this girl got is crazy, she doesn't deserve it one bit! No matter how many mass reports Hiyyihlights have sent to Wake One, the agency did not do a thing. I remember Xiaoting to be so phenomenal in GP999 especially for her Snake performance. But after debuting, I do agree that the agency doesn't do much to show her potential. The songs too..They're pretty mediocre, imo. :") Same with you, I wish they'll find their 'sound'. The 'sound' that screams Kep1er! Honestly, my biggest issue with kep1ers music is the fact that their company is truly clout chasers. Having been in kpop since 2nd gen all of Kep1ers title songs sound like a once chart topping song from 2nd or 3rd gen. There newest song almost sounds like Sistar's Shake it which we know went viral after Loona covered it on queendom. They don't want to carve out a section for kep1er, they just want them to make money. I like their Japanese songs better than Korean and that's saying something bc I rarely prefer japanese songs over Korean. If I have to choose between Kep1ers remake and the original song, I'm just going to listen to the original. Wakeone needs to get it together.
Tbh I feel like this group was overhyped because they were in an Mnet survival show and people expected an Izone 2.0. Also the group and fandom still move with a competition mindset. I don't stan Kep1er but I stan TO1 (another group under WakeOne) and I can guarantee you that WakeOne IS the problem; You can take all the things that you said in your video, change Kep1er with TO1 and it's the same shit (except that TO1 is a permanent group and they changed the lineup for no real reason). WAKEONE HAS NO FUCKING IDEA OF WHAT TO DO WITH THEIR GROUPS! And the worst of all is that with Boys Planet, soon they will have a new group under their management and have no idea of what to do with it either.
Wakeone thought just because Kep1er come from an mnet show they had it in the bag. But the reality is, yes I.O.I and Iz*One had a head start because of Produce, but ultimately what made them so incredibly popular were their music and their content. Just like them Kep1er had hype around their debut, but unlike them Kep1er were unable to sustain that hype. There lies the huge difference.
They should go with a concept like MVSK, it's perfect for them. I still don't understand why WakeOne made WA DA DA as the title & debut track when they have MVSK all along tsk tsk tsk! I couldn't agree more this video is everything I have ever needed. I agree with EVERYTHING you said and I feel the same way I just didn't know how to put my thoughts into words so I am very grateful you did it for me and other people who feel the same way. Just like you I was rooting for Kepler at the beginning and I even wanted to stan them but their lack of identity is KILLING me. When it comes to my preference concept is something that is THE MOST important when it comes to a group. To me it is absolutely A MUST for a group to have unique concept. My ult list consists of only one group Dreamcatcher and I fell like I don't need to explain why is it like that. Their concept is one of the most unique concepts in the whole kpop industry and because of their unique rock sound all their songs just scream dreamcatcher. Another group I stan is PIXY and groups I want to get into are LOONA, Purple kiss and Billlie. See the pattern? I know the video isn't about any of those groups but I brought them up because I wanted to really show how much concept matters to me. All these groups have their IDENTITY and are SPECIAL no other groups are like them. Kepler on the other hand feels boring without a real concept I don't know why anyone would stan a group when there is absolutely nothing and I mean NOTHING special about them. I truly feel sorry for the girls

I watched gp999 and I was so disappointed with the final line up because only one of my fav trainees survived but then I said to myself it's okay I will still support the group but then they debuted with wddd and things started getting worse with the mistreatment of some of the members and their awful line distribution 💀 I still tried my best to be patient and wait for things to maybe get better then the whole ot8 keplians drama started and honestly it killed all the excitement I had... not to mention how I didn't like a single song or enjoy any of their content. Everything about this group is awful ( no hate to the girls because I still like them and feel sorry for them because they're trapped in this gp)
u made a lot of good points ab the company's job, but I feel like if u feel like the girls are talented and u connect w them, u can still stan kep1er and follow them on their respective journeys after they disband.
wakeone is a company that truly annoys me, another issue is that most companies will let you know a month before so you could pre-order. no they give us less than a month to pre-order and some of kep1er fans are young so idk if they could even afford to buy those albums in a short time.
The only silver lining with all this is that kep1er is currently most popular in japan. My only concern is that they might lose their popularity as these new groups hit the japanese market.
I didn’t watch GP because of the past trauma from watching the produce series so i just waited to see and watched a reviews from the k-pop commentary channels. I went to Kcon this year and got to see them for fan interactions but I got beef with WakeOne in how they’re managing the girls. I was so confused why they were on Queendom 2 when they should be planning a comeback. And secondly there concept needs be story we can get behind and mv production needs to be better.

The part where I agree the most is the content, I mean at first the kep-chup eps were fun but it was bc I was curious about what was gonna come next (and they were debuting, I was excited for literally anything they did). The new episodes are just REALLY bad produced and honestly I'm not enjoying them anymore. i honestly think temporary groups are so perfect for actual real lore (like not just hints... in an mv that get forgotten after a year) and a storyline that makes sense because with regular groups it gets too messy trying to keep it going for the group's entire tenure but with a project group that you have a clear timeline for the like 2-3 years they're going to be a group it's genuinely the perfect opportunity to actually tell a full story from start to finish with everything planned out. i think it could really be something special if done right. like have 2-3 comebacks a year and plan out what the story is before you even debut the group so everything is planned out. it would be fucking awesome. and i think it would work to get people to stan them as well or at least be invested in their stuff while it lasts because you come for the music + full storyline combination. kind of like if a tv show was a series of albums

Basically just like IOI after produce 101, they also had no concept and only got one year as a group because they were just testing out. Then Wanna One and IZone got a longer contract and better thought out concepts -.-. And yet IOI still had better songs than Kep1 it's sad, I really wanted the best for those girls since the finaly, I had high hopes :(

I mean let's gets some facts straight. 1) First of all kep1er aint getting jobless *as long as they sell 300-400k albums* each comeback and when sales keeps increasing. They might lack domestic (Korean) success but are still very popular internationally, specially in Japan. 2) Idk what content you've been watching (or rather not watching) with Kep1er but *Kep1er do go to variety shows almost CONSTANTLY.* From IDOLLIVE to MNET shows on M2 channel, and whole other bunch of side shows, they are constantly out there promoted on variety shows. But I agree that the editing on Wake one's own stuff (like kepchup and kep1us) could be better 3) While some of thier songs isn't my cup of tea, *their b-sides are amazing. Like MVSK and le Voya9e are some of my favorite songs this year.* And many people still seem to enjoy their title tracks because they sound kinda fresh, youthful and different. But yeah, it's not everyone's cup of tea I guess 4) Getting acting gigs for idols on a temporary group is kinda ¨ a bad idea. They only have so much time. *Acting takes up too much time for an idol on which they won't have time for other schedules such as comeback promotion.* Produce groups are very busy going back and forth between Japan and Korea and promoting also worldwide. 5) *What keeps me invested in Kep1er are their personalities and chemistry and how funny and entertaining they are.* Some people say they lack chemistry but they are the same people that don't follow or care for the group, aka solo stans. Yes I agree they are a big problem for this fandom 6) *They are overworked but what did we expect for a temporary group?* And don't think Queendom 2 really "flopped" as you say, Kep1er might have gotten some buzz going around them in Korea because of that show but maybe not as much as W1 hoped. 7) *Regarding their competition,* I couldn't care less. None of the other 4th gen groups interest me much honestly. Maybe it's just me. They might have some better content but the chemistry and personalities of Kep1er is unmatched for me at least. i think kep1er is going to do just fine as kep1er. just like you said, their sales are really good. i also love their chemistry. we do not know whether all of the members are close friends or not, because at the end of the day this is business, but no one that has watched their content can deny that they have a nice group dynamic. IVE is one of the most, if not the most popular 4th gen group right now, but i've seen a lot of people saying they don't really enjoy their content, mostly because of the members' relationships feel a little bit forced. now i doubt this will be an issue for IVE's success and they might grow closer together as time goes by, but to me kep1er's members' chemistry is a great quality. however after disbandment, it will be hard for most members to establish themselves in the industry. it's so much harder for ot9 fans to fully support them in new groups or as soloists, because it would be much more expensive and time consuming. they cannot rely just on their fandom as it is now. if they were doing better domestically, i think the general public might be curious about what the members would be doing after disbandment and this would give them a much needed boost. members with a large amount of solo stans such as hiyyih are safer, because they have a solid fandom that is willing to support them wherever they go, but this is not the case with most of the members. anyways kep1er is doing relatively well, so i think there is still some hope for them, but everything is up to their company now. i personally don't have much faith in wakeone when it comes to treating the members equally, but hopefully they can give them good music and an artistic direction that will shape their identity as a group (i don't think they have no identity, but they could do a bit better).
@lix Some say they lose fans but sales keep increasing, it doesn't add up. Means they're still gaining more fans than losing so Wake One probably thinks they're doing something right, why change something that apparently works. Or those who leave fandom are just casual fans and don't support the group with money (buying albums and merch). Company's primal care is money. I also think a lot of things can be improved, W1 seems to at least try, we have seen them get better at line distribution among other things. Some of the opinions in this video is more about personal taste rather than constructive criticism (what music Kep1er should make or what concept they should have). Its hard to please everyones tastes. However there must still be a lot of people enjoying this kind of music, style and vibe since Kep1er is actually getting more popular, (but not in Korea as much yet)

I think they should get a new producer cuz the music they released so far is mid at best however I disagree with the yeseo comment , she can act when she wants but it would pause their promotions , instead I think. They should make her a center , her center qualities got a lot of attention in gp999 , it feels like they have all the right pieces but doing the wrong puzzle
i liked so many other girls in gp999 that didn’t make it but i was ultimately not disappointed with the final lineup but it’s just that something didn’t click at the end, when i think of the girls individually they’re all IT girls so why the hell is wakeone not making kep1er the IT girl it was supposed to be? i don’t really like their music at all but people seem to enjoy their b-sides especially mvsk that got a lot of praise, it doesn’t matter if the albums are good they need the title to be appealing so they need to be given a song on par with mvsk to get them to the top then from there all the other opportunities will come their way. queendom was really pointless and i think a spring comeback would’ve been lovely instead of a summer comeback. they’re talented and pretty they just need the chance to showcase their talents and charms idk if i personally can ever like kep1er as much as i wanted to but maybe if they have a really good song they can attract more fans and just have more variety shows and endorsements opportunities and form the foundation for their future post kep1er careers.
My problem starts with the lineup, and don’t get me wrong I love all 9 of the girls and I’m glad they could debut, but this lineup is not cutting it. Most of the members don’t fit the concept, in fact most of the members don’t fit with eachother. Their voices don’t blend well their image is a mess and let’s not get started on representation. This lineup was just a mess to begin with, you can’t just put girls who should do a cute concept with girls who fit a elegant concept AND girls who fit a girl crush concept. It doesn’t work well actually it doesn’t work at all, at this point I’m starting to not blame mnet for lineup rigging because look at iz*one the members all fit well within the group. And I know this is subjective but the lineup was messily decided by fans in the last moment. I mean we have xiaoting and yeseo in the same group, and i love them both but their images are totally opposite. Sometimes that’s good for a group but not for a temporary group that has no plans for the future

Wouldn’t it have made more sense to give them songs with the concept they wanted to group to do?

also don't really understand the mashiro part? that was obvious bias. she's one of the members with the best vocal technique and still gets underutilized in songs. she could also very well be used in variety shows, acting gigs and ost's but in japan, to promote the group there too. i was agreeing until that part, you're very weird for that.
Honestly, the fandom should do better. Like yes I get that bahyyih had an advantage but she's one of my favs and it doesn't make any of her supporters want to support the group if they feel their fav is not appreciated in the fandom. It wouldn't matter as much in a permanent group because the fans can be like this is the only time to support my fav but is a temporary group so people can be like I'll just wait until disband. I like to feel like you know tge fandom actually loves everybody. Two they need better songs and styling. And they need to push all members more. The reason why I am not a keplian is exactly because of their lack of identity. When I want to stan a new group it is usually their songs and concepts that get me. Kepler is just not interesting to me in both of these ways. I like their song mvsk though

Kepler has had such a sad development. Almost every member has had no benefits from being in the group. Everything that their company does seems like it is against the group. Most of the girls in the group have not been able to showcase their talents at all. I hate the type of music they make as well. It sounds like it is from a small company. I feel like the group also has no chemistry. They don’t work well as a group at all. Their song structure doesn’t help with that either. They are definitely one of the worst survival show groups. And what I mean by that is that they had so much potential but for various reasons they will probably never be like izone or ioi. In terms of impact, success, and popularity. I only support the group because of Bahiyyih and I will continue to support her after Kepler.

i kinda disagree about yeseo tho. i think giving her acting gig during the promotion of the group wont help her or the group because of conflicting schedules. they only have 2.5 years and kdrama filming takes months. i want her to act too but she already has prior experience, so her acting future wont really be a problem. also, as an example, izone didnt have acting gigs for hyewon and minju.

One of the big problems with WakeOne they only have eyes for Dayeon. I don’t they are underusing Dayeon is the other way around you see Dayeon in every single thing the ones who actually need more exposure are Mashiro and Yujin they are good vocalists and dancers. Bahiyih has already got some exposure at the cost of Yeseo so they basically don’t touch the time of Dayeon but they take time of the other members. Sometimes I feel they want to create this image where Dayeon is the center. So basically Kep1er’s problem is on management some moves feel random.

What the OP must've wanted to say is probably about solo career opportunity that she can benefit from while promoting as a Kep1er's member. However I also think that it is not going to give a great outcome for the group still as while Kep1er is successful, they're not successful enough to have its foreign member to be pushed like that. Xiaoting cannot do acting and hosting as she's not fluent in Korean (plus I doubt a foreign idol member will even get such chance). Modelling is nice though. They should go for it with her.

If OP meant spotlight as solo activities like MC, brand ambassador etc all of them are not given spotlight yet except Chaehyun.
In terms of vocal and dance parts, Vocally she is F. But she surpassed someone F+. She is a great ballroom dancer but Kep1er's choreo doesn't cater to her techniques in dance compare to others but she was still given a chance to be the center in dance breaks. She has charisma and talent that's why it's feels like it is always never enough. She would have better opportunity if she's in other group. But supressing is not really happening. Tho cover songs and dance covers for all members would be better.
She is part of my bias line (foreigners+Hiyyih) and I think they aren't given much attention from wakeone. Hikaru-rap, hiyyih-lines, Xioating-deprived of concept which would suit her more.
I hope Kep1er's popularity boosts so solo activities would be possible for them.

They had all the opportunity to capitalize on their members. They have trended for multiple reasons. Yujin for example, already gained a lot of following during the show. Xiaoting's ballroom dance at ISAC. She is obviously a star. Hikaru's strong stage presence too.
Yes I agree with you I have seen so far Xiaoting, Hikaru, Yujin trend, and Dayeon. I have also seen Chaehyun get recognized because her voice. I started to see know people finally recognize Youngeun and Yeseo’s dancing skills in Queendom. Also, Youngeun, Mashiro, Bahiyyih vocals. But honestly, all of the members deserve so much better.

ofc the members have their differences, every kpop group literally does, but other companies try to make sure their images as a group are similar - styling, training, musicality etc... it can make a huge difference.
Just like op said.. firstly they don't have a sound, their 3 albums are completely contrasting.. their lore is also underdeveloped so it's not going to help their popularity. They also don't promote the members well, they could post more covers to showcase their talents, their yt vlogs and content are poorly edited.
And for the members, yeah the styling sucks too, it doesn't highlight the members well, and sometimes they arent cohesive as a group(especially up! promos, half of the time yujin is dressed up for an elegant concept nd hikaru for girl crush)

Wing wing (Japanese comeback single) is better than up and Wadada in Line distribution.. The song sounds the same as up tho. And I dunno why these songs are always hitting high notes. Some Kepler members sound better in undertones.. For ex) Mashiro can hit high notes, but her undertone sounds much better.

great video dude,, and i honestly relate to this a lot (sadly)... i watched gp999 live every week, i voted, i was very invested. i liked the final lineup and also ended up falling in love with them even more, ready to make them one of my ults. but then wadada dropped yk, not great, still had hope tho (even bought a signed copy of the album like i was still very much into them) but i guess i just slowly lost interest in them as time went by because now im scared to say that i almost dont care about them anymore.... this video explains it very well imo

Mashiro decrease in popularity is her own. Her personality is very reserved and quiet but on stage she really does perform well.

Both my top picks (Xiaoting and Hiyyih) made it to the final Top 9. But after Wadada released, my excitement died down after like three months after their debut. The reasons for it are similar with yours! As for Bahiyyih, the amount of hates this girl got is crazy, she doesn't deserve it one bit! No matter how many mass reports Hiyyihlights have sent to Wake One, the agency did not do a thing.
I remember Xiaoting to be so phenomenal in GP999 especially for her Snake performance. But after debuting, I do agree that the agency doesn't do much to show her potential.

Honestly, my biggest issue with kep1ers music is the fact that their company is truly clout chasers. Having been in kpop since 2nd gen all of Kep1ers title songs sound like a once chart topping song from 2nd or 3rd gen. There newest song almost sounds like Sistar's Shake it which we know went viral after Loona covered it on queendom. They don't want to carve out a section for kep1er, they just want them to make money. I like their Japanese songs better than Korean and that's saying something bc I rarely prefer japanese songs over Korean. If I have to choose between Kep1ers remake and the original song, I'm just going to listen to the original. Wakeone needs to get it together.
Tbh I feel like this group was overhyped because they were in an Mnet survival show and people expected an Izone 2.0. Also the group and fandom still move with a competition mindset. Wakeone thought just because Kep1er come from an mnet show they had it in the bag. But the reality is, yes I.O.I and Iz*One had a head start because of Produce, but ultimately what made them so incredibly popular were their music and their content. Just like them Kep1er had hype around their debut, but unlike them Kep1er were unable to sustain that hype. There lies the huge difference.
They should go with a concept like MVSK, it's perfect for them. I still don't understand why WakeOne made WA DA DA as the title & debut track when they have MVSK all along tsk tsk tsk! Tbh, even typical Jpop wotas won't like a song like WA DA DA. Both Kpop & Jpop love a group that has their own identity, a concept that makes a group unique from the rest of idol groups
I couldn't agree more this video is everything I have ever needed. I agree with EVERYTHING you said and I feel the same way I just didn't know how to put my thoughts into words so I am very grateful you did it for me and other people who feel the same way. Just like you I was rooting for Kepler at the beginning and I even wanted to stan them but their lack of identity is KILLING me. When it comes to my preference concept is something that is THE MOST important when it comes to a group. To me it is absolutely A MUST for a group to have unique concept. My ult list consists of only one group Dreamcatcher and I fell like I don't need to explain why is it like that. Their concept is one of the most unique concepts in the whole kpop industry and because of their unique rock sound all their songs just scream dreamcatcher. Another group I stan is PIXY and groups I want to get into are LOONA, Purple kiss and Billlie. See the pattern? I know the video isn't about any of those groups but I brought them up because I wanted to really show how much concept matters to me. All these groups have their IDENTITY and are SPECIAL no other groups are like them. Kepler on the other hand feels boring without a real concept I don't know why anyone would stan a group when there is absolutely nothing and I mean NOTHING special about them. I truly feel sorry for the girls

I watched gp999 and I was so disappointed with the final line up because only one of my fav trainees survived but then I said to myself it's okay I will still support the group but then they debuted with wddd and things started getting worse with the mistreatment of some of the members and their awful line distribution 💀 I still tried my best to be patient and wait for things to maybe get better then the whole ot8 keplians drama started and honestly it killed all the excitement I had... not to mention how I didn't like a single song or enjoy any of their content. Everything about this group is awful ( no hate to the girls because I still like them and feel sorry for them because they're trapped in this gp)
u made a lot of good points ab the company's job, but I feel like if u feel like the girls are talented and u connect w them, u can still stan kep1er and follow them on their respective journeys after they disband.
wakeone is a company that truly annoys me, another issue is that most companies will let you know a month before so you could pre-order. no they give us less than a month to pre-order and some of kep1er fans are young so idk if they could even afford to buy those albums in a short time.
The only silver lining with all this is that kep1er is currently most popular in japan. My only concern is that they might lose their popularity as these new groups hit the japanese market.

I didn’t watch GP because of the past trauma from watching the produce series so i just waited to see and watched a reviews from the k-pop commentary channels. I went to Kcon this year and got to see them for fan interactions but I got beef with WakeOne in how they’re managing the girls. I was so confused why they were on Queendom 2 when they should be planning a comeback. And secondly there concept needs be story we can get behind and mv production needs to be better.
I agree with pretty much everything, exept for the point where you're saying that they have no direction musically, in my opinion they are going to stick with the "wa da da sound" (not saying that they should or that I want them to), they made their japanese debut and the title track sounds so much like wa da da. idk I really think that's what they wanna do, still hoping for a better managment in general cause wtf is wake1 doing.
The part where I agree the most is the content, I mean at first the kep-chup eps were fun but it was bc I was curious about what was gonna come next (and they were debuting, I was excited for literally anything they did). The new episodes are just REALLY bad produced and honestly I'm not enjoying them anymore. I'm really scared that I might not like them anymore bc of the shitty company, they're still my ults bc of how emotional I get for them but I don't really know about the future.

i honestly think temporary groups are so perfect for actual real lore (like not just hints... in an mv that get forgotten after a year) and a storyline that makes sense because with regular groups it gets too messy trying to keep it going for the group's entire tenure but with a project group that you have a clear timeline for the like 2-3 years they're going to be a group it's genuinely the perfect opportunity to actually tell a full story from start to finish with everything planned out. i think it could really be something special if done right. like have 2-3 comebacks a year and plan out what the story is before you even debut the group so everything is planned out. it would be fucking awesome. and i think it would work to get people to stan them as well or at least be invested in their stuff while it lasts because you come for the music + full storyline combination. kind of like if a tv show was a series of albums

Basically just like IOI after produce 101, they also had no concept and only got one year as a group because they were just testing out. Then Wanna One and IZone got a longer contract and better thought out concepts -.-. And yet IOI still had better songs than Kep1 it's sad, I really wanted the best for those girls since the finaly, I had high hopes :(

I mean let's gets some facts straight.
1) First of all kep1er aint getting jobless *as long as they sell 300-400k albums* each comeback and when sales keeps increasing. They might lack domestic (Korean) success but are still very popular internationally, specially in Japan.
2) Idk what content you've been watching (or rather not watching) with Kep1er but *Kep1er do go to variety shows almost CONSTANTLY.* From IDOLLIVE to MNET shows on M2 channel, and whole other bunch of side shows, they are constantly out there promoted on variety shows. But I agree that the editing on Wake one's own stuff (like kepchup and kep1us) could be better
3) While some of thier songs isn't my cup of tea, *their b-sides are amazing. Like MVSK and le Voya9e are some of my favorite songs this year.* And many people still seem to enjoy their title tracks because they sound kinda fresh, youthful and different. But yeah, it's not everyone's cup of tea I guess
4) Getting acting gigs for idols on a temporary group is kinda ¨ a bad idea. They only have so much time. *Acting takes up too much time for an idol on which they won't have time for other schedules such as comeback promotion.* Produce groups are very busy going back and forth between Japan and Korea and promoting also worldwide.
5) *What keeps me invested in Kep1er are their personalities and chemistry and how funny and entertaining they are.* Some people say they lack chemistry but they are the same people that don't follow or care for the group, aka solo stans. Yes I agree they are a big problem for this fandom
6) *They are overworked but what did we expect for a temporary group?* And don't think Queendom 2 really "flopped" as you say, Kep1er might have gotten some buzz going around them in Korea because of that show but maybe not as much as W1 hoped.
7) *Regarding their competition,* I couldn't care less. None of the other 4th gen groups interest me much honestly. Maybe it's just me. They might have some better content but the chemistry and personalities of Kep1er is unmatched for me at least. Kep1er is bright and happy and fun.
8 *I'll continue to support and stan Kep1er even if they are temporary* because I fell in love with them, their chemistry and much of their music. But I hope wake One wakes up and sees the potential of some members, like you kinda hinted, some of their talents aren't being used or shown and it's sad.
9) Even if Kep1er is an "experiment" as you say I find it to be a pretty good experiment tho lol.

i think kep1er is going to do just fine as kep1er. just like you said, their sales are really good.
i also love their chemistry. we do not know whether all of the members are close friends or not, because at the end of the day this is business, but no one that has watched their content can deny that they have a nice group dynamic. IVE is one of the most, if not the most popular 4th gen group right now, but i've seen a lot of people saying they don't really enjoy their content, mostly because of the members' relationships feel a little bit forced. now i doubt this will be an issue for IVE's success and they might grow closer together as time goes by, but to me kep1er's members' chemistry is a great quality.
however after disbandment, it will be hard for most members to establish themselves in the industry. it's so much harder for ot9 fans to fully support them in new groups or as soloists, because it would be much more expensive and time consuming. they cannot rely just on their fandom as it is now. if they were doing better domestically, i think the general public might be curious about what the members would be doing after disbandment and this would give them a much needed boost. members with a large amount of solo stans such as hiyyih are safer, because they have a solid fandom that is willing to support them wherever they go, but this is not the case with most of the members.
anyways kep1er is doing relatively well, so i think there is still some hope for them, but everything is up to their company now. i personally don't have much faith in wakeone when it comes to treating the members equally, but hopefully they can give them good music and an artistic direction that will shape their identity as a group (i don't think they have no identity, but they could do a bit better).
@lix Some say they lose fans but sales keep increasing, it doesn't add up. Means they're still gaining more fans than losing so Wake One probably thinks they're doing something right, why change something that apparently works. Or those who leave fandom are just casual fans and don't support the group with money (buying albums and merch). Company's primal care is money. I also think a lot of things can be improved, W1 seems to at least try, we have seen them get better at line distribution among other things.
Some of the opinions in this video is more about personal taste rather than constructive criticism (what music Kep1er should make or what concept they should have). Its hard to please everyones tastes. However there must still be a lot of people enjoying this kind of music, style and vibe since Kep1er is actually getting more popular, (but not in Korea as much yet)

i liked so many other girls in gp999 that didn’t make it but i was ultimately not disappointed with the final lineup but it’s just that something didn’t click at the end, when i think of the girls individually they’re all IT girls so why the hell is wakeone not making kep1er the IT girl it was supposed to be? i don’t really like their music at all but people seem to enjoy their b-sides especially mvsk that got a lot of praise, it doesn’t matter if the albums are good they need the title to be appealing so they need to be given a song on par with mvsk to get them to the top then from there all the other opportunities will come their way. queendom was really pointless and i think a spring comeback would’ve been lovely instead of a summer comeback. they’re talented and pretty they just need the chance to showcase their talents and charms idk if i personally can ever like kep1er as much as i wanted to but maybe if they have a really good song they can attract more fans and just have more variety shows and endorsements opportunities and form the foundation for their future post kep1er careers.

My problem starts with the lineup, and don’t get me wrong I love all 9 of the girls and I’m glad they could debut, but this lineup is not cutting it. Most of the members don’t fit the concept, in fact most of the members don’t fit with eachother. Their voices don’t blend well their image is a mess and let’s not get started on representation. This lineup was just a mess to begin with, you can’t just put girls who should do a cute concept with girls who fit a elegant concept AND girls who fit a girl crush concept. It doesn’t work well actually it doesn’t work at all, at this point I’m starting to not blame mnet for lineup rigging because look at iz*one the members all fit well within the group.
And I know this is subjective but the lineup was messily decided by fans in the last moment. I mean we have xiaoting and yeseo in the same group, and i love them both but their images are totally opposite. Sometimes that’s good for a group but not for a temporary group that has no plans for the future

Honestly, the fandom should do better. Like yes I get that bahyyih had an advantage but she's one of my favs and it doesn't make any of her supporters want to support the group if they feel their fav is not appreciated in the fandom. It wouldn't matter as much in a permanent group because the fans can be like this is the only time to support my fav but is a temporary group so people can be like I'll just wait until disband. Kepler has had such a sad development. Almost every member has had no benefits from being in the group. Everything that their company does seems like it is against the group. Most of the girls in the group have not been able to showcase their talents at all.
I hate the type of music they make as well. It sounds like it is from a small company. I feel like the group also has no chemistry. They don’t work well as a group at all. Their song structure doesn’t help with that either. They are definitely one of the worst survival show groups. And what I mean by that is that they had so much potential but for various reasons they will probably never be like izone or ioi. In terms of impact, success, and popularity.
I only support the group because of Bahiyyih and I will continue to support her after Kepler.
