  • Because I was finding it hard to push N Gauge track pins into my 9mm plywood I decided to try some 8mm track screws bought online. They seem to work rather well but you'll need a bit of patience getting them in.
If anyone has used these before in either N Gauge or 00 Gauge I'd love to hear how you got on with them. Did you find an easier way to get them in .
If anyone would like to use them too below is the link to where I got them from. Other sizes are available from the seller too.
Although I found them fiddly to use I'm glad I did on this occasion.

I’m actually winning now lol. Pre drill hole, place screw in hole. Start off with pin vice then carefully in the rest of the way with my Bosch drill. 😊

I would at least start the screw off by hand, use an electric screw driver for the "middle bit" and then finish off by hand so as not to distort the track/turnout.

I dril a hole and then screw in by hand. I've found that to be the best method, no more pins for me

I did find the cordless drill a bit of a pain to use , so I’ve since gone back to screwing in by hand too.
