- In today's video, we visit some of Koh Samets best beaches. Koh Samet Thailand is on the eastern seaboard of Thailand. It is approximately 220 kilometers southeast of Bangkok. We took a scooter and made our way to Ao Wai beach which is an absolute paradise. The second beach we went to was Ao Sang Thian Beach which is a nice place to visit if you want to have some drinks or something to eat.

Stayed there at Ao Wai many years ago (I love Ko Samet but no surprise as I love Thailand), dirt road all the way along the island, looks like a sealed road there now which is a pity in a way. Felt wild and was easier to be dropped off on the beach by fast boat. Great memories.

The island haven’t looked like this in over 30 years. Brings back wonderful memories. Som Tum Lao is Isaan style. That lunch is my go to meal When island hopping. From UdonThani all the best to you guys.

The first beach was very beautiful, it would be hard to leave that one. Looks like you needed a dirt-bike for traveling to the second beach, those roads look like a motocross racecourse. Nice way to end the video with a beautiful sunset.🌅

I stayed in Ko Samet for a few nights in '87 or '88. Little thatch hut on the beach was $1.50 US / night. For comparison, using the international monetary comparison unit (IMCU), a 12 ounce Singha Beer was $1. Drank, danced and conversed with people from 5 or six different countries all sitting at a long table. I'd have loved to have a special one to share it with but on the other hand, when I travel alone, more cool things tend to happen. Love the yellow swimsuit. 😎
