Honestly DJ is a pretty sick player. Also a session guy and probably on a lot more tracks than you realize. I'd take a lesson from him but seriously. Why would someone need to choose between them? You should try to play with as many good players as possible in order to get better, get more well rounded. Every player out their brings their own thing when it comes to phrasing and not selection and technique. The correct answer is to be a perpetual student of the instrument. I'd take a lesson from DJ as much as I would Dave Ghohl even though Dave isn;'t known as a shredder by any means.. But i'd still do it because I know theres a shit ton I could learn from him about music.
Well, I'll be archiving the lessons & will start utilizing them ASAP! Life keeps getting in the way & I haven't touched my new guitar I got for Christmas 2 yrs ago, sadly....

I just gave my granddaughter who turned 2 years old today her first guitar. She loves the guitar. I watched you with guns n' roses. Ashba and I found you intriguing. Slash is the bomb don't get me wrong but he's with imperfections as it seems as though things have gone to his head. I got her a baby Einstein guitar with chords. She's walking around the house and in front of the mirror singing while playing her guitar now. I guess my bottom line is when do I begin to get her lessons? How young is too young? Ps. I began watching you performing with guns n' roses. Also, there was one performance where Axl was singing one of the Chinese democracy songs I think, There was a time. You could tell Axl was having a hard time. DJ Ashba, this was the first time I saw you. This very action made me continue to look for you further. It was where at a certain point in time in the performance you looked over, gave him a nod and a very light tap on the elbow as you walked off stage. It seems as though you were letting him know he did okay. You could see that meant the world to him at least as he had a very thankful look on his face and nodded with a smile. It was probably nothing to you, but you made someone else feel human again when all others have dehumanized him. Thank you for being that good that you could see the humanity in someone else.

Yes!! Got my 1st electric last xmas; new amp this xmas. Been having trouble learning. What I would give to be sitting next to DJ!!!!! I would practice w/the pick I got at the concert (u actually played w/it, DJ!) but hell no- that thing is sacred to me & shall never be touched again. ;)
He used to do lessons. they were pricey. dunno if he still does them beyond the 2500 dollar meet and greet that comes with a new Schecter Ashba guitar. I'd tweet at him to find out. He should get back to you.

It's amazing being a vocalist and working with so man different types of guitarists and being in awe of them everytime because I know I will never be able to do what they do but the respect is mutual 😁
